Maggie's FarmNeighborhood gemBrussels sprouts are popular on restaurant menus now. Theirs were the best we've had.
Unusual wine list. We took the remains of our New Zealand Gruner Veltliner to an Austrian neighbor who comes from the part of Austria where the wine was originally produced. He was skeptical, but now wants to get a bottle to take back to Austria on his next visit.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent dining experience.Excellent dining experience. Would highly recommend for any occasion, formal or casual.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous BrunchI've been to Maggie's Farm (previously Chameleon Cafe) for dinner several time over the years and have always had a fantastic experience. The same applied for my first brunch with them. Everything was yummy and the service was friendly and knowledgeable. Highlights were the fresh donuts and Brussels sprouts for starters!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it!Had a great meal. Duck liver on toast is awesome and the fried chicken special was definitely special! Staff is so friendly. It's a great casual dining experience.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways enjoy. Food, service.Definitely recommend - service is knowledgeable and friendly. A plethora of taste sensations. YUM!!!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful RestaurantThe cookies are the bomb. This was my first experience with MF. I have already planned my next visit to try the burger.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMKiller RockfishThe Rockfish was killer !....an island of flavorful fish swimming in an oyster stew bay with fresh greens, it literally melted in my mouth....4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great meal!Have been wanting to dine here for a while - finally we went last evening and it was wonderful. The veal meatballs were light and surrounded by a broth that had been simmered with a rind of parmesan - yum. I had the proscuitto bolgonaise while my husband had the hanger steak that was subed out with sirloin - great presentation - great night, can't wait to go back.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe noise level was perfect..The noise level was perfect.. not too quiet so that everyone in the room could overhear our conversation and yet not loud so that we had trouble hearing each other.
Very small dinner menu but everything that we tried was excellent. We even had 2 non-brussel sprout eaters gobble them down.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI was nervous about tryingI was nervous about trying Maggie's Farm, as I was a huge fan of Chameleon Cafe, but I was not disappointed. The food was fresh and delicious, and the service was lovely. The crispy brussels sprouts were abundant and salty (which I like); you will definitely take some home if you want room for dinner. The hanger steak was perfectly cooked with crunchy asparagus, and the Chesapeake rockfish was served in a rich oyster stew (though you only get 2 oysters, so if you want an oyster fix, get the appetizer). There was a nice beer list, and the wine list is small, but the choices are nice. All of the wine seemed appropriately priced, and the server was eager to give recommendations. We will definitely be back!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic DinnerHad a fantastic dinner and will definitely be going back. We had a charcuterie plate that was amazing along with the crispy brussel sprouts that were probably the best brussel sprouts I have ever had. I had the steak, which turned out to be a sirloin that night and it was cooked perfectly. My wife had the arctic char, which she loved. Finished off with the pecan pie that came with amazing house made salted caramel ice cream. Many thanks to the staff that was absolutely great.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinner!LOVED Maggie's Farm! Happy to share this place with friends...We wish them all the continued success in the coming years!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways impressed! The difference between someone like me and a professional is consistency and Maggie's Farm bowls a strike again! Kudos! I was slightly late for my reservation and they were still very gracious. Our Server Gordy was upbeat and very personable.
I ordered the chicken and rosemary waffles and the other member of my party ordered the biscuits and gravy...The chicken and waffles were perfect as is, with no need for extra dressing. Although I did not try the biscuits and gravy, there were no complaints from that side of the table either.
I also ordered a side of eggs...breakfast isn't breakfast without them...and again, perfect!
Maggie's Farm will be on rotation for both brunch and dinner for a long time to come.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMLocal FavoriteBy far one of the best local restaurant finds to date! The staff is always friendly and the food is spot on. Two words - Brussels Sprouts! Perfect date-dinner atmosphere, I proposed to my fiancee at Maggie's! We dine here a least twice a month, if not more.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, locally sourced.Great food, locally sourced. The menu is limited but what is there is is excellent. Valli Fisher4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe couldn't have had betterWe couldn't have had better service. The food was good but the service was great!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good and unlike any place elseSecond time there. Enjoyable place, not at all near where I live (in Catonsville). Ingredients are very fresh, meals are great combinations of flavors and textures, imaginative and well-presented. The menu wasn't very extensive, but I think that's by design and allows them to concentrate on a few things at a time and do them very well.
I will definitely be going again. Not inexpensive, but well worth it for their great food from the freshest ingredients. Decent beer and wine choices too.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe brussel sprouts are amazing! The brussel sprouts are amazing! I had purchased a Living Social for $40 towards food and drink at Maggie's Farm and I thought brunch would be the best way to try it out. Everything was simply delicious. I can't talk enough about how good the food was and I can't wait to come back for dinner.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMi have been to maggie's farmi have been to maggie's farm several times and the food and service has always been very good. the menu was changed which was a treat for the regulars. i had the chicken and waffles. the chicken was cooked perfectly and the waffles had a nice crunch. my sister had the fried oysters and reported that they were the best she's ever eaten. for dessert we had the salted caramel ice cream and espresso. a wonderful combination. the service, as always, was very good. the staff is knowledgeable and attentive. do yourself a favor and try maggie's farm - you are sure to have a wonderful dining experience.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff at Maggie's FarmThe staff at Maggie's Farm were very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Delightful meal!!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMSome excellent menu choices,Some excellent menu choices, all with an eye towards creating interesting combinations of flavors that mesh unexpectedly. Of note was the short ribs appetizer--one of the best dishes I've had in a restaurant in a while. Good service and an all-round highly satisfying meal. Everything was good.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe loved Maggie's. Food andWe loved Maggie's. Food and service was excellent.
We will be back soon.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I heard greatMy husband and I heard great things about the changes that had taken place when Chameleon became Maggie's Farm, so we checked it out. We were greeted and seated immediately by very friendly staff. Soon after being seated and served drinks we were moved to a different table because they had put us a table for 4. The staff was very apologetic, and even brought us an order of the smoked trout pate on the house. We shared an order of Brussels Sprouts, which was delicious, and would have been enough for at least 2 more people. I had the rockfish, and my husband had the burger. Both were great. Portions were big so we didn't make it to dessert. I would like to go back to try the cheese and dessert.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food with a friendlyGreat food with a friendly and knowledge wait staff. Limited menu so I recommend you review on the web before going.
A gem we will visit with each season to sample the changing menu.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA great addition to Lauraville!A great addition to Lauraville! Cod was awesome. Staff is always personable and friendly. When you go, expect to enjoy a reasonably lengthy stay, as the food takes a little while. We view that as a good thing.3/1/2013 12:00:00 AMRan out of space, but here goes....Maggie's Farm continues some of the greatness that The Chameleon laid the ground work for and then some. With attention to the combination of foods, MF makes even a simple arugula salad sublime in flavor. As an entree I had the Korean braised short ribs with Miso dumplings, brussel sprouts, and carrot and ginger puree... incredible! Although I found the choice of glass entertaining, I had a potent Cosmopolitan that was quite good. The staff, which I might say was very pleasing to the eye, was knowledgeable and attentive, but not to the point of annoyance. The change in background music is probably an attempt to further the name's symbolism... I liked it. The decor is a bit strange: string lights and unusual artwork adorns the walls.2/24/2013 12:00:00 AMValentine's Day Dinner DelihtWe went for V-Day, and while I was not so thrilled at first with a pre-fixed menu, it turned out to be amazing. For a first course I had escargot that very nicely served with cornmeal. It wasn't the super garlicky, buttery version. It was light and tasty. Then, I had cured cow hearts. It sounded a little crazy but it was so, so good. Very thin, and it was salty like a prosciutto. It had somewhat of a coleslaw over it that I could have slathered on everything for the next week. My husband had lobster dumplings that were equally good. For my entree I had rockfish which was cooked perfectly, was light, and packed great punches of flavor. This place is a gem. Food was super, and staff was helpful and easygoing. Loved it.2/14/2013 12:00:00 AMan enjoyable evening....Our waiter made all the difference. His understanding of all the dishes and cocktails was invaluable. recommendations on point. Food is fantastic (brussels sprouts - which I guess are the "in" vegetable these days - were outstanding...best in the Baltimore area so far) and the drinks were very good. Wine list is not high end, but reasonable. All-in-all, even us "un-hipsters" were welcomed and we enjoyed our meal.1/25/2013 12:00:00 AM
