  • "The menu was interesting with quite a few pork selections. We advised the restaurant at the time we made the reservation that we were celebrating our 20th Wedding Annniversary and if possible, could we be seated near a window and not by the kitchen. We were seated in a booth and next to the kitchen entrance. My husband who is not a red sauce person had asked the waiter since it was not listed on the menu, if he could get a fettuicine dish with a white sauce. The waiter said he would have to ask the chef. When the waiter returned he said the chef said "no." I ordered dessert and when it was brought to me lit with a candle, the person (not our waiter) said Happy Anniversary. We must say the food was very good."

What is is clearly evident is how well trained and knowledgeable the staff are, across the board from the greeters to the waiters. Is always nice to feel that you are actually wanted and welcome in a restaurant or an an airline in today's commoditized world. Maialino is a gem. Don't change anything."

  • "I have tried to cook and prepare pig liver and failed miserably. The pate and the little ravioli stuffed with chick and pig liver in the better balsamic sauce I still taste, wonderful. Hopping atmosphere for dinner and great food. Great wine selection. I've been back many times."

  • "The bread they start you with is quite addictive. Mains were suckling pig and pasta with rabbit. As you have probably read in other reviews, the restaurant is renown for the suckling pig. If you have the option don't miss it. It is truly outstanding. The roasted potatoes served with the pig are to die for. The pasta with rabbit was excellent as well. They have a fabulous wine list and the waitress provided an excellent recommendation which went well with the meals. The service is outstanding. Moderate noise give the size of the place."

They had not shown up when our food arrived, so we cancelled and ordered different drinks, which showed up around the time we finished. My husband was still finishing his tea, so I asked for a drink menu to pick out something else while he finished. After she brought the menu, she did not come back for at least 15 minutes, after which I eventually waved her down. Yet, all the while, she inevitably turned up AFTER whatever we ordered had shown up to interrupt our meal and ask if we were enjoying our food. Very disappointing."

My usual pasta that I looked forward to sharing and previously one of the best ever was almost too salty to finish. And a couple of dishes were no longer on the menu. Even though Maialino was crowded, the staff and service were good, but I had raved to my out-of-town guests who must have questioned my taste. Be careful Danny, there’s never an excuse for mediocrity in your restaurants."

The food here is UNBELIEVABLE, freshest pasta I've ever tasted, properly cooked suckling pig, with both creative and classic Italian dishes. There's something on the menu for everyone. Took my partner here for a romantic dinner, but will also be dragging my family back for my graduation celebration! Cannot recommend Maialino enough!!"

Overall, the food was very good, but the standout was the malfatti with suckling pig, which was excellent. Succulent pork tossed with perfectly-cooked handmade pasta sheets tossed in a luxurious, buttery, savory gravy made from the pan drippings. Yum! Service was fine, not particularly friendly but efficient."

  • "This is my third time here, and I always have the same experience. Love the room, but always leave feeling I've overpaid for the food. This was particularly true for breakfast. We had a surprisingly disconnected and sloppy waitress for a Danny Meyer restaurant. And the food, while tasty, was just way overpriced. Still, it's a gorgeous room and ideal for a private meal. So, despite the disappointments, I probably will come back."

  • "First, the hostess left us standing for over 10 min in spite of a reservation and empty tables, studiously trying not to look as us and playing endlessly with the computer, eventually being forced to acknowledge us and explain the delay. As to the meal: frankly, not in the least exceptional. The flavors did not stand out, nor did the presentation. We recognize this was Restaurant Week but one of our party tried the more expensive ($35) menu which is offered regularly for lunch, and found that rather a let down as well. Perhaps, given the reviews and Danny Meyers imprint, we expected too much. On the other hand, once in, the service was excellent, though a delay for the dessert forced on of our friends to leave without it."

The main dining room strikes just the right note of casual but elegant. The food is top-notch: exquisite salads and anti-pasti, delectable pasta. A chocolate dessert was less interesting, but thwt may have been th fault of the un-adventuresome diner. I'd go back in a minute."

  • "Wonderful bread with delicious olive oil first, add the best minestrone soup I've had in a restaurant, and a fantastic olive oil cake. The housemade pasta was complex and great too. The only issue was that there are only a few tables for larger groups and our group had to wait while the previous group took their time to leave. The staff did the best they could: apologizing, and updating us every few minutes."

  • "They had 2 sets of lunch menu for restaurant week. Of course they posted the pricey menu but did not make note of the higher price. When I got to the restaurant, realized the online menu was $10 more, I order from the $25 menu since I didn't think $35 was a good price to pay for lunch. I was not impressed with the menu or the food. The service was slow. I did not like the atmosphere, the wait staff was wearing seems to me like street clothes (plaid shirt with jeans). It wouldn't have matter what they wear if the food they serves was good, but it was not. I would not go back again."

  • "There is no way in the world to say enough great things about this restaurant-I return again and again for perfect meals. The service is refined and easy-A style very hard to obtain. The food is perfection from the fresh brewed coffee drinks to the perfectly made pastas. If you haven't been there, you should go!"
