Unfortunately, because not enough people had signed up, it was cancelled. We received the call informing us of this change the day of his Birthday, but along with the apology they offered us $100 in gift certificates to keep our reservation that night. Although my husband was disappointed because he was looking forward to the event, we kept the reservation and were extremely pleased we did. We had the gluten free pasta and sauce with meat and it tasted great and gave none of us a tummy ache--which is our sign we ate what we should not have.
The food was gluten and dairy free along with low glycemic for diabetic. I ordered flowers as part of the dinner and they were delivered just moments after we were seated. Michael our server was courteous, friendly and knowledgable of the menu. Since it was a nice day we sat on the patio which was lovely. There is no view or anything since it's tucked away under the pavillions but it's still nice to people watch as they shop from that vantage point. The food was great, as always, and the service is terrific. It's a good spot to take the kids (my son is 3 years old). They give him crayons and a coloring sheet and they have the plastic cups with lids so he doesn't spill. Most importantly, as all parents know, the service is quick. You need to be in an out when you have little ones and Maggianos does it perfectly without making you feel rushed. Not that this restaurant is a special occasion place, but it's the nicest we have found to accommodate a celiac diet with no cross contamination. My 8 year old granddaughter was thrilled with a green salad, bowl of corn gluten free noodles and creme brulee. She wasn't completely full and really wanted another bowl of noodles with parmesan (but due to time we had to talk her out of ordering more). . During our last visit, a chef personally came out to talk to us regarding the gluten free meal. However, this visit, the waiter took down all of the info The restaurant is extremely hectic and noisy. The downtown location has an authentic Italian feel and an extensive menu. We were celebrating my wife's birthday and were ready to spend $200 on dinner and wine. We arrived before 6pm and were able to take advantage of the happy hour prices to save money on drinks and appetizers. We followed the recommendations of our waitress who was very helpful. We chose the classic Italian dinner combination that provided two great meals, that were too big to finish, plus two dinners to take home with us. The overall experience was very good and we spent less than $100, including tip, with dinners in our refrigerator for a few more nights. Maggiano's always gives us great food and portions for the price. This past time our server, Brian, was absolutely brilliant. Very good food. The Chicken Picatta was done perfectly and the chicken breast was juicy and tender. The Spinach Salad is definitely worth a try. The Caesar Salad, not so much, unless you enjoy the taste of plain lettuce and a "whisper" of Caesar dressing. I asked for and did receive a small side bowl of dressing, which was just ok. The fresh baked bread is also very good. If you enjoy butter with your bread, be sure to request warmed/softened butter or you will spend several minutes just chasing the frozen chip of butter you tried to split from the 'pat'.
