MagnoliasBirthday LunchRestaurant was very busy when we arrived, but we were seated right away. Service was excellent with the server attentive and prompt. Food was excellent, in fact, the only dark spot on the experience was a longer wait for dessert than I thought was needed. The meal ended on a very good note in that the server brought the bill promptly and picked it up again in short order so I didn't have to wait......and wait like in so many restaurants I've been in.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFABMagnolia's is always a favorite for friends visiting. Food is excellent as always and staff is professional5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMBest sweet tea and shrimpBest sweet tea and shrimp and grits ever! Absolutely delicious!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA Very Relaxing Dinner! We enjoyed our dinner. The waitress was very friendly and the food was delicious! It was so quiet and relaxing. We are so glad we dined at Magnolia's and would definitely recommend this restaurant! We did have reservations and enjoyed that convenience.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceMy wife had the fried chicken and loved it. The chicken breast was juicy and flavorful. The sides(collards, corn, and mashed potatoes and gravy with a biscuit inside)were great and the portion sizes were generous. I had the catfish creole dish which was outstanding, the best catfish I can remember having. The Magnolia mint julep was very good and my wife enjoyed the mojito. Best dining experience that I have had in quite some time.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique and LovelyMy husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We had an early reservation and it was still quite full. People are respectful and speak quietly at their tables. Our server was so polite and attentive even though he was on a 14 hour shift. We consider this restaurant a "Do Not Miss."5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is one of our three favoriteThis is one of our three favorite restaurants anywhere. Terrific food, service and atmosphere. I would recommend it for any occasion.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant for any occasionExcellent service and outstanding food! We always plan a meal there when visiting Charleston. Highly recommend to anyone!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI'm have competed at the JrI'm have competed at the Jr USA figure championships in Charleston the past 2 years. To get on stage, I have to diet and train for over 3 hrs a day for 12 weeks to get down to 8% bodyfat. With that said, you can imagine how excited I am to get my first “real” meal after weeks of fish, asparagus and few to no carbs! The first year, my first question was “Where can I get the best meal after this show?” Everyone said Magnolia’s. Last year my meal was so amazing that this time I made reservations a month in advance for me, my fiance, my best friend (also a competitor) and her husband. Once again, the food and service were superb and were the perfect reward after all those months of prep for the show. Thanks for the great experience!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday CelebrationMy two childhood best friends and I celebrated our 40th birthdays at Magnolias and it was fabulous. The service was excellent and the food was phenomenal, the steak melted in my mouth. It was truly a one of a kind dining experience and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any special occasion.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Good - southern specialtiesWe expected it to be great, and it was. Excellent food, staff and timing. Looking forward to coming back.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMA fitting end to my Charleston tripHad a lunch here before flying back to NY on Friday. Started off with the green salad and chose Low Country bouilabaisse for the main course. The soup was a little spicy but very delicious that I spooned every drop of it. The server was both friendly and courteous. My only regret was that I was so full that I could only manage a singlr scoop of sorbet to round off the meal. Otherwise, I would have loved to try a pecan pie. May be I should start planning for the next visit to Charleston soon ..............5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMCharleston's Finest!Great dining experience! Waiter was very attentive and helpful. Pan Fried Catfish with spicy shrimp creole and dirty rice was to die for. My wife had grilled salmon and another party at our table had the Parmesan Crusted Flounder both of which were very tasty. Will definitely be back the next time we're in Charleston.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMagnolias: Great as UsualWe no longer live near Charleston, SC, so on our short weekend back in town we headed for Magnolias. The food, service and ambience were just as we remembered...great.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent ExperienceMy husband and I were in Charleston for a last minute trip, yet they still accommodated us well. There is complementary parking for the restaurant that isn't time sensitive, so you can dine and explore downtown if you wish, knowing your vehicle is safe and there is no rush to get back to it. Service was excellent, our server was friendly and quick. The food was outstamdimg. So many flavors that all blended beautifully. We were seated in the rear of the restaurant which I would recommend if you are seeking a more quiet dining experience as the front of the restaurant was quite lively. Overall, we enjoyed this restaurant and will be returning during other trips to Charleston.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMStellar service and fabulousStellar service and fabulous food. Magnolia's never disappoints!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite in CharlestonJust spent three days in Charleston with friends. It is a beautiful city with gracious people and wonderful restaurants. We ate at Magnolia's on our last night and I have to say it was my favorite. Not only was the food delicious but our waiter Billy was terrific. Charming and attentive, but not hovering. He set the tone for a wonderful, memorable meal. I will definitely recommend it to friends.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best in CharlestonGreat restaurant, great service, and a central location in historic area.
Food is unbelievable - worth the cost.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMHigh NoonVery enjoyable lunch! The food was excellent with a nice menu full of many options and the service was vert good too! We will be back again soon!!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebration dinnerRecommended by good foodie friends, this restaurant lived up to their recommendation. Looking for some "southern" food and seafood, we found both there. We loved the fried green tomatoes and the scallop appetizers. The tuna was perfectly cooked with that wonderful rose center. The restaurant was packed, but we felt we were the only ones there... our waiter was that attentive. Answered all our questions about entree content or preparation without having to "check on it." Creme brulee was big enough for all four of us! Would definitely go again.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous food.We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience here. The food was fabulous!!!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMCharlestons Magnoliathis was an excellent restaurent and the service was great Variety of Food5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat all around.Lovely dining experience. Best bouillabaisse I ever had in my life! Pecan pie was splendid. Even the house wine was buttery and full-bodied.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMothers's Day DinnerMagnolias's is a fixture in downtown Charleston
Great location with parking close by.
My wife and I enjoyed the great food and wonderful service
A bit pricey, but worth it!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful ExperienceMy wife and I enjoyed our Mother's Day at Magnolias and have enjoyed the many previous occasions there. We find that our reservations are always ready when we arrive, the receptionist and waiters are most professional and the food is great. We also especially appreciate the effort on the staff's part to accommodate our request for a special table by the window, or outside, etc.
We have recommended Magnolias to our friends for years and will continue to do so.
Thanks for a great dining experience.
E. DuBose Blakeney III5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful!Great food, service and experience. Well worth every penny.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond VisitIt's been over 8 years since my wife and I had dined at Magnolia's...the first one was memorable. So, since moving to Myrtle Beach I took her to Charleston for Mother's Day. We had a 4:45pm dinner reservation but found ourselves hungry about 2:30pm. We dropped into the restaurant and they could seat us immediately...they were serving brunch. Our meals were superb. Tomato bisque soup, fried green tomatoes, country chicken and flounder were chosen and were a gustatory delight. The manager came to our table personally on two occasions to check on our satisfaction and gave us a great deal of attention. Can't wait to go back for a third visit. Jim Mackay - Myrtle Beach5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mother's Day BrunchOne of the best Mother's Day Brunch menus around Charleston. Everything looked so good it was hard to decide. Great variety and meals were rated excellent by all. Portions were perfect and presentation was very appealing. Service was great even on a very busy day when they were booked all day long. Did their best to meet special request.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMCharleston Classic RestaurantConsistant good food. The mussels were excellent. Somewhat reasonable wine list. We'll return again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's DayWe all enjoyed the food and service so much! It's really nice that they offer complimentary parking. Overall great experience!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMmothersday weekendGreat start to mothersday weekend. First time dining at Magnolias, and will return.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMMagnolia's was busy when weMagnolia's was busy when we were there due to college graduation in Charleston. Nevertheless, we were treated well, server was great if a bit rushed, and the food was very good. All in all a good experience.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe want more!We have eaten at Magnolias many times, and like their food. We wish that they would change up their menu some, because we'd like more variety. If you have a chef that is so good at what he does, I'd like to experience more of his talents!!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious! Both the food and service were outstanding. I had the radish salad, which was crisp and flavoful with just the right amount of dressing, and the chili rubbed Ahi tuna was wonderful. I intended to eat hapf of the bananas and cream i ordered for desert, but finished every bite, and my colleagues raved about the pecan pie!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThe county ham added a surpriseThe county ham added a surprise flavor and texture to the fried green tomatoes. I believe this is the best I have had.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA true Charlestonian ExperienceWe had a company meeting in Charleston and decided to eat down town. A co-worker recommended Magnolia's because of their delicious "collard green" egg rolls. We planned to go so I looked them up on line. Glad I did, because I realized you needed a reservation. Be sure to do that. Tuesday night and you could not get in without one. Don't go if you are in a hurry. It is an evening of dining - not simply eating. Relax, enjoy their brand of wine. Very good. The egg rolls were something I can't even describe. Wonderful. Sweet, hot spices. YUMMY!. I had the shrimp and sausage over grits. We ended with their pecan pie.
It's comfortable enough to go in jeans and laugh out loud with no worries. Prices are high but I will be back.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMLow Country, High CreativityMagnolias met and exceeded the high expectations we had for it. Our mid-Atlantic grounding tends to make us leery of the often fried, salty, sweet and creamy character of Low Country cuisine. However, the interesting diversity of flavors we experienced worked just fine for us.
We waited some extra time to be seated in the front and were rewarded with comfortable noise levels. Probably the most enjoyable item we had was the Down-South egg roll appetizer--very creative, and delicious. The fried green tomatoes were also excellent. The fresh, perfectly prepared shellfish over (yes, very rich, buttery grits) was a real treat.
The only "disappointment" for us was that we simply were too full to try some of their signature pecan pie!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding cuisine and friendlyOutstanding cuisine and friendly helpful staff. My husband gave rave reviews for the bouilabasse and wanted to return for lunch the next day so he could order it again!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and great service! We dined for bruch and everything was delicious. Ashley, our server, was very attentive and made great suggestions as well. We will be back!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Brunch Ever!Crab Benedict was incredible! Outstanding place for brunch -- service was top notch & everything on the menu looked amazing!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Brunch in CharlestonWe recently had Sunday Brunch at Magnolia's (with reservation of course). The eclectic menu was so awe inspiring we struggled to make a choice. We finally settled on the Open-Faced Cuban Omelette for me and a Spicy Shrimp and Sausage dish with grits and eggs for my wife. Both dishes were extraordinary. The mixture of flavors concocted by Chef Franz were other worldly. In addition to the cuisine there was a large list of wine, liquor and specialty drinks that fit well with the meal. I would be remiss if I did not mention Walker, our server. His dedication to his profession was equal to our meal in its care to detail. Finally, I would like to say that the complimentary parking next door to the restaurant was a nice ending to a great Brunch.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Sunday BrunchMy husband and I enjoyed a delicious Sunday brunch at Magnolias. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgable about the menu options. My crab cake benedict was everything I could have hoped for. My only complaint is that the tables were crammed in so tightly that there was zero privacy. We were enjoying a nice, quiet meal at a corner table when a group of 4 women were seated almost on top of us. They were obese and very loud, and we could unfortunately hear every detail of their unappetizing conversation. There were very few two-top tables available, and those were also crowded in next to others. This really killed the ambiance for our lazy Sunday morning, and we won't be back unless part of a large party.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMCharleston stapleLove coming here everytime I visit Charleston. Food and service are impeccable. Had the Seafood Shrimp & Grits with lobster, shrimp, and scallops - delicious! Also tried the fried macaroni & cheese. Everything always tastes delicious and fresh, service is friendly and efficient.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dining experience!!!We had lunch on May 4, 2013 and the food and service were both great. You will need reservations for lunch and dinner. Local favorite and after you dine there once you will know why.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMReservationReservation was for 7:45p. We, three of us, were early, and were seated 10 minutes early.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI took my wife to Magnolia’sI took my wife to Magnolia’s for our 30th wedding anniversary.
We were not disappointed. The Food, Service, and atmosphere were fantastic.
It was a great dining experience.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AM
