Maison BouludRelaxing and delicious dinnerSuperb foie gras entree and excellent sea bass and venison mains. Cocktails as ever were delicious and wine pairings recommended by sommelier were spot on. Service slowed down dramatically for dessert and the bill as happens in SO many restaurants though not previously here. Will be back soon.12/3/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique food combinations butUnique food combinations but lots of choices for all palates. Great wine selection and service.12/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was the second time myThis was the second time my wife and I were going to this restaurant for a lush Saturday lunch. The food and the ambience were excellent as expected. What was not expected was an underwhelming service by our waiter who, I guess, did not find it necessary to elaborate at all on the food he was placing in front of us. I find it difficult to criticize him too harshly because he was likeable and at least he knew his wines. Hopefully this represents an aberration because we like the restaurant and we would like to come back.9/3/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyableEnjoyed the experience with good service, top quality food and an extensive, if expensive, wine list. Pleasant pace to meal and noise levels allow for quiet conversation.8/3/2013 12:00:00 AMVery impressed!Party of two & first time dining at this restaurant. Food was excellent, very well-prepared. Every element on each plate had distinctive flavor. Ambiance very nice. Neither too loud nor too quiet. Decor contemporary, with warm colors & copper/glass fireplace. Seating very comfortable. Service very fast & courteous. Only very small criticism would be because service was fast & there was different server for every element of the meal (amuse-bouche, cocktails, order, bread, water, sommelier, first course, main course, dessert, coffee) their signals got crossed on couple occasions: Chose one of two wines from sommelier & server brought the one we didn't choose. Also sparkling water glass got refilled with tap water before we could say anything.7/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI will come back!Ex-Aquo with my number One resto (my favorite for years...)!
Excellent food (original ingredients, perfect mix of textures, superb "présentation", perfect cooking), in a very nice setting!7/3/2013 12:00:00 AMlunch on the terraceLovely sunny day warrented a leisurely lunch on the terrace. Food- in particular the fresh linguini with summer truffles was superb- redolent of summer. Service was somewhat inattentive and we frequently had to flag someone down for something like more water or a refill of wine.. The staff all looked oddly less professional in their attire. Jackets that didn't fit the men and the women in poor quality suits that actually had stains on them.
The food was Boulud standard but definitely not the service elements.
The outdoor spac was charming.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice restaurantWe had a drink at the bar before dinner but the cocktails were a little disappointing.
The food and service was excellent and it is a nice setting.
The warm madeleines just out of the oven that were brought to our table after dessert were just dabulous!
We would definitely return if in Montreal again6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExpectationsInside has open kitchen, wine rack, fireplace. Table near garden, modern, casual, larger wood tables, chairs. Busy for a Monday . Had tasting menu: $85. Chef’s choice. You say allergies or food(s) you don’t eat. Everyone had to order the same. Bread basket was plain. The rest was nicely presented, very good, with explanation. We enjoyed every course and were full at the end . Desert: basket of bite sized lemony cakes with icing sugar . Good but didn’t measure up in style. Service attentive -not spectacular. Drinks good. Wine price high. My birthday so more little cakes with a candle . Worth going; nice for occasion.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply the bestI know there are so many choices of fine restaurants in Montreal but this one has to be the very best!
It has the basic respect for food that gets lost in so many restaurants these days, great ingredients, great taste and great presentation. It is a must if visiting Montreal.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMAs excellent as ever. EvenAs excellent as ever. Even on Saturday night of Grand Prix weekend, the service was great, attentive and prefessional. The somelier (Isabel) gets a special mention for the wine advice and the immediate replacement of a lightly corked white Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
The food was fine and delicate (starters; scalaps, crab, sardines, ravilolo. Mains; artic char, black cod paella, halibut, lobster lasange. Dessert; vacherin, hazelnut). It was very carefully prepared and a feast for the eyes as well.
The music was a little bit loud at the start but they lowered the volume after a request.
The top dining experience in Montreal.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent experience for a first !Food prepare with attention and gastromony.
Excellent and pleasant service.
Will go back.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious and perfectThe food was delectable and ambience perfect!
Luxurious without being pompous.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe discovery menu was fantastic,The discovery menu was fantastic, the wine pairing very interesting and the service warm and friendly.
Boulud can be proud of its team of waiters, the most smiling one in town.
Thank you for a wonderful evening.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was outstandingThe service was outstanding and food was very good6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMTried the chef's tasting menu...lovTried the chef's tasting menu...loved it because we were able to specify certain items we did not want in our courses (e.g., sweetbreads or foie gras), which were otherwise a surprise. The format enabled me to try foods I ordinarily wouldn't order, and the ladies and gents at the table got a variety of different dishes to sample. They also surprised my parents with a happy anniversary plate of madeleines. Très délicieux!6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceThe food was very good but pricey, however, the service and the ambiance more than makes the price well worth it.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMEach dish is a masterpiece! WOWJust lived it! I live in Montreal an I would say that this restaurant is actually the best in the city. Food was amazing, great service, and great ambiance. Somehow expensive but worth it!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMPhenomenal serviceWe went with friends this past Saturday night and we had à wonderful time. The food was wonderful, the setting beautiful but what stands out was the incredible service. Merci et bravo !5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMSublimeMaison Boulud is superb in all respects, professional service, beautiful decor and fabulous food.
I have dined at DB and Bistro Boulud in NYC, Bar Boulud and Cafe Boulud in Toronto, and I can say Maison Boulud in Montreal is my top choice.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMmodern but also cozythis restaurant is not the old traditional decor of the ritz. it is definitely on the modern side but the decor and atmosphere is nevertheless quite warm.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMaison Boulud experience greatWe started off with the pan seared foie gras. What we appreciated was that when we told the server that my husband and I would be sharing the dish, the kitchen divided it on 2 separate plates upon arrival at our table. The foie was excellent. i ordered the lobster lasagnette which i loved! very light but still filling. my husband had Daniel Boulud's signature duo of beef. we've both tried his duo at Cafe Boulud in Toronto and at Daniel in NYC. much much better than Toronto's. i loved the root veggies which came with the dish, however, i found the short ribs kind of dry. the beef tenderloin was ok, i've had more tender. Overall a great meal and great service but their signature duo of beef can be improved.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch out with the girlsWent with a few of my friends for lunch on a Saturday.
We were asked if we wanted to be sitted in the back near the pond.
Which we did.
Food and service was very good.
Had the fixed 3 course meal for $37.00. Had the salad, lamb and for desert the profiterole.
Very happy with what I ordered.
My other friends ordered other things on the menu and they all enjoyed just as well.
The food was tasty and very good.
Have to point out the excellent service received at the restaurant.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful Restaurant & Good ServiceIt's a beautiful restaurant and we had great service. The food and the presentation is excellent, try the Loster Lasagnette.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful nightFood was terrific, service was terrific, was an incredible night with great food and great wine. We were out for a special night and the only complaint was that the tables were too big! We were so far apart that it was hard at times to talk, not as intimate as we had hoped. But that was the only complaint. Everything else was incredible!
Make sure money isn't an issue though, because it isn't cheap. This isn't a complaint, just a heads up. Expect to spend $400 or more.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe certainly would recommendWe certainly would recommend it. Everything was perfect, including the timing.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMgarden view with delishes foodThe atmosphere was wonderful and the food was very good. Great presentation and service. A great restaurant for special occasions.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice night outWe preferred our appetizers to our main courses - but in all, the food was very good. Our waiter was a bit strange, but inadvertently provided us with a few good laughs :)5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday LunchAmazing! Daniel Boulud is a master chef hands down!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMStill sublimely delicious!3rd visit inside a year. Service even better now. Chef and kitchen fell over themselves to accommodate celiac guest. Standouts were the egg yolk riccotta raviolo with ramps and mushrooms; the seared foie gras with pear; the grilled quail with vadouvan; and the amuse of pea soup (and I typically can't stand pea soup!) that I could have inhaled a gallon of. Toutefois, le décor et la carte des vins sont magnifiques5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMI am a great fan of MaisonI am a great fan of Maison Boulud ... and will go back again & again !!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAlmost perfectLe repas était parfait
J'y retourne5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMFor the perfect occasionIf you are looking for a good restaurant for a special occasion, this is the place.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMVery gracious service in anVery gracious service in an attractive room. The food was quite good but not up to what one expects from a 'celebrity' chef with a reputation like D. Boulud's.1/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
