A word from Maison Boulud
Maison Boulud Montréal offers the cuisine of a chef steeped in French tradition, yet inspired by decades spent cooking in New York City.
Daniel Boulud's menu is driven by the seasons and bounty of Québec's local purveyors. The result: refined yet soulful contemporary French food, prepared here by Executive Chef Riccardo Bertolino.
While situated in the Ritz-Carlton, the restaurant, its bar & lounge and two private dining rooms have a vibrant identity all their own. Maison Boulud enjoys a view over the historic hotel garden and year round glass enclosed winter garden. Daniel Boulud's welcoming spirit, the casually elegant tone and glimpses of a partly open kitchen keep the focus on the cuisine, making this a daily gathering place for wonderful food.

Saturday night, I felt like having a really nice dinner with a friend that has the same taste in food as me. I have been to Maison Boulud for lunch but never for dinner but knew that they had some "ris de veau" on the menu. What a disappointment to see that no sweetbreads were on the menu that evening. But the worse you can get when you ask a question is the answer "no". So I ask to the very nice waiter if the chef would agree to a special request. Needless to say we had the best sweetbreads we ever tasted. Thank you to both of you. Wine was well suggested and we had a wonderful time catching up with our lifes without being rushed. Oh! did I mentionned the "os à la moelle"?????? Just amazingly delicious. Will be back again and again

Maison Boulud is always fantastic - and I'm writing this as someone who dines out very frequently. The service is impeccable - the Gold Standard; the food swoon-worthy and the wine and cocktails truly excellent. The ambiance is perfect for a romantic evening, or a girls' night out, or getting together with old friends. Just go!

We came here with high expectations. No flaw with the service. Waiter and servers were very polite and prompt. Overall service is only missing the extra care to recommend and provide assurance to us the guests (some other highly rated restaurants give the comfort of knowing we will like what we order or they will replace with something we like - did not receive this assurance or vibe at Maison Boulud). Good service overall. Excellent food presentation. Ingredient quality and food taste are well above average. Not a superb dining experience, but we are happy with the overall dining experience.

We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and sat at the bar. The bartender was an absolute doll. We ordered a drink called Smoke & Mirrors. All I can say is, W-O-W! Smoke & Mirrors is a mix of tequila, Chartreuse, Lillet Blanc, lapsang souchong-infused agave nectar and white pepper. It was refreshing and relaxing. Our hostess seated us shortly after. The atmosphere was elegant, classy, and creative. The energy in the room seemed to move. The service was impeccable. The food was amazing! Nothing was overpowered. Each dish was balanced and light. Each flavor held up to the other without conflict. We loved this dining experience! Dessert was a chocolate/hazelnut crunch and separately, limoncello sorbet. Yumm!

We had the tasting menu and shared the wine pairings which the host suggested we do to keep the cost within reason (for us). Every morsel of the 5 courses (really 6) was superb. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who can afford it or for a special occasion for which you might have "saved up".

Although my meal was very good, a pasta dish with eggplant, two of the four of us were not pleased. The service was very slow; when we hit 2 1/2 hours, we didn't want to stay longer for dessert. So A for food and C- for service.

Maison Boulud sits tucked inside the Ritz-Carlton in Montreal. Beautifully lit space with a towering wine rack visible upon entering the restaurant. Well-trained people greeted and escorted us to our table where we had reservations for 8:30 pm Saturday night. Wine was served exquisitely by the house sommelier and the food was divine: Veal Chop for me and Braised Duck with fois grois for my wife. Dinner capped with a tawn port and shared scoops of rhubarb, cherry and lemon sorbet. It is expensive but worth every penny if you seek a memorable dining experience in Montreal.

Although we thought this would be more of a Classic French restaurant both in decor and food, we were pleased with our meal. Foie gras was good but a bit too crusted for my taste. Mediterranean sea bass and pigeon both had very good flavor and the accompaniments were delicious. Desserts were also very good.

Far from being the 5 star restaurant I expected. We were sitting so close to our neighbors that we could hear their conversation. Food: nice presentation, but not impressive! We booked Maison Boulud to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We mentioned when booking two weeks earlier, but despite that, we were strung like sardines in the canopy. Very disapointed.

If Daniel Boulud is putting his name on this restaurant with Chef-de-cuisine Riccardo Bertolini at the helm, I'm wondering what Boulud is conjuring up at his flagship restaurant Daniel in Manhattan. We will be going there next! The two of us did the 5-course tasting menu with wine pairing which was superb. Our sommelier Mylene was very knowledgable and took the time to explain every glass of wine we had. She even encouraged our questions and discussions about other wines. She asked us what other restaurants we had tried in Montreal. When we told her, she said we should try Toque because her boyfriend Carl works there. We told her we had lunch reservations at Toque the next day. (We met Carl the next day, but that's another review!)

We had an amazing lunch here when we were visiting Montreal. Beautiful setting overlooking a garden oasis next to the Ritz Carlton. Barnacle fricassee (!) was served in oyster ramekin and was unique and delicious. Expecting something less than stellar in the pasta pesto, but was delighted with the home made pasta, and a silky, subtle and nuanced pesto sauce that was completely satisfying. World class dining.

I anticipated this dining experience to place in my all-time Top 5. Not even close. Cucumber Gaspacho: 1 dimensional, made worse given the enormous serving. Nicely seared Swordfish: pale pink inside and well-seasoned. Fish overwhelmed by messy over-cooked vegetables and squid. Sockeye Salmon was tasteless and plated with another messy combination of vegetables. The pot of not sufficiently drained, under seasoned, steamed spinach was horrible. Manged 2 bites and the cheese. Highlight - Chocolate Coulant and Limoncello. Both lovely to look at & lovely on the palate. Terrace was uncomfortably hot given the sunny, humid day. Tables 7" too deep, inhibiting what should have been an intimate dinner. Service excellent. Wine pairings suitable.

Upon arrival there was no one to greet us. Walked back into Resturant to be met by very unpleasant hostess. Told had reservation requested seating on terrace. She rudely responded none available. We asked how long a wait. Rudely responded I don't know! We asked her to check, she walked away. Waiting for her to return, the maître d asked if he could help. We explained we wanted to sit on terrace , he very politely said weekends it was first come, we were fine with his explanation. He sat us at table near the window, The other hostess never returned. I ordered pancakes and was told none available. Maybe tomorrow ? Very disappointed and will not return.
