  • "Wow. Didn't expect this. A bit north in the Gaslamp and worth every step. Walk in, boom, brined french fries and an Imperial Stout. Killer. Then another Boom - a Sarejac cocktail that looked pinky-red and wimpy but sipped smooth and tasted like spring was just around the corner. The smoked brandied salmon appetizer rocked - everything did - and the dishes are so creative you will want to go back again and again to try more stuff. What a great experience - and the prices are more than reasonable. The open air front let the breeze blow in - felt like outdoor dining and the people watching was great. Excellent. Go and you won't be disappointed."

My husband and I visited because I had a Travelzoo voucher, but we will definitely be heading back there, both of us loved the food, and the prices were reasonable."

  • "Apparently, Wyatt Erp used to come to this location (no plates flew off the wall). Ambience is comfortable. Nice specialty drink (even if they are on the small side). On a slow Tuesday night the easily accommodated at group of 7. Service was very friendly and helpful. Food was good. Not good enough for a foodie but competent. Worth the trip in the desert called Gas Lamp."

  • "What more could a girl ask than a spicy twist on horchata to complement fall-off-the bone rib! Started by sharing coconut shrimp over a traditional Sazerac and the Winchester. Desserts looked amazing but I was too full! (Oh, and I went back the next week with friends from out of town...equally impressed!)"

  • "Good: The mac and cheese appetizer was delicious, the server was friendly and it was nicely decorated. Bad: The drinks were just mediocre, the fish in my sandwich was overcooked and the bread was stale. My boyfriend's burger was also overcooked and he said it was bland. We both had fries which were also just ok - not crisp on the outside like I'd prefer. The menu *sounded* great but just didn't live up to it's promises. It was also REALLY loud, even for the Gaslamp."

  • "When my date and I first got there, there was no staff waiter to be found. We looked for one, but then the bartender told us to sit anywhere. Bartender completely ignored the fact that we had reservations and told us we would only have an hr and a half to eat to make room for some larger parties that evening. Then they would have to move us to the bar....RUDE! Food and decor was very good. The service was just good, because they were short staffed. The waitress forgot our drink orders a few times also. They did a great job transforming the old Bareback bar and grill. The location is great."

For the atmosphere, its a very warm feeling,casual, relax, fun, everyone is very welcoming, and also a good judging point, the bathrooms are clean, and very nice.   • "Half of us thought what we ordered was good, half were disappointed. Bacon mac was good. Deviled eggs were tiny & overcooked. Beer brined fries sounded good but no one tasted beer, nor any crispness & tasted over cooked. Short ribs were good, chicken wrap sandwich was disappointing. Rockfish sandwich was very bland, and ribs were dry with no real sauce.They were good once added sauce at home. Chef came by & we addressed the fries issue & asked for sauce for the ribs. He never brought the sauce nor offered to correct the fries (probably because it was the best they could do) peanut butter pie they gave me for my bday was yummy & rich. Server mixed up our cocktails & forgot to take my dads & daughters order. I see why they are empty on a Fri."

  • "The food here was great. The steak was one of the best I had in a long time. The service was also very friendly and considerate. The only issue we had was that my girlfriends scalped potatoes were underdone. The server apologized profusely, brought out an alternate potato dish and discounted our bill for the inconvenience. I would definitely recommend this to a friend and go back if I am in the area."

  • "The Pan-Seared Rib-eye: perfectly cooked, excellently seasoned, really puts even the local steakhouses to shame. This was awesome! The Ginger & Bourbon Cured Salmon: The salmon was excellent quality, delicate and flavourful, but we couldn't detect any ginger or bourbon flavours. Bacon Mac & Cheese: Fantastic crust on the top, well-seasoned, creamy and comforting. The Chilli & Cornbread: Perfectly balanced; not too spicy, lots of beans and hearty chunks of meat, savoury and complex. I'll definitely come back for this again and again! Drinks: The Outlaw cocktail was a stand-out success. It was bright and citrus-y, not sweet or cloying."

  • "I really liked the space. The food was ok but nothing special. They were out of a few of the beers on their tap list so I had to choose something else. My biggest complaint would be the noise level. The noise level was ok until the band showed up. There are no acoustic tiles on the ceiling which is fine for normal conversation/noise but not for a band. It was so loud I couldn't even hear the person sitting next to me when they spoke. A few acoustic tiles on the ceiling would go a long way."

  • "A group of us tried Magnolias for the first time this past Satutday night. The decor is great, very cute and trendy atmosphere. We were curious why it was half empty at 7 on a Saturday night. We ordered the ultimate burger which was very mediocre, under seasoned and not very tasty, the fries were cold and also under seasoned. Someone ordered their Mac and cheese which was very run of the mill, nothing special. Specialty cocktails were overpriced and nothing to write home about, beer pours were small and over priced as well. Unfortunately we will not be going back."
