Diner Reviews
  • "Everything's great about this place but wish it were about 20% less expensive. Dinner for 4 invariably comes to more than $100 per person."

  • "Tadashi Ono has brought much of his menu from Matsuri to his new restaurant, to the delight of his many fans. the new space is casually comfortable, and the staff are gorgeous."

  • "Went on a recent visit to New York for my wife's birthday. Lively place, great music and eclectic to boot. Server was very helpful and whilst patient was attentive too. Allowed us to spend time ordering piecemeal from the menu whilst we disposed of a bottle (not a flask) of sake. Food was excellent. Had a couple of drinks in the bar after to round off the evening. Great place, would definitely go again."

  • "Really love the food, ambiance, and service at MaisonO. Really cool vibe that transports you to a sort of hidden sake bar you might come across in Tokyo. Highly recommend."

  • "Don't get the edamame, I felt like I ate a charcoal that was mealy! The ceviche and tuna apps are great. The Chilean Sea Bass was ok. The creme brulee was great and I don't even like creme brulee"

  • "I really liked the food, we ordered several small dishes and they were all great. Hot sake and green tea dessert was the best!"

  • "The scene on the new Monday night parties at MaisonO is really fun, full of downtown glitterati. It's too bad that the hostesses attitude was terrible. As someone who dines out frequently in NYC facing that attitude as my first interaction with MaisonO was disappointing."

  • "It's Japanese food so the dishes are small like tapas style, but they were all delicious. My only complaint is they were all a little overpriced. Ambience is great. Dimly lit with good but not overpowering music. Nice atmosphere for a date or dinner with friends. Service was attentive and pleasant."

  • "Excellent service...great atmosphere & superbly prepared seafood. My friend and I ordered the fluke ceviche based on our waiter's suggestion. The fluke was extremely fresh & marinated in a delicious, slightly spicy citrus sauce. We ordered the miso cod & salmon teriyaki to share. The cod melts in your mouth! And the salmon was delicious as well. Not overly seasoned w teriyaki sauce. A very enjoyable dining experience all around. Will definitely be back!!"

  • "I've been several times to this fine restaurant. Food, service and ambiance never disappoint. All of the friends we have taken there enjoy it as well. The food is fresh, the menu varied, and locale excellent."

  • "In the highly competitive world of Sushi, MaisonO misses the mark. I'm not sure if it was because I dined on a Monday, but the crab hand roll was exceedingly dry and the salmon hand roll was chunky and chewy. Not inclined to return."
