This restaurant is easier to find if you ignore the address and approach it as being on Randolph Street east of Columbus, right by the Chase Bank. And it is worth finding. We shared the gougere (crispy gruyere pastry puffs)appetizer while deciding on our other selections. The waitstaff was great about my sharing salad, entree and dessert with a dining partner. The endive and roquefort salad was lovely. The plump mussels were served in a great broth, and the frites were thin, crisp, perfectly salted, and served with aoili. Bread is served with radishes, sweet butter, and salt, very French. The floating island dessert was unusual and delicious. As we left, the entire staff (servers, busboys, hosts) thanked us for coming, a gracious touch.

Maison Brasserie = perfection.Handsome decor, charming welcoming and wait staves, and food both innovative and delicious. Our table ordered their signature roasted chicken on a bed of luscious mushrooms over oil-crusted baquette, another of their signature dishes, trout with a confit of quince, and veal liver with pommes anna. And of course, their gougeres are mandatory! Lovely cheese tray and profiteroles.Did we enjoy? Very much!

We had an elegant dinner we started with outstanding paté assortment and the gougeres. My main course was Trout with fresh beans and it was amazing. Not sure what anyone else had because I was so focussed on my own plate Our wine was amazing, a 2010 Savennieres.

Don't let the view from outside trick you. The place is hidden and looks too simple but the inside is a very nice and cozy setting. We have been living just next door for the last 3 months and could not imagine how nice this place is. Both my wife and I tried the steak frites, following the recommendation from an Open Table review, and it was THE BEST in town. The deserts are also VERY good. Congrats to the pastry chef. Fantastic! We will come back often now that we have found this place.

The food is really good here. Authentic French bistro. Great mussels, frites, escargot. what is a total bummer are the following: -Ambiance: the decor here is just plain weird. Feels like a generic hotel restaurant....nothing French, bistro-ey, or stylish about it -The Crowd: Mostly older, McCormick place attendee types -Parking: there is NO valet service; and NO SIGN out front indicating where to park. The restaurant is located within a "maze" of high rise buildings, and the garage parking is almost impossible to find. (We almost gave up and ate somewhere else) There are many other great bistros in Chicago to visit (Paris Club, Bistro Margo, Le Sardine to name a few) that feel authentically Parisian and with better wine l

This was my first time here and it was a great experience. Our server, whose name I cannot remember, did a fabulous job. Spaced things well, made some great recommendations and was knowledgeable and answered questions flawlessly. While I wasn't keen on the wine list, he made an appropriate recommendation.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2011VIP
    Dined on 2/23/2013
While the bistro food was very good, service and ambiance were marginal. First, the location is hard to find and feels forced for a bistro in the rather antiesptic world of the new Eastside - kind of like being in suburbs. Had to park in a grocery store parking lot and navigate concrete and steel to find the restaurant. Since new, given a marginal table near door. Server was fine, but little things were noticed - like using the dinner knives for bread plate, and then having the server take the plate but save the knife for dinner service (?). Final annoyance was the chef having an argument with a server in full view and hearing of customers. I think they will try hard, but location, service and ambiance will keep me away.

Restaurant borders the new Marianos supermarket and the complex of apt buildings off E Randolph such as Aqua. Nice view of the park area from our table. We were there early so not crowded. Tried the baked onion soup which was almost creamy and very delicious. There was a snail appetizer and mussels dish for main course which was thoroughly enjoyed by someone on our party. Beef bourginoun was just ok-beef a bit tough and not as many veges in it as menu indicated.

We LOVE this restaurant! We have been back several times and it is SO good. Dishes we h enjoy include the gougeres, the trout (brilliant!), and the short ribs. Great salads too. I love the fact that the bar is separated from the main dining room. But if you want a slightly more casual experience, the cafe in the bar is really fun. Same menu, just a little less formal. Do not be discouraged if you can't easily find Maison. When arriving by car, the good news is you can park for only $4. The bad news is there is NO signage in the garage, and the route back up to street level is very confusing. Once you know where it is, it's almost easier to go by taxi and just get dropped off on the street.

My wife and I have been dining at Maison once every couple of weeks since it opened. From the moment we check in, the staff is warm and friendly, always making us feel like they are happy to have us dine at the restaurant. The food is always excellent, the two main dining rooms are very different but both are comfortable. The room in the back has large windows with views of Lake Shore East Park. The room in the front is more intimate and quiet. The service is always prompt and friendly. My wife and I are 60 years-old and we appreciate that Maison is an adult restaurant with good jazz and other adult music, rather that the loud noise that passes for music in many Chicago restaurants which seem to want to cater only to folks from 18-30.

Tucked away behind some office buildings, once you see a red, low-slung building with a large M on the side, you know you're in the right place. The building contains both a small "cafe" where patrons seemed to be office workers from near-by high rises eating soups, salads and sandwiches & a more formal restaurant with white table cloths & a full service menu. Lots to choose from on the menu, with all of your brasserie favorites. My table of 5 women at a vendor-client lunch enjoyed the very good pate plate, delicious salads, soups, & sandwiches, but there is also heartier fare with full entree size portions available. Service is attentive but non-intrusive. Not a place to bring the kiddies - the room was quiet & the vibe was grown-up.
