Diner Reviews
  • "My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary of 28 years at Maggiano's, Chevy Chase on 7/6/14, and had a wonderful, romantic experience!! The food and ambiance was exquisite and our waiter was very friendly, charming and knowledgeable; he even noted my casual mention of our anniversary, and kindly commemorated it with a plate of lemon-iced, crescent cookies with lit candles!! A very memorable dining experience!! We will recommend Maggiano's to friends and family- and definitely plan to visit again soon!!"

  • "Maggiano's continues it downward trend. Dishes unclean, meals filthy. The classic restaurant is gone and now an Olive Garden knock off poorly done."

  • "Having dinner here was a great idea. We received incredible service from beginning to end. The waiter was very accommodating and knowledgeable of the menu. The atmosphere was warm and had a beautiful ambience. I would readily go back!!"

  • "My kids are hamburger, chicken nuggets, and pizza children, so I was concerned about taking them to an Italian-American restaurant. They ordered the kids pizza (go figure) and they LOVED it. The pizza portions were perfect sizes for my big 10 year old and just enough for a take home for my little one. Thank you for a great introduction to Maggianos! The entire family can agree on a new favorite restaurant. Next time, we will introduce the kids to something different on the menu."

  • "I don't get to go often but when I do its well worth it. They have the best mussels ever and the rest of the menu is pretty good. I particularly liked the mini deserts...nice way to end the evening!!!"

  • "We had a wonderful waiter. He really made the dinner enjoyable for us. Super fast service and a great value."

  • "My friend and I took advantage of their Marco's Meal for 2, in which you choose 2 classic pastas, salads or a joint appetizer, and a joint dessert (a generous creme brulee), plus take home 2 classic pastas for $40. We had one of their cheapest bottles of wine @ $38. Total for 2 complete dinners with wine & 2 take-home entrees, tax and 20% tip: $104. The only vegetarian options among the classic pastas are the eggplant parmigiana and mushroom ravioli in a cream sauce. I don't like creamy sauces. I eat eggplant parm. frequently, and theirs was not as good as many. The eggplant was cut thin, making the breading hide virtually all the taste of eggplant. They should thicken the slices or offer another vegetarian option."

  • "I know that Maggiano's is not fine dining. I remember though when it first opened that we used to find it to be a reliably pleasant and well-kept place and occasionally enjoy an evening out there. The menu is the same as always: we enjoy that in a reliable Grandma's-comfort-food kind of way. We haven't enjoyed recent visits & I think this latest one will be our last. Decor is disappearing. Loud small children at 50% of the tables (30% of the rest of the tables - including ours - had quiet small children), the bathroom had overflowing trash, no tp in the stalls, and a roach wandering around, and our waiter treated us to a story about his personal problems and brought me a wine glass "just in case" when I told him I didn't want any alcohol."

  • "Usually I stay away from sit down chains, but I was pleasantly surprised by this Maggiano's location. Service was attentive, friendly and got the food out quickly. Obviously not gourmet Italian fare, but for the price and convenience the food exceeded expectations. There is a buy one get one free to go deal with their "Classic Pastas," but my girlfriend and I both found our dishes lackluster the next day. If you only go for that offer, you'll be disappointed, but otherwise this Maggiano's won't disappoint."

  • "We had not been in Maggiano's in years. A gift card from one of our sons lured us back a few nights ago, and we weren't sure what to expect. Online ratings were all over the map, with most of the negative comments directed at the service--but with enough positive ratings about the food to intrigue. In contrast to what some other raters wrote, we found the service prompt and the servers friendly. Didn't like being told I should order a Rob Roy, but assumed the waitress was under orders to push it. The Gray Goose and tonic I ordered was well mixed. The entrees were not outstanding, but good: my wife had chicken piccata and I had veal marsala. I did give the latter extra points for the impressive mushrooms!"

  • "Table service was slow. Tried too hard to get us to order family style. I wanted a vegetarian or spinach lasagna but they don't have it. I ordered Mom's and it was heavy, dense, tasteless, and not hot. Then at the end of dinner they brought out bags with more food to take home, and I'm still it sure why."

  • "Food was cold when it arrived, after a very long wait. We gave our water our parking ticket to be stamped. When we got to the parking lot to check out, turned out he had never stamped our ticket. We had to pay full price for parking. When my son called about the mistake about the parking ticket, he was hung up on. I would not recommend this particular restaurant to anyone. Not worth the hassle. The place is huge, but my son complained about the loud noise."

  • "Meat sauce was on the table when we sat down. We did not go at "prime time", so waiting an hour and thirty minutes for our dinner was not expected. The kids meals came out before the appetizers. It was another hour before the adult meals were served. They were obviously sitting under a heat lamp as the mashed potatoes had developed a "crust" on top. The food, once received, was very tasty. The steak was cooked perfectly, the salmon Oscar was seasoned well, and the kids loved their pizza's. Frozen Bellini's were awesome! The manager was very nice about the "problem" and apologized. We ordered meals that were supposed to come with take home pasta dishes but the waiter never returned. We feared another hour long wait and left w/o them."

  • "The food here, while not imaginative, is very good as far as it goes, with standard but well executed offerings in this American version of an Italian restaurant. The portions are huge and the pasta dishes and marinara sauces tasty. The noise level could be improved when it's crowded and wines by the glass, at about $9.50 and up, are unduly highly priced. Still, I'd happily return, and happily take leftovers of their abundant portions home!"

  • "Seated immediately, which was great! We had a nice Father's Day dinner, and enjoyed the Meal for Two which was a very good value. Nice to see so many families enjoying themselves. Given that this was Father's Day and a lot of people, I believe our service was slow. As a result, we had to pay for parking and wait longer than I would have expected or liked."

  • "The only complaint it was to load in the restaurant. Everything was excellent you have the best Italian food in the whole metropolitan area. Like I said beside the noise everything was excellent"

  • "I was anticipating my reservations and food service to be a bit delayed due to the fact that it was both Fathers Day and a Sunday. To my surprise, Maggiano's was extremely accommodating and timely on all accords! The food was delicious and enjoyed by all! There was a minor discrepancy on an item that was to be taken home but the mgmt staff quickly corrected the error with extreme alacrity and courtesy. We were extremely impressed! I'd definitely recommend this restaurant!"

  • "I'd give Maggiano's a B. The food was good, but not amazing. The service was ok. They have the ability to seat large parties and if the group wants to, dinner can be ordered family style, or not."

  • "We visit Maggiano's often, and this visit was worse service ever. Over 40 minutes to take our food order, no drink order taken. Appetizer never served..food okay, but waiter never checked on us. Our waiter was too busy taking care of (literally doting over them) a large party who kept ordering drinks...we spoke with a manager who took 50% off our bill, but still unacceptable service."

  • "Our department of about 25 people went out for lunch there together. We did the family style option. The food and ambience is nice. However we were never told that it would be one check. These days people pay with credit cards- so our dining experience was interrupted because employees had to leave to run to the nearest ATM to pay with cash- please please please let groups know in advance to come prepared to pay IN CASH and that you do not do itemized credit card payment and the tips, gratuity are talleyed in the final one enormouse bill."

  • "I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The eggplant parmigiana was amazing and you get a 2nd one for free to take home. The linguini and clam sauce was so tasty – they did not skimp on the clams and the sauce was very good. The chocolate cake was delectable and a good size for the money. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."

  • "I love Maggiano's and have dined there location many times, but this was the worst experience ever! - We were seated and left unattended for 30 minutes - It took forever to take our order once we were acknowledged. - Our whole dining experience took 2 hours. - Half of the party had to take food to go when it finally came out because it took over an hour. - We waited so long for everything. - We had to help ourselves to utensils and plates. - Restaurant staff seemed to be hanging out/ non-existence. - Restaurant seemed under staffed. - We were the smallest party at the time (size:6) and the needs of the larger parties were put before us. "

  • "Very good pick! Met a friend who is going back to Vienna, Austria for lunch. As a foodie, I was trying to make note of the way her salmon/crab and my salmon were cooked and presented. I was expecting a crab cake like I fix it. Overall, I was satisfied and Maggiano's gave me ideas. "

  • "Pasta portions have gotten smaller, as well as, the "large" salad. Maybe if they put the food in smaller dishes it would look as though you were getting a full portion. Maybe adding a "free" pasta dish with each ordered dish is making the difference."

  • "We dine frequently at Maggiaon's various locations Maryland and in Florida. The food is good but the preparation of the "same item" is not consistent. What we like in Florida is totally different than in Maryland in taste. So, we have learned to order different items in the different locations..I am saying there is no consistency which they need to work on. As for the service they have the same flaw at all their locations. The servers , not the waiters, bring the food, dump it , and run. The food also comes to fast when one is having a salad or appetizer. The only cure seems to be to refuse to order the main dish until half way through or after you finish the appetizer. Good food, poor management of service persists through the chain."

  • "There were numerous groups celebrating their sons/daughter's graduations; so the atmosphere was very busy but also very festive. It seemed the staff was being taxed to their limits but we were seated at a booth, it was very comfortable and our waiter was great in trying to keep up with everyone; nothing was lacking or left needed so we had a very nice dining experience; we were celebrating my wife's mother's day and after the experience she felt very satisfied that it was a special occasion. The dining experience in Maggiano's is especially nice with white table cloths, good quality wine at reasonable prices and quality entree's and appetizer's, also at reasonable prices. I also am somewhat spoiled by their valet parking."
