    Every Friday night from 10pm-1am, Jayson Kane entertains us with his one man band show. He takes requests and entertains the crowd with his eclectic song choices and witty banter.

    We heat things up on Saturday night from 10pm-2am with our in house DJ spinning a mix of acid jazz and other eclectic sounds.

  • "We went to Maker's Mark for half-price steak night, and because my partner is a huge MM fan. His steak was quite good, and the accompanying sides were decent (small portions of mashed potatoes and green beans). I had a salad, which was fresh but overdressed, and a flat bread that was good, but uninspired. What made the evening, though, was the excellent service. Our server, Grace, was professional, attentive and friendly. Both she and another server (whose name I didn't catch) were happy to chat with us about visiting Kansas City, where to get the best barbecue, etc. We were there fairly early on a weeknight--I can imagine that this place (and the rest of the Power & Light District) is hopping on weekends."

  • "Our party of four had a fantastic dinner on 6/28/14. The women raved about the Mint Juleps, and you can't go wrong with the house label bourbon on the rocks. The Maker's Mark Charcuterie Board was a perfect prelude to our superb entree course. The wine list is shorter than comparable restaurants, but the variety of offerings easily pairs with the food menu. We topped off our meal with delicious desserts and excellent coffee. Our server, and all the restaurant staff, were friendly and very attentive from start to finish."

  • "I stopped here for a burger before a concert. It was just so-so. It was supposed to come with bacon, which I didn't find until nearly my last bite. It was more tasty with the bacon. The fries were cold and not fresh. I did not have time for them to re-do my meal so I didn't ask. The waitress was nice."

  • "We had a 6:00 reservation for dinner before an 8:00 concert at the Sprint Center. We were not seated for dinner until 6:45. Apparently the restaurant chose to seat several walk-in diners, even when they knew all of their tables were fully reserved for several hours. That upset many people, and it's doubtful most of them will return. The food was good, the service adequate, but that wait after having made reservations months ago was unforgivable."

  • "This was our first time dining here and I think the first thing that was different than what I expected was the warmth of the environment. It is very nice and comfortable here, I guess I just expected a warmer ambiance. Food was great although it did get a little cold towards the end. Service from our waitress was great, she was very easy to work with. They were out of a couple of the bourbons we wanted to try which was kind of a bummer. Desert was good but didn't have a ton of flavor."

  • "Reservation - 6 months prior for May 31 2014 at 6:15. Arrived a little early, told wait was 5-10 minutes. We waited in the bar. At the bar for extended period had to ask a bartender for service. Wait now for over 20 min. Checked status and was told table would be ready shortly. Twenty minutes later still not seated! Checked again, cleaning the table, plus a lot of walk-ins before us & had been busy and their wait staff needed a break. We finally got seated! Ordered appetizer and before it came ordered dinner. More wait, appetizer lukewarm. Now it was 7:20 no dinner and concert a 8! Who knew when we would get dinner? Informed the server that we were leaving. Don't have any positive things to recommend about Markers Mark. "

Sat us in private dining room and had one of the bartenders wait our table. The young lady did an excellent job, while also maintaining her bartending duties. "

  • "Everything about the evening was great except the noise level was far too loud. I was with a group of four women who did not know each other that well and I hoped we could get to know each other better over a nice long dinner before attending the Cher concert. However, we had to keep talking louder in order to hear each other. Also many things had to be repeated because we could not hear each other. It did not help to have a bunch of drunk people in the P & L area who were very loud regardless of how worthy the cause was that contributed to their intoxication & the overall noise level in the area. This was my second time dining there & both times the noise level was a bit much to hold a normal conversation with friends. "

  • "The early dinner times are great and let you enjoy the atmosphere without all of the p&l bar crowd. Crab cakes are wonderful, steaks, burgers, and desserts well worth the money. The artichoke dip was a bit heavy on the cumin I thought, but still pretty tasty. Will be returning! "

  • "We asked for a booth and once seated noticed the table seemed a little high. The Waitress, although polite, was less than attentive. We had the Sirloin and it was perfect. We were celebrating our 26th wedding anniversary and thought we would give this place a try. While we would return, we won't recommend, based on the service, this place for special occasions."

It has the ambiance of a fine dining restaurant. The drinks were great though it took forever to get them. The food was good, seafood was cooked perfectly. Great for a date or a nice dinner out with friends. "

  • "It was my husbands birthday and luckily there was also a concert at P&L. Makers Mark went above and beyond, we had the most amaizing table outside, wonderful steak dinner and had our favorite wine, we stayed on the patio for the concert which has an excellent view. Special thanks to our waiter, he was perfect. We will most definitely return."

  • "Our evening started out poorly when we attempted to access the restaurant via the common area. Apparently they were having a "private" party for approx. 800 and regardless of our reservation we were required to walk around the block to access the front door. Once inside the noise level was that of a college bar on a Saturday night on remained at that level for the entire stay. The service was lackluster as apparently they had not staffed for either the party outside or their dining room, drinks were slow to arrive and few and far between. The food was okay with the steaks being rated "good" by those in the party that had them and the seafood rated "so-so" by others. Overall a well below par experience for the price."

  • "Had the prime rib and KC strip steak on our visit. The prime rib was one of the best I've had in KC. The steak was good but I can think of multiple other KC restaurants that serve better steak. The size of the side dishes is laughable for the price you pay but the quality/taste was fine. Service was okay for us at times and the wait staff was good with answering questions; they just took too long between visits to the table and it definitely was not busy at the time. I'd recommend Maker's Mark for the food quality but consider it a bit overpriced."

  • "Arrived with reservations, sat for 20 minutes with water, offered appetizer by the host, still no wait staff, finally someone came, took our drink order, disappeared for 15 more minutes, had to grab another server to ask for help who then got the host who got the server (after we had watched her serve other patrons and bus tables) who then came back with a lame apology and brought the wrong drink which came after the appetizer so we had no drink with that. Then brought a salad that had dressing on it when no dressing was requested. Manager tried to make up for it by comping the appetizer but the experience was already sad. When I asked for a drink to come with my dinner, she thought that was the name of my drink "with my dinner" Weird."

  • "Excellent food and service. The salmon will melt in your mouth. The steaks were absolutely flavorful and cooked to perfection. There is something for everyone - burgers, steak, seafood, pasta. The waitress, Grace, made our evening with her excellent service and sense of when we needed something and when we didn't need something. It's a bit pricey, but well worth it and especially so if it is a special occasion. We will derfinitely return."

  • "We went during Power & Light restaurant week before the ballet. There was also a concert at the Sprint center so the restaurant and bar were both very busy. The server (Hector) was very attentive and did his best to see that we were served promptly and that we made it out in plenty of time. As always, the food was excellent. We chose the steak and the scallops and both were prepared, seasoned and presented beautifully. Because there were a lot of people there, and the flooring and walls are wood, without much to absorb sound, it's a bit noisy, but not uncomfortable. Overall it was a great fit for the evening."

Drinks were not poured correctly (a bourbon and ginger that came out as a bourbon and water, Manhattan served with no garnishings). Food came out very slowly. A 7:45 reservation didn't e d u t almost 10. Server was friendly but out of her element."

We thought we were there for restaurant week but were a day early, so no meal special we were expecting, but our waiter was very helpful with specials for that night, awesome lobster tail! And other specials on other days of the week. The patio looked great for a nice evening once the weather warms up a bit. Portions were good size. Worth the value especially with the lobster tail. :)"

  • "The food here was good and the service was very good, but I was expecting something unique at this restaurant. I assumed that there would be whisky flights, menu items with whisky/bourbon flavored sauces…some unique food items. There was not. There were a couple of menu items…maybe one or two…that had anything to do with whisky/bourbon flavoring. There were no whisky flights, which was disappointing. We'd been to the Maker's Mark Bourbon Lounge in Louisville before and they had whisky flights, which was a lot of fun. I was also SHOCKED that there weren't any dessert items that had anything to do with any whisky/bourbon flavoring. SHOCKED. It just wasn't what I was expecting. It's a good restaurant, but it's nothing special."

  • "I wasnt impressed sadly, but in all fairness I did go on valenties day and I only had access to a set menu. When I asked it we had access to the normal menu(my girl friend dosnt like seafood and that was a large chunk of the menu) the waiter laughed at me. Its was a 3 course meal with a Amuse Bouche . The starter was mini beef wellington and escargot. The wellington was good, but the escargot was bland and not prepared correctly. They would not allow changes to the first course so my girlfirend actually went without a first course, and I had a crab bisque that tasted like cheese soup with imitation crab tossed in. The Entre they redeemed themselves we both relly enjoyed them and was a good portion Desert tasted like out of box moose."

  • "We walked.in to high-energy noise, which was fine since it was expected. The problem came with getting our meal. It took 20 minutes to get our appetizers, and at this point our drinks had not even arrived. Finally got drinks, and waited another 35 minutes for the entree. The waitress was very apologetic, but that didn't help the situation. Spent more time waiting for dessert and coffee. All in all, service was slow, food was luke-warm, and not very tasty. The wine, though, was very good."

  • "My wife and I ate at MM on Valentines day at 5:00. We tried to enjoy it, but left unimpressed. All the small things make a difference! Pros: Flavorful food! Pleasant servers - our waitress was super nice Nice ambiance Cons: Wine was out of stock Course 1- two different mini bite-size apps - awkward to share Course 2 -arrived before the tiny course 1 was done. My lobster bisque was good but had more of a chicken noodle soup consistency than a cream based soup Course 3 - took way too long; we received courses 1 & 2 prior to our neighbors, but they almost finished their main course before we got ours. Food was lukewarm as well. Service - Waited 15 minutes to get a wine re-pour. My water glass sat empty for ~30 minutes."

  • "Very overrated. My husband and I dined here prior to going to the Kauffman Center for a concert. It really was just okay. The food was good but not great. Even though the restaurant was nearly empty, service was lackluster. Our server smelled of old alcohol. I doubt that we will eat here again."
