Maison AkiraGreat serviceThe most notable part of our meal was the impeccable service. Before we even ordered, our waiter was seeing if he could get us another table with less walk-by traffic (we didn't ask). It almost seemed like we had our own personal staff of servers and noone was intrusive. I do think that they do not need to keep filling our water glasses quite so much.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was awesome as usualFood was awesome as usual and Chef Akira came out to greet us which was so special. There was four of us and it was 100% that the food and service was spectacular! And the wine too! What a classy place...
I was also there a week earlier with 7 of us for dinner and had the same wonderful experience!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and qualityExcellent food and quality much more than I expected from the price for the course that we ordered, so happily surprised.
Attention to details but not too trying too much being "different" like some of newer restaurants.
Very elegant and quit space, able to enjoy conversation with friends.
This restaurant reminded us what great French food and restaurant should be; elegant, yet feel at home. I recommend for any special occasions to share with people you care.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect for dinner beforePerfect for dinner before going to the Pasadena Playhouse.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMservingsBest in the menu is the ability to order regular/small servings of most if not all offerings vs the messy business of sharing.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMPrix Fixe Menus Highly RecommendedCan't say enough about the prix fixe menus at Maison Akira (at their ".net" site). We live in the SF Bay Area and have had 2 wonderful five-course+ dinners there in last 6 months. The food is very creatively presented, often in unique combinations, fresh, plentiful, and a great value for the money. Chef Akira Hirose often visits each table. He has a fascinating background that his food always showcases.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AM10 Course MealExcellent as usual, especially the 10 course meal!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMMaison Akira is one of theMaison Akira is one of the most famous foodie spots in Pasadena. We had one of its pre-fixe menus with wine pairing. The Snake River Farm Waygu beef was quite good. The ambiance is a bit old school, and towards the end of our meal, the staff were busy folding tables and moving chairs... They should at least wait until the customers to leave to do that. I thought the food was good, but the staff weren't that professional.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb, start to finish...decor,Superb, start to finish...decor, food, service, ambiance. Our lovely French server added greatly to the experience...she was warm, charming, helpful [even speaking a bit of Japanese to my guests from Japan], and she smiled throughout. The evening could not have been more perfect.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMCompliments to the ChefOne of our favorite restaurants in Pasadena. Their fish was outstanding. The whole meal was delicious - we had the fish of the day and the famous Chilean Sea Bass. We love the atmostphere - it's homey and very quiet, conducive for conversation.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMExquisite food and dining.Exquisite food and dining. Can be pricey but quality of food and presentation is top notch.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is one of my favoriteThis is one of my favorite restaurants, the service is always excellent and they always remember me when I visit. That personal touch is very important to me as a customer. The food is amazing, although being a French restaurant, the portions aren't very big. Personally, I like it that way, but some people may feel turned off by that style. In addition to the food always being great, the presentation is beautiful as well.
I heartily recommend this restaurant for couples and for a romantic night out. For a guy's or girl's night out though, I would look elsewhere, as the ambiance of this place is more suited to couples.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMA Pasadena GemI have eaten at the Sunday Brunch as well as Dinner. While the menu appears to be a bit different, the items offered are well varied and very technical in their preparation. The restaurant is small and intimate. The food is very good!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMdelicious, intimate, authentic, delicious, intimate, authentic, amazing food!! will be dining here everytime we visit pasadena! highly recommend great value for such delicious fresh inventive food!!2/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWent a while back for a "GirlsWent a while back for a "Girls Night Out," the dinner-date was a success. Although we arrived only 30 min before closing, the hosts & servers were very accommodating. Food was delectable in presentation and flavor profiles. Definitely a neighborhood gem!1/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is fabulous food. However,This is fabulous food. However, having made a reservation through Open Table for Christmas Eve, having come from out of town, we had no warning of the special prix fixe dinner at $100 per person if no wine, $140 per person if wine pairings with the dinner. We were surprised and had probably our most expensive meal ever. Nevertheless, it was a notable experience and memorable for the price but more importantly for the family gathering to enjoy the wonderfully artful and tasty French Japanese fusion food.12/24/2012 12:00:00 AMgreat food. strongly recommendgreat food. strongly recommend even it's a little pricy.7/27/2012 12:00:00 AMGo here for dinner! Brunch is so-soElegant design. Beautiful interior. Service was great.
Took my friend for his birthday since this is one of his favorite restaurants. We had Sunday brunch reservations a table of 6. I was running late and called the restaurant. Some of my guest arrived there before me and the host offered to seat them first but my friends asked if they could wait until my arrival and they were very accommodating to this. When our whole party was present we were seated promptly. They had a wide selection of food but it was mediocre at best. However, their desserts were pretty good. They had a great selection of sweets. I would stick to going here for dinner, I have not tried it myself but I've heard it's pretty good.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
