We went for dinner before a show and were served quickly and efficiently. We each picked a 2 small plates and all shared- it was fun tasting many different dishes, and the serving sizes were generous enough for all of us to have a reasonable portion. We especially liked the Romesco (Eggplant Bruschetta), the Lomo (cured pork loin) and the mussels. Shared the carne paella with a friend, and it was delicious! The menu states it takes at least 35 minutes to make any of the paella dishes, but our wait was not quite that long. Plenty of tapas to tide us over in the meantime. Food was good price for the quality and quantity. We went pretty early so I can't really respond to noise and ambience but the service was great and personable and the food was delicious.
The Sangria is very good ( we had the red).
Loved the stuffed roasted red peppers and the lamp chops marinated in lemon were delicious. I'd go back just for those!
Lots of great menu items and the good selection of cheeses.
We were treated to a complimentary tres leches cake, which was the best I'd ever had and I make a pretty good one myself!

The food was delicious and very authentic. I spent a lot of time in Spain and it was great to find an authentic restaurant to remind me of my time there. We ordered a bunch of different tapas and they were all great. My favorites were the Vaca Frita and the Tigres. Yum! The service was great too. My waiter was extremely friendly and attentive. It has the warmest atmosphere of any other restaurant in uptown - I forget I'm in Charlotte when I'm there! The owner tries very hard to make his guests happy. The food is really, really good - great choices on the menu. The Sangria is the best I've ever had. We got to try a lot of the food, and honestly I don't remember the names of them but it consisted of potatoes, croquetas, shrimp, etc.... and we also had the paella! They were all very tasty!

We had the same food in several places in Spain over the years, which was delicious. And I can tell you with complete confidence that, apart from the eggplant, these dishes taste the same in Malabar. The food was prepared simply but with care and it was obvious that they use great ingredients. The eggplant was very oily and wasn't really prepared as it was in Spain. But, everything else was excellent, and we wanted to order everything in the menu. Our waiter was wonderful too. Don't forget to make a reservation as this place is in high demand. The food is great and the servers are very knowledgeable. The first time I went, for lunch, I had the Churrasco and my friends had the Octopus and their tapas. Tapas are a must in this place, especially the peppers...yummy. For dinner, you can have a sangria, red or white.It just made me want more. Finally, their paella is fabulous! And you can share with someone else!
