A word from Maison Boulud
Maison Boulud Montréal offers the cuisine of a chef steeped in French tradition, yet inspired by decades spent cooking in New York City.
Daniel Boulud's menu is driven by the seasons and bounty of Québec's local purveyors. The result: refined yet soulful contemporary French food, prepared here by Executive Chef Riccardo Bertolino.
While situated in the Ritz-Carlton, the restaurant, its bar & lounge and two private dining rooms have a vibrant identity all their own. Maison Boulud enjoys a view over the historic hotel garden and year round glass enclosed winter garden. Daniel Boulud's welcoming spirit, the casually elegant tone and glimpses of a partly open kitchen keep the focus on the cuisine, making this a daily gathering place for wonderful food.

  • "Make resos inside restaurant, there is a enclosed area that feels like an indoor patio. The unfortunate thing is the tables are so close together that you can't help but to talk to your neighbors. Not ideal, we were there celebrating my birthday which is fine, but couple next to us were celebrating their anniversary. You cant help but to over hear conversation. I would return but I would NOT sit in the "patio" area. "

  • "Great place as always. The highlights of the tasting menu were: 1) halibut 2) lamb and home made pasta 3) pineapple dessert Great wine pairing from Isabelle."

  • "The experience was a little disappointing. On the start we were told two items were no longer available on the menu. We ordered the meat well done and received it medium well, did not return, as a rule we never return an item. We made reservations and suddenly were being set up at the bar, until a waiter told us we would have a table, thankfully. Overall we were expecting a lot better than what it was."

  • "Went there for my mother's birthday and thought it was average for the price and reputation of the chef. The dessert was the best part, but the selection of mains were not very exciting. Most of the dishes were slightly on the saltier side and definitely not comparable to any 2 or 3 star michelin rated restaurant. The ambiance and service were excellent, nice, friendly and professional staff."

  • "It is the third time I have had a Saturday lunch and it has been consistently wonderful on all levels. The food was delicious, the ambiance was very relaxing and our waiter did not rush us. The service was excellent."

  • "The menu featured 3-4 dishes in each of several categories like fish, pasta, meat, fowl, etc. plus some specials. Every item that came to our table was excellent. Everything is locally or regionally sourced, and fresh. The wine list was extensive, and included an amazing array of French wines - more than some of the better restaurants in NYC. The prices are a bit high compared to other top flight restaurants, but well worth it. Some of the wine prices were ridiculously high, but it was very easy to find an excellent wine at an appropriate price in the extensive wine list. ONE WORD OF CAUTION, however, for those who are not familiar with Quebec. The tax is almost 20%, which makes a pricey dinner very expensive, even before the tip."

  • "A very special experience from start to finish. Professional service in a beautiful restaurant. The food was totally amazing. The flavors, the textures, the colors….all the plates were surprising. Unfortunately, we were sitting at a table in the back and while my wife was facing the fireplace etc, I had the view of the desk and computer for placing orders to the kitchen. This seating must be better at lunch time in daylight since you probably have the view of the garden. Nevertheless, it was great and we will return (when we can afford it again !)."

  • "The Ritz has undergone a complete renovation and so has the restaurant that occupied this prestigious building. Maison Boulud has opened two to three years ago and it is my third to fourth experience, at the bar or the restaurant. The setting is very elegant and intimate, service is impeccable, food is very elaborate and the wine list goes from an affordable $50/60 a bottle to a few thousand $! Seared foie gras at its best, Italian flavor as a main course and contemporary baba au rhum to finish. My next experience will surely be brunch or a weekday lunch"

  • "The food is very fresh, well prepared, fantastic presentation! Wonderful service experts!!! I did find that 68.00 for breakfast for 2 was expensive. I understand the egg Benedict plate, there is some preparation time involved. But an omelette with caramelized onions and cherry tomatoes for 16.00 is a little too much. It could go down to 12.00 and they would still make a decent profit after labor. Eggs cost less than 40 cents each at retail price. I figured a restaurant buys them at approx 25 cents each or less."

  • "We enjoyed an amazing experience - We had requested the discovery menu/wine pairing and they offered it - exclusively - for our anniversary! Thoughtful service & amazing food made it a memorable visit! Dessert plate was personnalized to celebrate our special occasion... can't say THANK YOU enough!"

  • "We love to eat in the "atrium" area rather than the main dining room both for lunch and dinner. It has an open airy feeling with large windows looking out onto the back of the restaurant. Stand out dishes were the Jerusalem artichoke soup with hazelnut Chantilly, the puff pastry with baby artichoke and truffle dressing and the cocoa marbled foie gras terrine. I love artichokes so much I had the crunchy fried artichoke side dish for dessert! All were great. Will happily return. The service is attentive and approachable."

  • "I appreciate my experience at Maison Boulud. Food very good, and service also. What I missed is in the ambience and style of later restaurant which was more in tune with the Ritz - now this space is very cold and anonym. Maybe it will be different in the garden this summer."

  • "I went for a Sunday brunch for my friend's birthday. The service was good and efficient. The portion were small. One of my friend ordered the Salmon, some of the layers were not freshed and seemed to have been hidden at the bottom. They charge 25$ for a birthday cake that is relatively small. Overall this restaurant is overpriced (45$) for the portion and the quality of the food being served. I do not recommend it."

  • "food was not that good, strange combination, fish overcooked, they offer me to change it but, let's be honest when it's to cook it's to cook. The plate where beautiful, but no wow in eating them, so what the point? I was maybe expecting to much ?"

  • "My wife & I have eaten in many wonderful restaurants in Montreal, Chicago, NYC, London and elsewhere. The dinner that we had this weekend was THE best! Those black truffles... to die for. Excellent, friendly & knowledgeable service. Great wine list. Bravo!"

  • "We dined at Maison Bolud the other night. The meal was less than stellar. The wine came corked and the waiter and somellier came back saying that the wine was fine - I was in total disagreement. The meal was lack-lustre to say the least. Nothing special for a place with a storied name behind it. Montreal was nothing like Toronto. Toronto was exceptional and Montreal ho hum. I'm not hurrying back."

  • "Celebrated our golden anniversary here....A most pleasant atmosphere at Maison Boulud, decor chic, classy, staff is genuine and extremely helpful, cuisine way above what we did experienced lately from a local competitor, we will both remember for a very long time."

  • "Some friends of our mother who go to the Ritz regularly (they love the espresso martinis) highly recommended your restaurant to us. So we recently booked a lunch this past week and were all very impressed with the food, atmosphere, service, wine. The price of our meal was actually reasonable in light of the high quality of this fine dining establishment. It was much better than last year's choice (Toqué)! The birthday girl was delighted with her outing downtown!"

  • "This was an incredible experience. I went with my boyfriend for dinner on my birthday. We both had the tasting menu and a bottle of wine. The wine was mellow and delicious.. the food was exquisite, beautifully plated, and textural (which I love). I could taste the sea foods' freshness, and the lamb was perfectly cooked. The service was impeccable, each dish was described to us, and the staff was incredibly attentive and always smiling. They even told jokes. They wrote Happy Birthday with my name on it.. I thought that was personable and sweet. It was the best birthday dinner I've ever had, and that includes the experience as a whole, not just the food."

  • "My husband and I were here to celebrate an anniversary and overall, had a pleasant experience. The waiter was very attentive and it was quiet enough so we could hear each other's conversation! Our starters were very good except my kampachi was a little small (but delicious and plated beautifully). Our mains were the langoustine risotto and venison which we both enjoyed. Many delicious offerings on their dessert menu."

  • "Transformation chic The front room was bright ,surrounded by a fireplace and bar. We were taken to the back room near the gardens. Table proximity along the wall at the banquette too close and not romantic, not pleasant. Ordered the lobster ravioli ,got one noodle atop what seemed to be lobster meat at a very high price. The wine suggested was awful and the waiter told us it needed to breath to get the fizz out. We were at the end of the bottler before it started to taste drinkable. The bill came in at a whopping $ 300 plus with 2 main meals, a bottle of wine and cheese platter. I high price to pay for starvation and just décor. Upon exiting the restaurant I noticed VIP or regulars get the best seats in the house."
