Majestic RestaurantGreat ExperienceGreat food, perfect wait staff, music was great. Not to loud so are able to carry on a conversation.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat except bone in NY StripGreat except bone in NY Strip was a thin Sirloin with a sliver of bone.
Taste good, to thin to end up MR.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent dining experience!I took a family member from New York City who wanted to get a taste of the KC Jazz scene. Everything was perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. She was extremely impressed, and we had a lovely time. We had a bottle of wine, split some appetizers and desserts - everything was amazing. Another guest with us said his best Old Fashioned was the best he had in a long time. Entrees were a little pricey, but it was affordable and enjoyable to get the variety we did. Worth every penny.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMQuiet LunchWe really wanted to visit in the evening to catch the Jazz but we still wanted to see the place, so we went for lunch. The selection was good, the prices were high but not unreasonable for lunch anyway. I had the mahi mahi with a mango and blackberry salsa, my husband had the beef tips, both of which were amazing. Another guest with us had the bacon wrapped pork, which she also enjoyed. The building was very neat, and the menu gave a cool rundown of the history of the building, but I wish there were more information about the former speakeasy and maybe the owners or famous/notable performers. Overall a cool place to visit, but I would recommend trying out the night scene for the full experience.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen I first saw the rock/brickWhen I first saw the rock/brick walls and a 4 piece jazz combo I was concerned that the music would be so loud that it would be unpleasant. That was not the case, the music was excellent, not too loud as you could converse with the person next to you easily.
A great place to experience good food and good jazz.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMIntimate and SophisticatedMy date and I dined at the Jazz Club, around 8:30 PM. The room was filled with couples eager to enjoy an out of the ordinary cocktail, savory meals, and some great jazz. I can't imagine any of us were disappointed. Our cocktails were unique and delightful, with strong flavors accenting the underlying alcohols. The food was well prepared and cooked to the desired temperature. I chose the Majestic Steak with peppercorn and bourbon creme sauce. I requested medium-well, with an emphasis on the medium instead of the well ... A subtle nuance to be sure however the chef hit the mark superbly. One of the finest steaks I've had in some time. My date went with the Pork Medallions, again, cooked perfectly and delicious. Oh, and the jazz? Superb.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFour of us dined in the JazzFour of us dined in the Jazz Club for a special occasion. The Service (Joe was our waiter), the steaks, the music, etc. were all exceptional. We had a wonderful evening and will definitely return to The Majestic again.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't wait to come backI couldn't be happier with my experience at Majestic. My only issue is that I have to drive 3 hours to eat there! Thank you!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Steaks and JAZZ tooSeriously, we had some of the best steaks I've ever tasted. just what I hoped for in KC.
and downstairs the piano trio was playing standards and originals. NIIIICE!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMOur VisitTook some relatives to the Majestic and we loved the food, the service and the jazz. Waiter very knowledgable and friendly. A superb restauarant.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorable night outWe returned to the Majestic recently after several years absence- have always loved their food, great atmosphere, and entertainment, but the cigarette smoke in the basement was simply a deal breaker for us. Now that smoking is prohibited, it is a totally enjoyable experience and we will certainly return. The food was excellent, served piping hot, and our waiter was delightful. We were attending the Quality Hill Theater after our meal, and were pleasantly surprised to see how much more vibrant and alive this part of town is now.
We look forward to returning to the Majestic and heartily recommend it to anyone looking to experience a special evening out on the town!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great Dining ExperienceThis is the second time we have dined at the Majestic. The food, drinks, service, and live jazz were all great. The dry aged steaks were wonderful. Make sure you sample the fried risotto appetizers. They were so good that we could have just dined on them alone. The bartender is very skilled and the specialty cocktails are excellent. Add great live jazz on top of it all and you have the ultimate KC dining experience!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ComebackI'm glad we gave the Majestic a return try. We were disappointed on an earlier visit. This time everything went well and the food was great! The place just feels good and everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinner with guestsGreat food, great service and great jazz. Majestic always delivers.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMoutstanding. waiter was topoutstanding. waiter was top notch. music, service and food couldn't have been better.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBest place for Jazz & Great FoodThis is and has always been a favorite of ours, always great jazz bands, and the food is delicious. We always bring out of town guests to the "The Majestic", because it typifies what Kansas City is all about. The waiters are awesome, the food is delicious.
What else can you say, visit and be impressed.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMA Nice Sunday BrunchOur Mothers' Day Brunch (5/12/2013) was a long overdue opportunity to experience The Majestic. We were incredibly pleased beyond our expectations - the food and service were phenomenal - and we plan to go back more often to experience the rest of their menu and night life bar scene (after concerts, etc.).5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMI would not recommend theI would not recommend the brunch menu. I ordered the grilled chicken with mango salsa it was very bland and oddly had a fishy taste.
The eggs my mother ordered did not come as requested. Overall, very disappointing Mother's Day meal.
Previously I have been there at dinner and the food has been fine. Unfortunately this has soured me to the majestic.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful dining experience! We made reservations at the Majestic for Mother's Day Brunch. At first, I put in a reservation for eight to include my son and his family, but they backed out, so I changed the reservation to four. At the last minute, my son and his family were able to make it after all, so all of us (nine by that time) showed up at the restaurant with a reservation for only four. I realized that I had put the staff of the Majestic in a difficult position on a very busy day and had started the process to find another place to eat when they told us that they could move some things around and seat us! Of course we were delighted!
The food was excellent and the service was exemplary. All in all a wonderful experience.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot for a dinner per-Great spot for a dinner per- symphony concert. Convenient, easy in and out. Great service. Great steaks. Good selection of wines and our server knew the wines so was able to make suggestions.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent ServceThe service we received was second to none. In my opinion, the service of an establishment is paramount to the visit. Food quality is important as well but is second to the service provided. I had the lamb shops and the were quite excellent.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMSo Very Impressed! We had a wonderful experience. My out-of-town guest visiting from the U.S. Virgin Islands wanted to experience a one-of-a-kind Kansas City steakhouse that can only be found in Kansas City. He was blown away by the fabulous service (including how helpful everyone was when I locked my keys in my car), and even more blown away by the wine and steak. Although the server could have upsold us on the bone-in filet, he asked the chef which he believed was the best cut on the menu. His choice was significantly less expensive, but the honesty was very much appreciated and shown in the tip. Entertaining live jazz, low-lighting, great food. PERFECT!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had quite good service,We had quite good service, the food was fabulous we each had the pepercorn tenderloin which was wonderful. The entertainment was great and the after dinner drink we had Irish coffee was as good as I have had.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent old school kansasExcellent old school kansas City steak house with a twist. Great knowledgable bar staff with a great selection of bourbons, scotchs and whiskey blends. This is a must for any lover of the traditional steak house.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Majestic is our favoriteThe Majestic is our favorite spot to being out of towners. This time it was just us and a night of mussels and martinis was wonderful. If you haven't been before it'll be a favorite of yours in one trip.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was excellent and serviceFood was excellent and service superb! Loved the trio that was playing that night!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA great prom mealDecided to go here for prom night. My girlfriend and I decided to go just the two of us but we did see groups there. However I would not recommended it for a group bigger than 10 because there isn't an overabundance of space. For just the two of us, it was perfect. The upper restaurant area is absolutely beautiful and the service was impeccable. My server, Scott, took great care of us and gave us a quick tour of the jazz club underneath the restaurant. Our bus boy, Julio, was also very nice. The food was savory and delicious. I ordered the Majestic steak and my date ordered the Chicken Penne pasta; we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. So now to the best part of my time at the Majestic. The jazz club underneath the Majestic is fantastic.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Jazz & food at the same time!Excellent food & service! We were a large group (10) and our waiter was very knowledgeable and accomodating.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Night as MajesticI had more folks from out of town and took them to my go to place for a taste of Old Kansas City, The Majestic. Great service, great food, great music.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat time at the Majestic.Great time at the Majestic. The occassion was Scott's birthday and we requested the Jazz Club. Robbie had a great table for us right in front of the Mark Lowery Trio. Jeff was attentive and made great suggestions without being pushy. The highlight was the meat and chesse appetizer, venison salamie, buffalo summer sausage, port sage something, and apricot Duval. The boys are still talking about how great the chesse was.(I was a meat fan.)The salads were crisp, the entrees flavorful, and the complimentary dessert was a nice finnish.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe took my father to the MajesticWe took my father to the Majestic for his birthday. It was a perfect evening. We were seated right away. We went on a Sunday night, so it was not that crowded. The service was great. My brother asked for a raspberry lemonade. They did not have it available on the menu but our server created him one. The food arrived quickly and was cooked to perfection. My family all ordered steak but I ordered the salmon which was very tender and flavorful. Great restaurant. Will go again.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time visiting the Majestic.First time visiting the Majestic. We sat downstairs in the jazz room, called ahead after making the reservation on OpenTable to make sure that is where we were seated. Reservation was for 6:15 and the band didn't show up and start playing until we were just received the main course. That made for good conversation with the other couple, but made it hard to continue that conversation once the band played. Not a real worry, but something to note. Service was outstanding and attentive without being annoying. I had the rib eye which was only dry on one side and enjoyable on the other. I probably would have sent it back if we didn't have show plans after dinner. Not something I expected for the price. Overall a nice experience.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI love this place. It hasI love this place. It has a great atmosphere. People are friendly. Food is always good. Jazz is great. It is a wonderful place!4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat live music in the lowerGreat live music in the lower level. Delicious food (totally recommend the meat and cheese platter and the spinach salad), though a bit pricey for many of the entrees. Nice atmosphere, and the wait staff are very attentive.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent experience bothExcellent experience both service and quality. Would highly recommend.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect birthday dinner.Fantastic place. You can feel the history surrounding this restaurant with the decor, bar and live jazz. Great service from our waiter.Drinks were perfectly mixed. The food was amazing. We had the Goat Cheese appetizer and the ribeye steaks. The potatoes were perfectly done and the gravy was delightful. Awesome, awesome, awesome!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter hearing numerous recommendatiAfter hearing numerous recommendations to the Majestic, my husband and I made reservations for the downstairs jazz club on a Friday night. We were seated promptly at the reservation time, and I am glad we made reservations, because all the tables were full.
The best part of Majestic is the ambiance. It had a very lounge-y, old-school jazz club feel. The music and musicians were fantastic! While the music was energetic, I was still able to hold a conversation with my husband. We really enjoyed the entertainment factor of the restaurant.
The service was quick and cordial, but nothing extraordinary. Our steaks (filet and ribeye) were cooked well, but not seasoned well. I would go back again for the atmosphere,though.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMI have dined at the MajesticI have dined at the Majestic over the years with business colleagues, but this was my first visit for Sunday Brunch (Easter). We were seated downstairs and enoyed a cozy ambiance as well as great music (just the right volume level). Our party ordered a variety of entres (some Brunch items and some more traditional dinner-type entres)and everyone enjoyed their selection. There service was friendly and attentive.
We will definitely head back for a another visit.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect date in KC!Incredible food (30oz Bone-in Ribeye... Ridiculously awesome) Our server (Ted) was amazing. Finally.... Great Jazz. We will definitely be back.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMJazz Club DinnerI had a guest in town so I took him to have a taste of Old Kansas City at the Majestic. The food and jazz were great, Majestic never fails to please.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Majestic is a great placeThe Majestic is a great place to get away and either have a great steak, or have a great steak and listen to some jazz. My wife and I ate there on a Tuesday night when a jazz trio was playing and got to hear--up close and personal--some incredible talent. That only added to our delicious dinner. Although the Majestic is a bit expensive, it's not an a la carte steakhouse, like so many others, so the sides come with the meals. It's a nice change from many others that require you to pay an extra $7-$10 for a side of veggies.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent atmosphere for thoseExcellent atmosphere for those who like live improvisational music and fine food! A true gem in downtown KC!3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAll I can say is that everytimeAll I can say is that everytime I go to this restaurant I'm never disappointed.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Best!I've lived in Kansas City for 40+ years and have enjoyed the steaks served around town. This was my first visit to Majestic and the bacon-wrapped tenderloin was THE BEST I've ever had!3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe tried the Majestic forWe tried the Majestic for our 22nd Anniversary on a Friday night. They have live jazz music everyday of the week, which was a bonus. They gave us a great table downstairs in the Jazz Club where we could see and hear the trio, but we could still have a conversation. We had the spinach/artichoke dip which was smoothe and creamy. I tried the chicken corn chower and my wife had the steak soup. Both were good, we both perfered the chowder. I had the ribeye and my wife had the filet. Both were tender, well seasoned, and served hot..delicious! For sides we both had the mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus which were very tasty. They gave us complimentary dessert, house-made cheesecake which was very good, not too heavy. Great ambiance!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Majestic is our firstThe Majestic is our first choice for fine dining and entertaining guests in Kansas City...and, the Majestic always delivers great food, great service and a great dining experience.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA night at the jazz clubAnother great night at the Majestic! I had a group of five who had never been from out of town so they had a taste of Kansas City at its best.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFood, Fun & a PlayThe Majestic is located on Broadway downtown but the experience was wonderful. We had dinner and walked down the street to see the play Billy Elliot. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone going to the Music Hall to see a show.1/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great nightOnce again I had guests from out of town and wanted to take them to true Kansas City dining, so the Majestic! We had drinks at the club and then down for dinner. The service was excellent and the steaks were done to perfection.1/24/2013 12:00:00 AMJust AwesomeYet again Majestic delivers a high quality meal with the Old Kansas City feel. I had the Garment District cheese cake for the first time, it was so light and fuffy, Yummy good!1/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
