Owner and Chef, Akira Hirose, has created an exquisite menu featuring French cuisine with a Japanese flair.
In this casual, but elegant atmosphere, one can experience fine dining with an international flair. Akira takes personal interest in preparing each selection with the freshest ingredients for a culinary delight. Entrees include, Miso Marinated Grilled Chilean Sea Bass and Roasted Rack of Lamp in a Rosemary Sauce.

  • "We had always gone to Maison Akira for special occasions but had not been in a while and wondered if they had plateau'ed. It was better than ever! The menu is extensive, 2 pre-fixes,, tasting menu, unique specials. The food exceeded our expectations, service impeccable, ambience lovely. A small touch that impressed us: After we'd been seated, a man with a loud voice was seated around the corner from us--so they diplomatically asked if we wanted to move, they would set up a new corner table in the main room and made the evening perfect. Also, the Chef came out to speak with the diners, always a treat, and wonderful he has not handed over this gem to someone else. We didn't want the evening to end. Highly recommend!"

We ordered the Six Course Epicurean Menu with wine pairings and were not disappointed. The service was attentive and professional."

I should have done the Snake River farms upgrade on the restaurant week sirloin. I don't know why I didn't...probably would have bumped my food rating up another star as it was at Maison Akira that I solidified my decisioin that I really dislike sirloin."

  • "Searching for an indoor brunch for a rainy day birthday celebration, we tried Maison Akira. I requested a quiet spot since we have a couple of hearing impaired people in our party of 6, and for the first 45 minutes we were alone in our room which was much appreciated. It was an intimate feeling. After that, several more parties were seated in our room, including one large group, but the noise level never got very high. The food selection on the buffet is small but good. The cold appetizer courses leaned Japanese and the hot courses were mostly meat, vegetables and potatoes. Dessert selection was particularly appetizing. Two mimosas are included for an extra $3, a good deal. Everything was well cooked and delicious. We'll be back."

  • "I had a dinner date with a close friend and I picked Maison Akira because of its intriguing "Japanese French Fusion" concept. We were not disappointed. There were so many exciting and interesting options on the menu that we could barely decide on what to get. We settled on splitting 7 or 8 different appetizers. Everything was super delicious and of note, the Oyster Flan was amazing! I will admit that I wanted to try to the signature Sea Bass dish but I couldn't turn down the idea of sampling many of the appetizers. The restaurant itself was nice -- a classic French look with ornate chairs and white linen tablecloths. The ambiance was romantic though at 8 pm on a Wednesday, there were only a handful of other patrons."

The four course meal included a delicate smoked salmon with caviar, soup/salad, the main course and a desert medley as well as an amuse bouche to start. All courses were outstanding in their preparation, one of our best meals out in a long time! The prix fixe menu was the only pricey option for Valentine's Day, and the service was attentive but a bit too quick as each time a course was finished the next came out, not giving us enough time to linger over the sumptuous meal."

  • "I went on 2/15 and I didn't know they only had the valentines menu. I thought we could order something else as well because I had a few things in mind that I really wanted to try. They didn't inform us at the reception and it wasn't polite to leave after we have been seated so we decided to give it a try. The food was okay but i didn't think it was worth the price. Maybe because I wasn't that interested in the items that were on the valentines menu but my partner thought it was only soso too. I do hope that other course are great because I was dying to try and have heard great things :)"

  • "Went here for a double date Valentine's Day dinner with my boyfriend and his parents. Their menu is incredible and has everything you could ever hope to find at a high scale restaurant. I ordered the Venison and we all agreed, it was the best we have ever had. No joke, it melts in your mouth. My boyfriend had the bento which was wonderful because we were able to sample a variety of amazing dishes. His father ordered the duck which was not greasy or fatty which many times is the case at other places, but at Maison Akira it is perfectly cooked and seasoned. Absolutely superb food and service all around. Definitely a "special evening" outing but utterly worth it. Now my sights are on the brunch they offer. We will absolutely be back."

Wonderful ambiance, excellent menu -- the Sea Bass is indeed exceptional, and I loved the white corn soup. Everyone in our party only had praise. The hostess was very courteous and able to accommodate my party and the waitress was great. -- Good ambiance -- Seafood menu choices are excellent. I highly recommend them. Bads: -- The meat choices are not good. The Wagyu beef appetizer is a small beef patty that seems a little overcooked. I was extremely disappointed with the upgraded Kobe NY steak option. I didn't quite expect real Kobe quality but I was expecting a much more marbly texture. Instead I got a fatty piece of meat. I saw next table's normal Beef Steak option and that was much better. Not worth it. -- I also signed up for wine pairing. You only get 2. I was expecting a port to pair with dessert."

They knew when to come and would never interrupt. The dessert took a little longer towards the end, but it was delicious nonetheless. The restaurant was ready to accomodate my needs and would do substitutes for desserts. Great place to come to for some good food and good company!"

  • "This is the 2nd time i am here. The first time was 2 years ago and the food was great and service is great (I would give 4-5 star that year). This time we were disappointed by the appetizer and main course. The beef, egg and toast look and taste like American breakfast dish, the salmon salad could use more veggie and less meat and the sea bass.....what can i say it tasted more like Chinese food than french. The service is great and the wine is still good but strongly not considering it for next year."

Service was awesome and attentive, sea bass was extremely well done! I was craving for the sea bass again so I went to the dineLA week to Maison Akira. I feel like because they lower the price, they lower the quality ingredients as well. It does not taste that good compared to my first time dining there (inconsistency). Service was okay, not that attentive. I completely understand that it was busy, but I think management should be prepared for this especially when they decided to promote their restaurant through dineLA."

  • "The restaurant is beautiful from the outside,and very presentable on the inside, the web sight looked lovely also,however unfortunately it was no where near worth the prices charged. The servers were not trained properly, the looked miserable,no smiles on their faces.... The food overall was extremely salty, the sea bass was frozen and under cooked twice. I really wanted to be able to come back to this atmosphere for dining but I cant recommend it to anyone."

  • "i live for little restaurants with a homelike atmosphere and maison akira has it, as well as a catchy name. we started with the duck pate. it was the lowlight of the meal because it came without toastpoints, just soft bread from the basket and there was no mustard. luckily it DID come with cornichon but it lacked flavor. for our entrees we had duck breast and ribeye and both were DEElicious as were the accompaniments. for dessert we had the apple tart and coffee. no complaints there. also, just as everyone mentions the service is exactly appropriate for a fine restaurant."
