  • Public Transit: Charleston CARTA to and from Visitors Center can be picked up 1/2 block from the restaurant on the quarter hour. There are also local cab companies and Charleston's famous Rickshaws that will transport guests to their hotels.

  • Parking Details: Private parking lot adjacent to the restaurant is available weekdays after 5:00pm & all day Saturday & Sunday. **Please note:This lot is not open during lunch Monday-Friday. However, public parking is available in the garage at the corner of Cumberland & Concord and rates will apply.

  • "We visit Magnolias each time we travel to Charleston (4-5x per year), and it is one of our favorites. The food is always fresh and well-prepared. Often there is something new on the menu, and the variety is great. The service has been terrific, with knowledgeable and friendly wait staff. My wife is a vegetarian, and she has been able to find great items on their menu, which confirms the variety they offer. All-in-all, one of our favorite restaurants in the U.S."

  • "We tried three different "small plates" and the bisque...all were incredible. The spices and seasonings used create an explosion of flavor - shrimp and sausage with grits never tasted better. The seasoned Ahi Tuna was savory. But the highlight was the Low Country Boulliabaise. Highly recommended and I even bought a recipe book to simply try and make it one day at home. Great atmosphere, terrific service. Whether looking for a romantic dinner for two or a family-size group, you can't go wrong here if you like authentic Low Country style food."

  • "I'm from the North, so when I get the chance to have some good southern cooking, well YUM!!! Had the southern fried chicken & collard greens - moist, crispy chicken and smoky greens with mashed. Also went a 2nd time a few days later and had the shrimp, lobster and grits - creamy, rich and flavorful. Loved the atmosphere, never felt rushed and enjoyed my time there."

  • "I was excited to return to Magnolias, as I dined here years ago and enjoyed the food and ambience. Either we chose a bad night, or things are not the same. Service wasn't exactly warm and fuzzy. Our waiter was on the surly side and only warmed up toward the end of the night - as he was bringing our check. The drinks were mediocre. We make better cocktails at home! The food was good, but not great. And to cap off this bland evening, we were serenaded by a crying baby - no make that a wailing baby, whose parents didn't seem to care that they were disrupting EVERYONE'S evening. Parents should know better, and so should the restaurant. Small children should not be allowed in fine dining establishments. Mgr did comp our drinks, a nice gesture."

  • "We have visited Magnolias three times over the past month. First being lunch and Second visit being brunch which were both excellent in all respects. This third visit was a bit disappointing. Noise level was extremely loud. My wife likes the salmon with mussels and was disappointed. My meal was excellent."

  • "We went to Magnolia's to celebrate my birthday. We were seated promptly at our reservation time at very nice table in the back of the restaurant. The tables are a little close and the restaurant is a little noisy, but that was okay. The Parmesan crusted flounder and the trout on the menu were both excellent, and we also enjoyed the fried green tomatoes and the crab bisque. Our waiter gave us good wine recommendations and provided good service. The highlight was when Louis came from the kitchen to sing a lovely happy birthday! And oh, yes, be sure try the strawberry shortcake ice cream! There are lots of excellent restaurants in Charleston, and we will definitely go back to Magnolia's the next time we visit!"

  • "We just come from an uppity bar where we had a cocktail. This place was more comfortable. My main entrée was okay and the waiter could tell that I wasn't exactly thrilled with it. He immediately offered to switch out my dish for something else. The new salmon dish came in four minutes and was delicious. The waiter was outstanding I would highly recommend this restaurant"

  • "We come to Charleston once a year on our anniversary. Have tried other restaurants in the city, keep coming back to Magnolias. Food is outstanding, service is spot on, even when restaurant is full. Never wait for our food to arrive from course to course. Waitress was pleasant, polite and right on time with her visits to our table. Try the collard greens. The filet with pimento cheese was awesome. We were too full for dessert. Great food at a price you can afford."

  • "A friend recommended this restaurant in downtown Charleston since she had eaten there several years ago. We liked the ambiance and were seated quickly since we had a reservation. The service was very slow. We were there for almost 2 hours for lunch and dessert. We both had the Fried Chicken Breast plate. The chicken was great, but the gravy over the biscuits and potatoes was too heavy for me. We thought it was overpriced for the plate. This was the first place we ate in Charleston and found friendlier service elsewhere. It was great that there is a parking lot right next to the restaurant. The bread they serve first is also delicious."

  • "We visited Magnolia's 8 years ago and were impressed! This week, we returned to Charleston and decided to make it our feature dining experience during our week long stay. The food was good but not impressive. The duck entree' was way undercooked.It was ordered medium well and was served rare. In contrast, the seafood grits entree was very good. Overall, about average. The place was not extremely busy for its reputation but our service left a little to be desired. Drinks emptied before being refilled and we were disappointed that our food took entirely too long to be served. Ordinarily, I would not be as picky with my review. But, at Magnolia's, you pay a premium for the experience. I expected better."

  • "Magnolias was a great choice for Sunday brunch. The menu was a knockout. It felt as thought I could order anything on the menu and not be disappointed. From sweet to savory, each of us had something entirely different, and each of us was thoroughly satisfied. Outstanding low country cuisine, with friendly service - though desultory, as is typical of Charleston. Great Bloody Mary eye opener, and a very impressive wine list to boot. Definitely worth a return visit on our next trip."

Know the restaurant can't control their patrons. Maybe suggest they do something to bring the noise level down. I return to Charleston yearly and will never go back to Magnolias. Sorry"

  • "If your dining in Charleston one of the idiosyncrasies you will find is that there are a lot of restaurants with great food and great waiters/waitresses which really completes the total experience if you get both. We felt that the waiter was okay and the food was really good. Definitely a place to visit for the food and we know that we saw and heard better service than our table"

  • "We had dinner recently at Magnolias while on vacation in Charleston, and were disappointed in the experience. The atmosphere was nice, but the waitress was condescending and inattentive. I ordered the snapper, which came with spinach and potatoes. The fish was delicious and mild, but the vegetables were so spicy I couldn't eat them. Had they just been seasoned with some lemon and garlic, they would've been perfect. My husband got the parmesan encrusted flounder and it had no flavor. We ordered two desserts, but did not eat the strawberry shortcake, as it was dry and only had strawberry flavoring."
