Diner Reviews
  • "Our family loves Mallorca for the food, San Gria, great service and energy you feel when you dine there. We love to celebrate special occasions at Mallorca. The menu has interesting choices and we have never had a bad meal there."

  • "The food and service were excellent. It had been quite a few years since I had been to mallorca, but I am glad we went there."

  • "Our favorite restaurant in the Burgh. Never a bad meal, servers are always charming and nightly dinner specials are always great and the waiters recite them like they are giving a speech...I just get a kick out of it....not to mention the complimentary shot of almond liquor is always a nice touch at the end of the meal!!"

  • "MALLORCA is my favorite dining spot in all of Pittsburgh. The quality is amazing, portions beyond compare, most service oriented staff. Overall everything works, making this place the best"

  • "Mallorca still hires trained servers who are attentive to your every need. The place remains reliably old-school, with quality food, an amazing array of specials and friendly staff. We celebrated our anniversary, and the host found us a special table, delivered free desserts and sent over post-dinner drinks. Very classy."

  • " I ordered the 3# lobster and was not disappointed. We are from the Cleveland area and love our Mallorca. This is the third time I have been to the Pittsburgh location and I have never been disappointed. I love the vibrancy of the south side and the service was, as always, great! I recommend a night out at Mallorca for any occasion."

  • "The food was excellent and the service was fantastic! I have passed this restaurant for years and never ate here. I am sorry it took so long, We will be back!!!"

  • "Mallorca has excellent food and service. Come hungry as the portions tend to be bigger than most other restaurants. This place has been in business quite a few years (I think the waiter said it opened in 1990), which counts in the restaurant business. The seafood and paella are what we go for usually. They have a pretty extensive, reasonably priced wine list."

  • "We went here during restaurant week and it was wonderful. Our waiter was great and very accommodating. He broke our cork and gave us a drink on the house. The Mallorca coffee was amazing! We had the stuffed calamari and mussels both were wonderful. The paella was good but the seafood was overcooked. The stuffed salmon on the other hand was perfectly cooked. I would go here again because of the ambiance and service."

  • "Great food good service. If you have never tried Spanish foods go and enjoy."

  • "Stay away. The two steak dishes were cooked medium instead of rare as ordered. The pork chops were dry, and the salad had too much dressing. It looks like they were too busy with restaurant week to pay attention to regular menu orders!"

  • "This was our first visit to Mallorica...It was our 20th wedding anniversary. Overall we had a very nice experience and would return. Excellent and diverse menu...both, diners who like "regular" food and "Foodies" who like to experiment would enjoy the offerings of their menu. We had the veal shank and a 22oz Delmonico with a brandy mushroom sauce...both were excellent. While the food was great...our preparation time in the kitchen was a bit long...without us saying a word about the delay, the server apologized for the wait and said that dessert was on the house. Service was overall very good. The Flan and Crème Brulee were excellent. Overall...very good. Stop in and enjoy. I recommend you make reservations."

  • "We went to dinner at Mallorca for the Pittsburgh Restaurant week special, the 3 course dinner was fantastic! I was in a group of 5, no one had a complaint and we left stuffed. The wait staff is amazing, From their knowledge of the menu to their attentiveness. Can't wait to go back soon!"

  • "The food at this spot is good every time we visit. The service is prompt and efficient. Even when busy they do not seem rushed. The owner is almost always on the premises to answer questions and make sure the food is served promptly."

  • "I was pretty let down by our experience. The dining room was very crowded and it felt like you were sitting on top of each other. The appetizers were actually very good, we had stuffed calamari and the garlic soup was excellent. Our main dishes were not very good. I had the Paella Valenciana; the mussels were not very good and tasted very fishy, the lobster tail was overdone and dry, and it overall was kind-of bland tasting. The rice and vegetables sides were also very bland and did not have much taste to them. I don't mind paying a premium for good food, but I did not think that the meal we had was worth the very high price."

  • "Been to several of their restaurants and never disappointed! I prefer Cleveland to Pittsburgh though. The seating and dinning areas are far more spacious. Food and wine choices are great!"

  • "He was just great - we couldn't have asked for anyone better. The back servers were great too. We had gone there after Disney's Pirates and Princesses show at Pitt and we started sitting outside but the rains came and they quickly moved us inside to a lovely table. Food was great - service was better and our granddaughter loved the pasta - fabulous red sauce too."

  • " From the flavorably delicious cuisine to the impeccable care taken by the multiple servers who make sure your dining experience is wonderful throughout your meal, Mallorca is one of Pittsburgh's best restaurants for sure. Come hungry! Come ready to be more than pleased! I'll be back very soon...and again, and again."

  • "Mallorca was highly recommended; it's disappointing that I cannot do the same. Due to family schedules, we were there for an early birthday dinner at noon (on Sunday the lunch menu is not available). We were the only party dining and it was STIFLING hot-it didn't seem worth it for them to turn on a/c for only one party. The sangria was recommended but was overloaded with ice. Since I make sangria and was introduced to it in Portugal, I know this was just a money saver for them. My entree was Langosta Rellena and it seemed the lobster might have been grilled- it was overdone. The vegetables, rice, and chips were delicious but served family style and the portions were a bit too small. The best part was birthday cake, amaretto, and espresso."

  • "My fiancé and I were in town for one night. The hotel suggested this restaurant and we couldn't be happier they did. The food was incredible, service was great and the atmosphere was romantic and quiet. Just what we wanted."

  • "Mallorca is without a doubt the best seafood that you can find in Pittsburgh. The ambience is romantic, the employees are pleasant and friendly, and the food is amazing."

  • "My daughter and I decided to try Mallorca for the first time. The service was outstanding as was the food. I had chicken seasoned with artichokes, tomato and cilantro and my daughter had a seafood platter. The portions were more than adequate and everything was cooked to perfection. The octopus appetizer was delicious! We will definitely visit Mallorca in the future."

  • "This is my fourth time eating at Mallorca. The portions have been halved and although some food still tastes good, it is prepared with less care; e.g. the seafood in my paella valencia still had sand in it. I will not be going again. The value no longer justifies the price."

  • "We had our daughter's Physician Assistant Graduation lunch at Mallorca. The servers were very attentive and everyone loved their food. We couldn't have been any happier for such a great occasion."

  • "We loved the menu selections and our meal was fantastic! Lots of food. We ate outside and my only complaint is the noise from busy Carson street."

  • "I'm a repeat customer and have been dining here for 10-15 years. the quality remains high and the service staff are excellent."

  • "Mallorca makes for a fantastic late dinner experience. Their service is fantastic, there appears to be a dedicated serviceman / servicewoman for each aspect of dining (one replenishes bread, one replenishes silverware, one ensures your drinks are always full). Add a diverse Wine List, themed by country of origin, and all of the delectable dinner staples and Mallorca is somewhere you will not regret choosing. Go bold and try something you might not have before, you can trust this kitchen staff to make it well."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Mallorca. We had hoped to sit outside but the weather was threatening so we had to eat inside. I had Dover Sole -- which was deboned at my table --- and my wife had a shrimp dinner --- we both enjoyed our meals. We also had a bottle of wine (Pinot Noir) which we selected from a very extensive wine list --- our bottle was very good. We will be back and happily recommend this restaurant to all our friends."

  • "The location is very easy to find. We did not have difficulty to find a parking spot on the street around 6:00PM on a Sunday. The waiter was very personable. We ordered the red sangria which was an excellent choice. The apple chunks in the drink are delicious since they have soaked up enough alcohol and juices. There is a $6 charge if you share a main course. The paella is not the best I have ever had. It's good enough. My husband had the veal shank which was extremely tender. My son had the ahi tuna which was very good too. The side mix-vegetables were cooked to the right texture. I liked that very much. At the end of the meal we each got a complimentary shot of Amarguinha Portuguese almond liqueur."

  • "The waiter memorized all the specials....more than twenty mouth-watering entrees. In addition to an excellent wine list, Mallorca offers three different kinds of sangria: red, white and champagne. We had the red and it was wonderful. The Spanish style chorizo sausage was ordered as an appetizer for the table and it was so tasty. I had the jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon as my entree and the flavor was out of this world. The entree was accompanied by a salad with golf sauce dressing, a saffron infused rice, a vegetable medley of cauliflower, broccoli and sugar peas, and home made chips. I had lemon cake for dessert, followed by a demi tasse of espresso. A Portuguese almond liqueurl was served to all of us as a courtesy of the house."

  • "This is our favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh. We eat here as frequently as we can and on special occasions. The service is outstanding with the wait staff being attentive but not smothering. The food is truly great. The after dinner selections are equally delicious. From chocolate cake to flan to Mallorca coffee, you can't go wrong."

  • "I took my significant other here for Fathers Day and we had a great time. The food was incredible as always. I hadn't been here in a while but I was so pleased to find that the food and atmosphere was still in top form."

  • "Very extensive list of specials, impressive ingreadients, but implementation wasn't impressive at all. Great service, very professional and welcoming staff."

  • "My wife and I went to Mallorca to celebrate the my leaving the service industry after ten years. I have some Michelins and a half dozen NY Times stars on my resume...this is included only to show you that I know service. So, please don't think what follows is a mindless rage-dump. Front of house staff is inattentive, aloof to the point of seeming rude, can not communicate to save their lives - we were asked three times if we wanted dessert. They brought we the wrong wine, didn't clear plates (even when directly asked). No one explained the menu. Everything they did was awkward. The kitchen is, however, pretty good. But the bill was at least TWICE what it ought to have been, given the terrible service. Avoid."
