MaialinoConsistent and always a pleasureWe have been to Maialino five or six time - always for lunch or weekend brunch, and we just love it. The food is delicious yet simple; the room is perfectly styled to achieve warmth in a classic European style; the atmosphere is just right as far as we're concerned - you feel like you're in a special place without any fuss or pretensions.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious and unforgettable!!We had a memorable dinner! Loved the pasta!!! Service!!!!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMsmall tablewe made a reservation for 4 but they offered only a small table that could not hold all of the bottles, glasses and plates of food. we had to stack wine and water bottles etc on the nearby floor to leave room for the food. the server did nothing to help sort this out5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMdeliciousVery delicious meal, attentive and friendly service (all the servers smile), not too noisy once you sit in the dining room (bar area is a real "in" scene), reasonable prices, nice wine list (some of which you can try before ordering a bottle), looking forward to return5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely lunch placeThis restaurant has great ambience and interesting decor. The service was great and the food very good. Wonderful breads. Nice $15 lunch special.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect....AgainI've been to this restaurant 30 times. It is consistently perfect.
The food is gorgeous and presented beautifully, rooted in few ingredients that are all "Farm to Fork" fresh - the cornerstone of truly great Italian food. The menu changes regularly - although some of my favorites remain constants.
The service is casual, attentive and perfect. The staff are always present and never on top of you. They are incredibly knowledgeable and attentive. There wine selection and cocktails are great.
The decor is perfectly executed Tuscan style with perfect lighting and a view on New York's Gramercy Park.
It's fit for foodies, for groups and it is also romantic. Love it!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMmother's day brunch here wasmother's day brunch here was perfect. great scene, great food, perfect brunch spot.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDoesn't miss a beatRepeat visits never disappoint. To mix things up, we tried the Sunday night pasta tasting menu with wine pairings. Delicious and fun.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMItalian ExtraordinaryEnjoy these exceptionally prepared and presented dishes in a beautiful room looking out on Gramercy Park. What else can one say? hint? Order a dish containing the specialty pork.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly recommended!I dine out quite a bit and I feel like I am always looking for a restaurant just like this. It was so comfortable...down to the ambience, menu, and the service. I felt so welcome and had a hard time choosing what I wanted to eat...always a great sign. The wine list was thorough with some of my favorite Italian selections and at a decent price. Now if they would just have another location in my home city, Nashville, I would be so happy!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat maialinoThe food we had was outstanding. we basically had pork three ways: pate di campagna, tagliatelle with pork ragu and suckling pig (maialino). all three dishes were outstanding.
the portions were fine for the pate and pasta but the maialino (suckling pig) was definitely on the smallish side for $38. however, since it was delicious, it's a small thing.
service was great, pace of the meal was slow but that fine with us and cocktails and wine were perfectly made and served.
It was a fun meal and a new great find!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMQuite the best place in theQuite the best place in the area for lunch. Good enterprising menu but appropriate portions. Good service and just so reliable. A pleasant and good humoured reception desk adds another pleasure to Maialino's.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had great lunch!I always like to introduce Maialino to my friends who visit NYC. This is very nice place to enjoy food and conversation! I would love to come back in the near future.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGood StuffExcellent restaurant. Menu is interesting with great dishes using in- season ingredients. Bar scene is great. Very good service, excellent food and wine list.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMMaialinoHad the prix fix and the seared octopus and carbonnara where great. The other two dishes were good but nothing spectacular. I would reccomend 2 prix fix lunches where you get a vegatable app like sunchokes, octopus, carbonara, and a meat dish to get a great variety and perfect meal for 2 that are sharing.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Birthday DinnerHad an amazing early birthday dinner at Maialino! The night was superb from start to finish, beginning with the friendly host, lovely bartender, awesome table (get there early, it pays!), knowledgeable, attentive waiter, and of course - the FOOD!
Every dish was delectable. The waiter recommended a reasonably priced nebbiola for the meal which he said would pair well with the maialino entree that we had our hearts set on (it certainly did). We started with the fried artichokes and aoli and the bufala mozzarella and prosciutto. Not a morsel was left on our plates. Next came the rabbit ragu garganelli. The pasta was perfect and the rabbit was very tasty. The signature dish, the maialino, is not to be missed!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food for lunch and dinner!Great food for lunch and dinner! Lively, pretty ambiance!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic food! Servers wereFantastic food! Servers were very helpful and friendly, made us feel at home.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for anniversaries. The best of the Danney Meyer spots I've been to. Great for a date or anniversary. Make sure you're willing to spend though!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been several times andWe've been several times and got the same things as we'd had before. The wine (Il Templare) was excellent. The Malfatti Maialino was not as good as we'd remembered--it seemed to have been too "brightened". Chocolate torte dessert was very nice.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing placeI had one of my best experience in a restaurant in NY.
The pasta in this place is just amazing.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe ricotta pancakes wereThe ricotta pancakes were amazing and worth a trip here!! The soft scrambled eggs with pepper and pecorino were good too but I'd go back again and again just for the ricotta pancakes.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were terrific-had a great time and a wonderful dinner.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful highlite of our NYC tripwe had a wonderful meal here for my mother's birthday while we visited NYC. we went on a sunday night to try the pasta tasting menu and it did not dissapoint. the portions were a nice size and we got to try several wonderful dishes. we chose the accompanying wine selections and it was great. all of the food was tasty and fresh. we had great service. towards the end it took a while to get our coffee since they only had french press after a certain time - so that would be our only down side.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFrank a bartender set theFrank a bartender set the tone for a wonderful evening by introducing us to wines and cocktails. Eric guided us thru the extensive wine list and found a winner - Bressan Schiopettino 06. Great to have spring offerings- favas, ramps.... Enjoyed the night....4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!!Friendly host and hostess were very accommodating as we arrived 15 minutes early. No attitude that you sometimes get. Rather than shuttle us off to the bar they found us a table and got us seated. Our server was slightly above average; she had opinions on the cheese and the wine we ended up ordering but her descriptions of the entrees and dessert could have been better. Rest of service staff were great / timely. For a busy restaurant it was nice not having to yell to have a conversation with my wife. Meal from beginning to end was very, very good and not at all expensive. We had a bottle of wine, 3 cheeses for $14, an appetizer, 2 pasta dishes and home made ice cream for dessert. Total bill with tip was $150!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was superb - ambiance,Everything was superb - ambiance, food, waitstaff. Loved the dining room, less formal - more clubby. Great wine by the glass. Food (we did the prix fixe lunch ) was the best pasta I've had in this country. Even by Danny Meyer standards it was exceptional. As you might expect with such perfection it was expensive.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMRun don't walk. It's really simple - no pretense just great food, great wine excellent service , comfortable setting. The bar area is comfortable and so pretty.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMMaialino is always great!Wonderful, delicious lunch! I love Maialino for it's simple yet perfectly prepared menu and consistently amazing dining experience. The service was great too - educated, articulate staff that understand the food and can make recommendations that are actually right on. The bar is amazing with Italian spirits and the Solerno & Prosecco spritz cocktail is so good!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMyou will not be disappointed-you will not be disappointed- try some real italian food like they make in the little towns. one of the NYC outstanding resturants.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMMaialino just gets betterMaialino just gets better and better. We enjoyed every moment.
Thank you.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMaialino was a fantastic brunchMaialino was a fantastic brunch find. The food and service was impeccable, and they were even able to cater to my mother who is very particular with her vegetarian fare. They also included free desserts for my husband and father, as it was their birthday. It was a nice touch to a special morning.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMHands down my favorite restaurant!Hands down my favorite restaurant! Love this place. We will definitely be returning again soon. The staff was friendly and attentive, the food was the best we've had in a long time. My boyfriend and I are still talking about it two days later... No doubt, we will return again. Loved it.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFried Artichoke appetizer,Fried Artichoke appetizer, enjoyed with great bread and a glass of Prosecco.
Felt like an afternoon at a good table in the Trastevere.
Love love love this place at lunch time.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is my new favorite neighborhooThis is my new favorite neighborhood place. Favorite time to come is when it's not super busy and cray-cray.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch was okay...I ll tryBrunch was okay...I ll try and come back for dinner to try out their pasta!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAll around neighborhood classicOur first brunch (we've had lunch and dinner here) and it was lovely. Good selection of breakfast and lunch options and the dishes were impeccable as usual. Our server seemed a little more distracted than others we've had (most are extremely knowledgable and attentive) but was good about coffee refills... Since it's in the neighborhood, we'll be back.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMi still love you but...I've been bringing people to Maialino since it opened because it is such great food that's hard to find anywhere else and it's a wonderful atmosphere - for dinner and breakfast. This is the first time they fell a little short though - I dream about the soft cooked eggs with pepper and pecorino so I the know the dish cold but they changed what were fluffy, firm, soft farm-fresh eggs (dark yellowy-orange) and balanced pepper and cheese flavors into a bowl of mushy, oatmeal-like salty, wet eggs. I couldn't even finish it - because it was so far from what they introduced when Danny M opened the kitchen. The pastries and coffee were still great but that's not really enough for one of Danny's restaurants.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food and serviceBeen wanting to get into this place for ages, really hard to get spots at 8-9pm so we booked the 28 days in advance! We were greeted and offered to hang our jackets. The table was ready too. The service was great - the wine was served perfectly - which we can be very fussy about- too many places overfill the glass. Great time between courses and nice sized portions on a lovely varied list. We had their special suckling pig with roasted veg, amazing. We ordered the side of chard with mildly chilli spiced, perfect accompaniment. Would def recommend and def go back. Have a cocktail in the Rose Bar in the hotel before. perfect.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful and comfortableBeautiful and comfortable place. Love the pasta.
Good service
Next time in New York, I will return.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMI love this place. I wasI love this place. I was due to meet friends in from out of town.
unfortunately, they were jetlagged and were about an hour late.
no one gave me a hard time about taking up a table during the last seating on a holiday.
the ricotta pancakes are to die for...get it with a side of soft scrambled eggs and a cortado and you have yourself the
best breakfast on a day off. we also stayed a bit longer to hang out once my friend showed up....
the only drawback was that the kitchen closed before 11am which was disappointing. very casual and rustic.
definitely want to go back!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMContinuos to be a very niceContinuos to be a very nice place to have lunch.
The food was very good and the service much better than one yera ago, during my last visit.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful service and accomadatingWonderful service and accomadating as always every time we go for brunch. We always have a stroller and they always make it work with a smile. But yet it's still a fun "adult" cool local for dining.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had the most amazing experienceWe had the most amazing experience at Maialino. All the staff was so friendly and helpful with recommendations for food and drinks. One of my favorite NYC experiences by far. Highly recommend it!!!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBest breakfastThis is my favorite spot for breakfast / brunch in the city. The service is outstanding, the food is wonderful, and it's the best place to start the day. I'd come here every morning if I could.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMi have a note in my open tablei have a note in my open table file saying i am celiac/gluten free. i eat out all the time. and I have never checked into a restaurant that read that note. instead, when i was seated at my table, they brought over gluten free bread immediately. without even asking. i have so much trouble with servers who have no clue or education and restaurants in general.
the fact that they are set up to be so thoughtful blew my mind! never happened before. it will for sure be my go to place. service was great also.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMExciting food, gentile serviceExciting food, gentile service made for a wonderful evening3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a favorite, BetweenAlways a favorite, Between the food, the wine list and the great service Maialino is a consistent winner!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was authentically "Romano"Food was authentically "Romano" and we enjoyed it immensely. The cocktails were strong just like in Rome too. I had the saltimbocca and it was just like Nona makes. My family and I will be returning here on our next jaunt to New York!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
