MaialinoDelicious aromas style cuisineI can't say enough good things about Maialino. The best spaghetti carbonara I've had since Rome as well as that pig. It's not a cheap meal but also not outrageously expensive, particularly for the quality. My only complaint is that it's too hard to get a table. And our server was especially nice and helpful as we tried to put together our meal.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service and food.Excellent service and food. Didn't have Chianti at the bar but a 2007 montenidoli 'il templare' was recommended and it was wonderful. Had crab appetizer which was delightful. My main course, spagetti vodola was a bit bland - I was disappointed. My husband had the fried artichoke appetizer and suckling pig special which he really enjoyed.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMaialinoA truly fabulous adventure in great food and in a casual setting.
The waiter does need to give prices on daily specials.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat quiet place for brunchIt is difficult and uncomfortable trying to get a table at Maialino for dinner. It's very easy to get on for breakfast or for brunch though.
In addition to the standard brunch fare they offer some Italian-focused dishes, which makes it worth a trip.
You'll enjoy the same rustic wonderful atmosphere. Service is very good / attentive. I'll definitely come back.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMNever DisappointsTheir unique menu and wine list coupled with an excellent wait staff always makes a visit worthwhile. Shouldn't be missed.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMOutside of RomeOne of the best restaurants if you are in New York and love Roman food. This is a place which truly serves plates Italian style and you can start with Antipasti and get all the way thru until you end with Grappa and Biscotti. Whenever we are in New York this is a must. Please take note that reservation must be made and usualy they are fully booked weeks in advace. This means something in New York.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMy second time at this restaurant. My second time at this restaurant. Wonderful dining experience! Great server, who helped us select samples/splits of various menu items with wine to match. Food is memorable. Ambience is rich and warm, like all Danny Meyer restaurants.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMbest breakfast meeting spotSince its opening, Maialino has been my go-to for meeting friends and colleagues for breakfast. And many of guests have now made it their go to restaurant too.
nice setting on Gramercy Park, Danny Meyer quality service and really nice food make this my favorite. there are very few places in NYC that provide the perfect atmosphere for a breakfast meeting.
have had lunch and dinner here too and recommend it.
all around LOVE for this restaurant.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMMaialino gave us the mostMaialino gave us the most lovely and unexpected surprise of our trip to NY. They made us feel the warmth of home in such a far away place. I highly recommend Maialino and commend the entire staff for the detailed attention they pay to their customers :)6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMNew favoriteDelicious food with outstanding service-who could ask for anything more. The Sunday pasta tasting was fantastic. Will have to return soon to try the other items on the menu.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA superb dining experience.A superb dining experience. Very good menu. Great service and beautiful space.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding as usualThis is the fourth time I have dined here and I always have a fantastic experience between the service and the food. They recently launched their new tasting menu for $75/person. I decided to take my mother and aunt here to try it. The tasting menu was personalized for each table. I told the waiter what we liked and disliked and the chef put together a wonderful menu for us. The best part was everything is served family style to share. The waiter was also very knowledgable of the wine selection and picked a great bottle of wine that went well with all the food. We had four courses and three dishes per course. This is one of the best Italian restaurants in Manhattan. I definitely recommend it.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMRidiculously good!Amazing pasta, great wine list. Don't miss this place!5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorable Memorial Day DiningExtraordinary dining experience. Carpaccio appetizer, spaghettini vongole & two different lamb entrees were flawless. Cafe Mocha was best ever.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant is very veryThis restaurant is very very good. For Sunday night dinner we had artichokes and crostini (with ricotta cheese and peas). Our main courses were cavatelli and spaghettini with clams. We shared the Tartufo. We shared a Montepulciana d'Abbruzzi. Everything perfect. But the best part of Maialino is the excellent service you get. The staff is welcoming and very knowledgeable on all the food. Any questions are answered thoroughly and enthusiastically. When explaining the evening specials the server always tells you the price for each one. These are well trained and intelligent people who enjoy what they are doing. Reservations are always hard to get buy keep trying. This restaurant is well worth it5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorial Weekend BrunchWe dined once again at Maialino for brunch and it did not fail to deliver. We are very selective with our dining choices when we come to the city and we find Maialino irresitible. I had the trout with greens and hazelnuts, a perfect lunch for me. It was cooked perfectly, light, perfectly seasoned and just the right serving size. I always love their coffee service. The barista was on top of the perfect cortado.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, particularly theGreat food, particularly the "pig" and the gluten-free pasta from corn flower was very good.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBetter than I remembered.I had been to Maialino several years ago when it first open however I felt this visit the good and service were much better. The octopus was excellent. Noise level at fromt of restaurant was a bit much. Wouldn't have enjoyed sitting close to bar for dinner.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI previously had an excellentI previously had an excellent lunch here. I thought the dinner neede more
flavor in all courses- more salt, more cheese, etc.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMVery goodGood find
Our second time
Very creative preparations
Will return again and again5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMVery pleasant experience atVery pleasant experience at a midweek lunch. Would recommend.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistent and always a pleasureWe have been to Maialino five or six time - always for lunch or weekend brunch, and we just love it. The food is delicious yet simple; the room is perfectly styled to achieve warmth in a classic European style; the atmosphere is just right as far as we're concerned - you feel like you're in a special place without any fuss or pretensions.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMHow many ways to say PERFECTION??Breakfast (great egg dishes, the porchetta/egg panini on Ciabatta, the thick peppered bacon and the best PRESS POT coffee in NYC). Lunch, Drinks and Dinner (anything on the menu - I can't write it all out) . From start to finish at any time during the day , with a super wine list with a total regard for price -value, Maialino as it ALL. Regulars know it and, if you've not been there, you must come and become one. The caring (not suffocating) service, no one will ever say 'no' to any request...you''ll be warmly welcomed, you'll be fed well and you will leave very contentedly. After all, it's a Danny Meyer restaurant....would that the rest of the industry made dining out this kind of a total unstuffy and delicious pleasure.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious and unforgettable!!We had a memorable dinner! Loved the pasta!!! Service!!!!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMsmall tablewe made a reservation for 4 but they offered only a small table that could not hold all of the bottles, glasses and plates of food. we had to stack wine and water bottles etc on the nearby floor to leave room for the food. the server did nothing to help sort this out5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat late nite mealCame after 11pm after theatre and the restaurant was still crowded. People of all ages having a great time. Great salads and pastas, nice bottle of Chianti. Our server was excellent. Place is very comfortable. We left extremely happy. Would definitely recommend for late nite dining no matter where you are coming from or how you are dressed5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMdeliciousVery delicious meal, attentive and friendly service (all the servers smile), not too noisy once you sit in the dining room (bar area is a real "in" scene), reasonable prices, nice wine list (some of which you can try before ordering a bottle), looking forward to return5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely lunch placeThis restaurant has great ambience and interesting decor. The service was great and the food very good. Wonderful breads. Nice $15 lunch special.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect....AgainI've been to this restaurant 30 times. It is consistently perfect.
The food is gorgeous and presented beautifully, rooted in few ingredients that are all "Farm to Fork" fresh - the cornerstone of truly great Italian food. The menu changes regularly - although some of my favorites remain constants.
The service is casual, attentive and perfect. The staff are always present and never on top of you. They are incredibly knowledgeable and attentive. There wine selection and cocktails are great.
The decor is perfectly executed Tuscan style with perfect lighting and a view on New York's Gramercy Park.
It's fit for foodies, for groups and it is also romantic. Love it!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMmother's day brunch here wasmother's day brunch here was perfect. great scene, great food, perfect brunch spot.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMDoesn't miss a beatRepeat visits never disappoint. To mix things up, we tried the Sunday night pasta tasting menu with wine pairings. Delicious and fun.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFood overall was good, thoughFood overall was good, though the pork had way too many potatoes and could have done with a veggie option or something on sweet side. Appetizers and bread were great. Service was definitely a bit off.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMi'm not 1 to write long reviewsi'm not 1 to write long reviews but i have 2 words for anyone going to Maialino; SUCKLING PIG! If you go, u must get it w its crisp skin and incredibly juicy perfumed tender flesh. Awesome. Everything was great especially the pastas but oh that pork really stands out! Benissimo!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMItalian ExtraordinaryEnjoy these exceptionally prepared and presented dishes in a beautiful room looking out on Gramercy Park. What else can one say? hint? Order a dish containing the specialty pork.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly recommended!I dine out quite a bit and I feel like I am always looking for a restaurant just like this. It was so comfortable...down to the ambience, menu, and the service. I felt so welcome and had a hard time choosing what I wanted to eat...always a great sign. The wine list was thorough with some of my favorite Italian selections and at a decent price. Now if they would just have another location in my home city, Nashville, I would be so happy!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat maialinoThe food we had was outstanding. we basically had pork three ways: pate di campagna, tagliatelle with pork ragu and suckling pig (maialino). all three dishes were outstanding.
the portions were fine for the pate and pasta but the maialino (suckling pig) was definitely on the smallish side for $38. however, since it was delicious, it's a small thing.
service was great, pace of the meal was slow but that fine with us and cocktails and wine were perfectly made and served.
It was a fun meal and a new great find!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMQuite the best place in theQuite the best place in the area for lunch. Good enterprising menu but appropriate portions. Good service and just so reliable. A pleasant and good humoured reception desk adds another pleasure to Maialino's.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had great lunch!I always like to introduce Maialino to my friends who visit NYC. This is very nice place to enjoy food and conversation! I would love to come back in the near future.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the waitMaialino is a place where you have to wait patiently for a reservation and then patiently to be seated for your reservation, but the food and service are worth the wait.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMMaialinoHad the prix fix and the seared octopus and carbonnara where great. The other two dishes were good but nothing spectacular. I would reccomend 2 prix fix lunches where you get a vegatable app like sunchokes, octopus, carbonara, and a meat dish to get a great variety and perfect meal for 2 that are sharing.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGood StuffExcellent restaurant. Menu is interesting with great dishes using in- season ingredients. Bar scene is great. Very good service, excellent food and wine list.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Birthday DinnerHad an amazing early birthday dinner at Maialino! The night was superb from start to finish, beginning with the friendly host, lovely bartender, awesome table (get there early, it pays!), knowledgeable, attentive waiter, and of course - the FOOD!
Every dish was delectable. The waiter recommended a reasonably priced nebbiola for the meal which he said would pair well with the maialino entree that we had our hearts set on (it certainly did). We started with the fried artichokes and aoli and the bufala mozzarella and prosciutto. Not a morsel was left on our plates. Next came the rabbit ragu garganelli. The pasta was perfect and the rabbit was very tasty. The signature dish, the maialino, is not to be missed!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good place, you can laterVery good place, you can later go to the hotel's bar4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food for lunch and dinner!Great food for lunch and dinner! Make sure you're willing to spend though!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been several times andWe've been several times and got the same things as we'd had before. The wine (Il Templare) was excellent. The Malfatti Maialino was not as good as we'd remembered--it seemed to have been too "brightened". Chocolate torte dessert was very nice.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing placeI had one of my best experience in a restaurant in NY.
The pasta in this place is just amazing.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe ricotta pancakes wereThe ricotta pancakes were amazing and worth a trip here!! The soft scrambled eggs with pepper and pecorino were good too but I'd go back again and again just for the ricotta pancakes.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were terrific-had a great time and a wonderful dinner.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
