I think for a birthday you should be given a little dessert. And there were a number of flies which I guess couldn't be helped, because it is opened to the outside. But the food is good and the atmosphere is very pleasant.

We checked Magic Lamp out the other night when we meet my sons girlfriends father . Even though he was not a vegetarian I am as well as my husband. We needed something to accommodate all of us.The noise level was extremely high due to the fact that they had a guitar player that had his amp turned up extremely high , it was fun to listen to him but it wasn't a concert that we had signed up for! The food came out in an odd order we had ordered soup which came out after our meal was served (the server forgot) we shared a falafel plate which came out looking as if someone else had taken a bite or two . Two falafel balls for $ 13.00 seems awfully high, the hummus and babaganush was plopped onto the plate not very appetizing in looks or taste!😒

We have tried lots of Mediterrean food and think this is the best. The staff is friendly and efficient. It is small, but comfortable. There is also the choice to eat outdoors. Being located in the busy Belmont Shore area there is lots of people watching to do while you wait. Reasonable prices.

After visiting ML for the first time, a week earlier, and being pleasantly surprised, I was disappointed with this visit. First, we had to wait 1/2 hour past our reserved time. Table was acceptable, even though adjacent to the ingress/egress of the restaurant to the patio seating. I think the restaurant was conserving food, trying to make their inventory go further because the qty was different from our first visit, even though I ordered the same entree. Maybe the key is to dine during the week; Saturday night, expectedly crowded. Finally, our server seemed to lack time management skills. Every time he said he'd be back in a minute, it took nearly five minutes or more; about three times he did this.

My favorite comfort food is the dishes from what we generally call the Mediteranian area so this was my kind of place. 3 of us met up for an early dinner and within 30 minutes the tables were really filling up, a sure sign of a good find. We found the meze appetizers to be very authentic and a blend from several countries within this region. Entrees were also tasty but several wines were not in stock and all of the specials printed on the menu were no longer available. I would suggest they print new menus reflecting the new choices! Still, the wine we got was very nice and half of on Monday and who doesn't love a half of sale? Lamb was tender, shrimp fresh and chicken kabobs had great flavor.

The food and the service make this place a phenomenal restaurant! If you want Mediterranean food this place has it. They make their own pita onsite and the hummus and baba ganoush were an excellent pairing. The kabobs were cooked so well. We had a filet, chicken and lamb kabob that were out of this world. What topped everything off was the service. We initially were sat at a small table for two. Once our food came out it became clear we needed more space. The waitress immediately found us a larger table and sat us down without us having to ask. The staff there is very friendly and organized. I love it!

I wish I could write about the food at Magic Lamp but the fact is, I never got a chance to try it. I made a reservation through Open Table three days before our planned dinner. We were a party of eight and it was a dual celebration. We got to the restaurant 10 or 15 minutes before our reservation time. When our reservation time rolled around, one of the girls came up to us and said that it was going to be "a really long time" before we would get seated. Because they had accepted a reservation that day for a party of 18 to be seated before us. Most of that party wasn't even at the restaurant yet - just a few folks. So our birthday party of eight gets bumped in favor of some bigger party. We left.

Nice enough environment. Nice people, the service was good. The food was good quality, not outstanding, the flavors didn't knock my socks off. So only one real complaint - the out door dining area was too crammed. My wife and I constantly had other diner's butts hanging over our table as they squeezed by. I mean it was closer than I have ever experienced. Inside may have been better, but we have not been inside - nor will we go out of our way to return, so we may never know! There was a live guitarist who was really good, but loud enough that we had a hard time speaking. His talent made up for it - we gave up trying to speak. I would moderately recommend Magic Lamp as better than average, incase the other nearby places were too crowded.

We were seated in 10 min after we reached there and we had a reservation... but thats ok, I didn't mind waiting. The best Spicy Humus served with warm Lafa (or pita bread)... Love it! Yummy Chicken Tawook (kabobs) and Lamb Kabobs. Get it with a side of Rice. Service was great too... nothing to complain :). It is right next to the 2nd street, so getting an outside table is always a better option.

We were a party of 6. We got the nicest table in the place, still, I felt the staff looked lost. The waiter's sense of humor was probably an acquired taste. The restaurant looked very nice. BUT the food was not what I would expected. iPad a plate of chicken shalwarma that was so over cooked, it had no taste. It was the opinion of the group that we would not come back.
