Maggiano's is a great pick for dining in Boston for large and small groups. It can be busy and loud at times, but well worth a visit even if it's just two of you. The service was great to start, but it started to really slow down as the night wore on and on many occasions we wondered if they forgot about us. Our company was good so we didn't mind visiting with each other. It just seemed like the staff wanted to get out of there more than they wanted to continue to service us. The all-you-can-eat concept is very appealing. Their calamari is the best. We really enjoyed the chicken and spinach manicotti a lot, this dish was really delicious. The only downside is the noise level on a busy Sat. night, which is to be expected, but the food more than makes up for it. First time the service and the food was great despite it being busy. The second time was also busy and our waiter seemed to keep forgetting about us. The tables near us who were seated several minutes after we arrived ordered drinks, received them, and were ordering appetizers before our waiter even came to the table. We also had to eat half of our meal without drinks because our refills took such a long time. But the food was great! The third time the service was great, food came fast and was delicious. My only complaint was that my pasta came with cheese on it, even though the menu didn't say it did, and being lactose intolerant I couldn't eat it. We ordered the table size Maggiano salad, and 4 different dinners. We sampled each other's meals to get an idea for next time. It was a Wednesday night, which worked out great because the restaurant was not overcrowded and was fairly quiet compared to other times that we have dined there. Everyone that we had contact with was friendly and accommodating. Our server, Brian, was very attentive and cheerful. I had several special requests on how I wanted my dinner prepared and he made sure they were all met. He really made the evening for us. Bread basket was constantly filled, drinks came to the table quickly, etc. Food was good, although it wasn't hot. Waitstaff is friendly and attentive and you never feel like they are chasing you out. I suggest that you make reservations, we went on Mother's day and they were turning walk ins away. The Italian salad was really delicious (great dressing!) and our main courses were very good too. Although there were quite a few large parties there celebrating birthdays, the noise level was moderate and we had no trouble conversing. But if you don't like it when Happy Birthday is sung several times for all to hear, this is not a restaurant for you.
