Diner Reviews
  • "My fiancé and I were in town for one night. The hotel suggested this restaurant and we couldn't be happier they did. The food was incredible, service was great and the atmosphere was romantic and quiet. Just what we wanted."

  • "Mallorca is without a doubt the best seafood that you can find in Pittsburgh. The ambience is romantic, the employees are pleasant and friendly, and the food is amazing."

  • "My daughter and I decided to try Mallorca for the first time. The service was outstanding as was the food. I had chicken seasoned with artichokes, tomato and cilantro and my daughter had a seafood platter. The portions were more than adequate and everything was cooked to perfection. The octopus appetizer was delicious! We will definitely visit Mallorca in the future."

  • "This is my fourth time eating at Mallorca. The portions have been halved and although some food still tastes good, it is prepared with less care; e.g. the seafood in my paella valencia still had sand in it. I will not be going again. The value no longer justifies the price."

  • "We had our daughter's Physician Assistant Graduation lunch at Mallorca. The servers were very attentive and everyone loved their food. We couldn't have been any happier for such a great occasion."

  • "We loved the menu selections and our meal was fantastic! Lots of food. We ate outside and my only complaint is the noise from busy Carson street."

  • "I'm a repeat customer and have been dining here for 10-15 years. the quality remains high and the service staff are excellent."

  • "Mallorca makes for a fantastic late dinner experience. Their service is fantastic, there appears to be a dedicated serviceman / servicewoman for each aspect of dining (one replenishes bread, one replenishes silverware, one ensures your drinks are always full). Add a diverse Wine List, themed by country of origin, and all of the delectable dinner staples and Mallorca is somewhere you will not regret choosing. Go bold and try something you might not have before, you can trust this kitchen staff to make it well."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Mallorca. We had hoped to sit outside but the weather was threatening so we had to eat inside. I had Dover Sole -- which was deboned at my table --- and my wife had a shrimp dinner --- we both enjoyed our meals. We also had a bottle of wine (Pinot Noir) which we selected from a very extensive wine list --- our bottle was very good. We will be back and happily recommend this restaurant to all our friends."

  • "I had the lobster ravioli and my wife had a seafood dish. Both of our dishes were great."

  • "The location is very easy to find. We did not have difficulty to find a parking spot on the street around 6:00PM on a Sunday. The waiter was very personable. We ordered the red sangria which was an excellent choice. The apple chunks in the drink are delicious since they have soaked up enough alcohol and juices. There is a $6 charge if you share a main course. The paella is not the best I have ever had. It's good enough. My husband had the veal shank which was extremely tender. My son had the ahi tuna which was very good too. The side mix-vegetables were cooked to the right texture. I liked that very much. At the end of the meal we each got a complimentary shot of Amarguinha Portuguese almond liqueur."

  • "The waiter memorized all the specials....more than twenty mouth-watering entrees. In addition to an excellent wine list, Mallorca offers three different kinds of sangria: red, white and champagne. We had the red and it was wonderful. The Spanish style chorizo sausage was ordered as an appetizer for the table and it was so tasty. I had the jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon as my entree and the flavor was out of this world. The entree was accompanied by a salad with golf sauce dressing, a saffron infused rice, a vegetable medley of cauliflower, broccoli and sugar peas, and home made chips. I had lemon cake for dessert, followed by a demi tasse of espresso. A Portuguese almond liqueurl was served to all of us as a courtesy of the house."

  • "This is our favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh. We eat here as frequently as we can and on special occasions. The service is outstanding with the wait staff being attentive but not smothering. The food is truly great. The after dinner selections are equally delicious. From chocolate cake to flan to Mallorca coffee, you can't go wrong."

  • "I took my significant other here for Fathers Day and we had a great time. The food was incredible as always. I hadn't been here in a while but I was so pleased to find that the food and atmosphere was still in top form."

  • "Very extensive list of specials, impressive ingreadients, but implementation wasn't impressive at all. Great service, very professional and welcoming staff."

  • "My wife and I went to Mallorca to celebrate the my leaving the service industry after ten years. I have some Michelins and a half dozen NY Times stars on my resume...this is included only to show you that I know service. So, please don't think what follows is a mindless rage-dump. Front of house staff is inattentive, aloof to the point of seeming rude, can not communicate to save their lives - we were asked three times if we wanted dessert. They brought we the wrong wine, didn't clear plates (even when directly asked). No one explained the menu. Everything they did was awkward. The kitchen is, however, pretty good. But the bill was at least TWICE what it ought to have been, given the terrible service. Avoid."

  • "This was my 2nd trip to Mallorca, where service and attention to detail reign. We were promptly and warmly greeted, and even though we arrived early, were immediately seated at a side table off the main travel path, as requested on Open Table form. Although the specials all sounded fabulous, I'd like to see a written description, as those, in addition to the already varied menu, are too much to take in. Stuffed octopus and mushrooms were both very tasty. My mistake was ordering an entree (Seafood Mallorca?) that was combo of seafood in a brandy sauce with seasoning. Love lobster, shrimp, crab, and scallops, but the dish was heavier on clams and mussels. Friend's delmonico steak was "okay." Sure wel'l go back, just will be more selective."

  • "Great gem packed in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. They always have unusual game dishes as part of their specials...steaks are enormous and cooked to your perfection. Fresh fish, lobster and crab specialty dishes abound and never disappoint...their chefs know what they are doing... I love their (imported from Italy) sorbets, especially the peach for desert, but don't pass up their cakes...almond cake will melt into your mouth leaving you wanting another piece...but that is only one of the many tasty sweets. Depending on the time it can be noisy, but that is part of the atmosphere. The original side of the restaurant has old time character, worth requesting. To top it off their wait staff consistently excels and owner very attentive! "

  • "This is one of our favorite Pittsburgh restaurants. The food is flavorful, affordable, and pleasing to the eye. The service is the number one quality; everyone is nice, fun, attentive, knowledgeable, and good looking! My husband and I came with another couple to enjoy the Sangria special ($15) that was awesome we had both the red and the white. "

  • "Mallorca was very crowded and noisy on this busy day-but the food was as terrific as ever."

  • "On a busy Mother's Day, at 530, the food/service was fantastic. My ONLY complaint was the VERY NOISY /CROWDED back dining area. Many small babies surrounded us and were quite distracting during our dinner. "

  • "Myself, my sister and a friend came here for dinner before a show we were seeing at Consol that night. Our food was excellent and the service was outstanding. We only had one small complaint and that was that we had to wait for about 5-6 minutes after they cleared the table to get our check and we were in a hurry so we could make it to the show on time"

  • "We always get a gift card from family and it was how we discovered this location. The food is good and the service is outstanding. Get something different each time. They also have fantastic desserts."
    Dined on 5/9/2014
  • "The service was still very good but the food was average at best. The portions are large but my dish needed more seasoning and it came out cold. "

  • "Mallorca was fantastic. It was a bit crowded (Cinco de Mayo), but the service and food were great. It felt very old-world, and about as far from a chain as you can get. "

  • "Food was great. Portions large. House wine was excellent. Many, many choices on the menu. The list of specials given orally was a bit overwhelming...perhaps too many choices. Overall a very pleasant dining experience which I would repeat. "
