Public Transit: You can use the LYNX Light Rail Blue Line and get off on the CTC/Arena station and walk towards 5th street. Walk west on 5th, one block, to the Hearst Tower located on the corner of 5th and College.
Parking: Private Lot
Parking Details: Malabar patrons can park in the Hearst Tower parking deck, entrances are located on 5th and 6th streets in between College & Tryon. We offer two hours free parking validation M-F before 5pm, after 5pm; on weekends parking is free with Malabar validation.

"Very happy to finally have a Spanish Tapas spot back in Charlotte. The service is a bit unorganized (e.g. No host/hostess, our wine sat unopened in front of us for 15mins as did our neighbors at the bar). The food is good, our favorite was the Garlic Shrimp, the chicken in the paella was outstanding as well. We will be back again, it's a good spot for a late dinner after the movies."

"Decor not what we expected. More coffee shop than tapas. Food was good but in some cases very bland. The salt cod fritters were fried perfectly but lacked flavor. On the other hand the desserts were exceptional. The service was also very good. All in all not a bad experience but not memorable."

"Great decor. Friendly wait-staff. Nice menu. Choices a bit odd, with several not suitable for actual lunch fare. Needs photos of entrees - badly. We mostly chose incorrectly, not being able to understand what the waiter was saying about "not enough for a meal," but we found out.

One of our party ordered the skirt steak salad, which finally arrived after 30 minutes, at which point the rest of us were done. His meal was very good, but extremely late. He had to wolf it down."

"Because we were making a show, our server suggested our party of three order two tapas each instead of an entree. It was fun sharing a wide variety, all delicious. The stuffed peppers seemed to be the favorite. We also shared a bottle of wine. Two of our party ordered flan for dessert, and their comment was that it was OK. Our bill, including tax and tip, came to about $40. per person, which means that although we look forward to eating at Malabar again, it will be on a special occasion. Service was attentive and personal."

"I was wary, after an unremarkable visit to Coco Osteria, Malabar's previous incarnation, as the same company still runs Malabar, and I had read unflattering reviews, of curt service and other negatives. But we love it. It could not be more convenient to a nice dinner before any cultural or sporting event downtown. I love anyplace that offers rabbit, and theirs was excellent. My wife's cod was maybe the best fish dish ever. The garlicky fingerling potatoes accompanying both were superb. The grilled calamari was a delightful change from the ubiquitous fried version. Next time I'll try octopus, another great seafood rarely seen on menus. Even the tres leches cake was excellent, and I'm a particular stickler about that."

"This one of my favorite restaurants. Once Coco Osteria, they have not lost the quality of food, service or ambiance that my wife and I love since becoming Malabar. This is where we had our first date, rehearsal dinner and is where we celebrate our anniversary. It has a special place in our hearts and taste buds :)"
