The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was divine. I plan on dining there often, so that I can try more of their entrees. I highly recommend the "Wonderful Halibut". Gently breaded and cooked to perfection, it was delightful. I even ate my vegetables, and I don't usually care for zucchini and yellow squash.

This USED to be my go to place for our company Christmas party. This year was disappointing. Food wasn't like it has been. Service is better at Jim's family, or IHOP. Won't drive 25 miles to endure this kind of service again. Too bad, used to be amazing???

I went to lunch with my family on a Saturday afternoon to celebrate my birthday. This was my first dining experience at Magleby's. We were seated right by the front window and the ambience was great. I went online to sign up for the birthday club. I also noticed that there were daily specials and Saturday happened to be raspberry lemonade, which was excellent. The disappointment came when the food was brought out. One dish was covered with marinara sauce on the outside of the dish and was not wiped. The poached salmon was undercooked in the middle, and the dill sauce was too heavy. Also when we received our bill we were told that the daily special and the birthday credit could not be used together. For the price, the food was mediocre.

Restaurant had open feeling with stained glass and high ceilings. Loved the restored old building. The salmon was outstanding if not one of the best I've had. The previous week I had salmon paying double the price at a high end and well known restaurant known for it's seafood in South Jordan and Magleby's was substantially better.

ur dining experience was acceptable. This is not a place I would drive out of the way for. The food was acceptable, but one entry was served semi-warm while the other was hot. The food was acceptable but certainly not what one would expect from the high end prices. I would rate this as an average restaurant masquerading as something better.

This was the last time I will eat at this place. We were getting ready to leave after eating when the waiter came up to us and told us we needed to leave to make room for others. I just spent $140.00 on food and they could see we were leaving. I was very angry. We were told they had people waiting for a seat. When we left I noticed there was nobody waiting. I did notice that nothing was said to the people behind us who arrived at the same time. Oh wait they new the chief that's why. I have never been asked to leave a restaurant ever. I have told a few of my friends about it and they said they won't be going there any more either. I was so humiliated.

The food was AMAZING! All cooked in house, everything homemade. You can really taste the difference between here and chain "fine dining" restaurants. The service was great and everyone was friendly, from the owner to the bussers. The buffet was worth well over the charged price, with the most incredible dessert bar in the state, hands down. Do not pass up an opportunity to go; you won regret it!

We went for the once a month Friday night seafood/prime rib buffet. It was really good! My husband recently had heart surgery and his diet is quite limited, and I am not a fan of seafood. But we both were pleased to find something we both enjoyed, enough of the melt-in-your mouth beef for me and the terrific fish for him. The sides were yummy and the dessert bar was divine.

We will be repeat customers. This is an excellent place to take guests or someone you want to impress or show appreciation to. It has been our "let's relax" after a hard day's work....also a great place to take that special person you want to impress. We enjoy sitting near the falling water feature but also like to sit by the windows and watch the traffic and people passing by. If we feel the need for quiet, there is always a good corner to hide in. We go early to avoid the crowds, but the tables are not placed very close to each other so you feel privacy. Waiters are gracious and helpful. Food is excellent. Highly, highly recommend.

With the exception of my salmon being quite overdone, and our chocolate cake quite dry, we enjoyed our experience on Friday night. We will definitely return because we have been dining at Magelby's since the first one opened in Provo many years ago. We have had far more wonderful experiences than bad ones. We love the food, atmosphere and service at Magelby's.

They put together a wonderful buffet. The prime rib, NY, and chicken were wonderful, as were the salads and breadsticks. My spouse loved the salmon, which I did not try. The desserts and drinks were both outstanding. The buffet was smaller than what we get in LV, and about par--but the quality excelled. Our server was attentive and friendly without being obtrusive.

  • Billed as a GREAT STEAKHOUSE...but

    Dined on 5/17/2013
This restaurant has the makings of an excellent place to dine...however, I have never experienced a truly great steakhouse that doesn't have an equally great wine list to be paired with it. The owner appears to have little idea of what makes a true dining experience. The waitstaff and chef, on the other hand, were very good and again show what could be a great dining experience. But the owner's personal opinion seems to get in the way of allowing that to happen. ONE bottle of wine to choose from...and it is mediocre at best! Ridiculous! No wonder his other store closed.

I have been meaning to visit Magbleby's for some time now and was very pleased with my first visit. Food: A; Service: A; Ambiance: A I had the Chef's Special which was a New York Steak with Gorgonzola butter. It was cooked perfectly and the meat was flavorful and tender. It was well seasoned, I like a good crust on my steak and this one was fantastic. The sides (mashed potatoes and veggies) were a good pairing and were well prepared. I also opted for the soup instead of the salad which was a mushroom bacon. It was nothing like typical mushroom soups and almost more like a chowder but was very delicious.

  • Ruined my Grandma's Birthday
    RikaEataVIP
    Dined on 4/26/2013
My grandma turned 98 this year. We specifically requested a table close to the buffet, as they were running the buffet that night. In the notes on my reservation, I wrote "Grandma's 98th birthday! Close to buffet would be preferred" When we arrived, we found that the buffet was down the stairs from the table they'd chosen to seat us at.... and they didn't even seat us there until 45 mins after our reservation time. The host just said, "Sorry, we have a big event, so it's going to be a few extra minutes", and then the manager was pretty curt when he informed my parents that the event had been scheduled before our reservation and that he couldn't help what his hosts had promised over the phone when I called them to confirm. Irritating!

Great atmosphere and nice quiet environment. Food was good - although the Filet Oskar was rather tiny for $30 - it claimed 10oz but couldn't have been more than 8 and wasn't the greatest cut of Filet I've had. Rather tough. Everything else was great. Nice attentive service.
