Maldaner'sWonderful RestaurantMaldaners is a lovely spot to eat inside or out. It faces the Old Capitol Bldg in Springfield, Illinois. I loved my Beef Wellington a menu staple and as an appetizer I had a lovely miso soup with duck wontons. The service is excellent and even the TV over the bar had public tv on. We love to meet our friends there for an above average meal before a night on the town. The food selection at Maldaners caters to all desires and is most often cooked perfectly. A meal for my wife and I with an appetizer and drinks is usually around $100 plus tip.

However, the set up we had I would say was inappropriate. A booth was used, which made it very difficult for a couple of people. Our bartender that evening was nice enough, but since we were the youngest ones in that evening and not from the area, she didn't seem too thrilled that we were at her bar. Although she did warm up as time went along, she never gave a vibe that she cared either way if we were there or not.
Our server that evening was great. Very professional, and remembered that it was my wife's birthday and took care of dessert for her. The place was a bit empty for a Friday night, but it also isn't wasn't a great weather weekend for people to visit Springfield, IL. We were passing through town, and had never eaten there before. What a pleasant surprise! The menu choices were excellent - we had a hard time choosing. Everything was outstanding. Service was prompt and attentive. The wine list had many good wines at reasonable prices.
