Diner Reviews
  • "It is all worth it. Well orchestrated meal. And Chef Jessied came to serve the amuse bouche, which is a nice touch. Best tasting I ever had."

  • "Each dish was prepared with special attention to every ingredient, resulting in intense and wonderful flavors. The service was attentive, something happening every minute, whether the amuse-bouches or the palate cleansers. Every dish was explained as well. We had the 6-course prix fixe, and it was a bargain. This meal in a ig city would cost much more. Congratulations to the staff for this incredible achievement."

  • "My husband and I settled on the 6 course menu. I must emphasize that every dish was exquisite visually and the service was impeccable. The use of ingredients was very creative. We were served with MANY amuse bouche during the entire dinner. Firefly Squid - these are cute little tiny whole squids that I did not enjoy. The chilled Delta Asparagus tasted clean and very refreshing. The Onion Veloute was the highlight of the meal while the Caramelized Artichokes were decent. The mushroom risotto was solid, and the black cod just melted in your mouth. The roasted lamb was tough, and the Wagyu beef was not worth the $35 supplement. The cheese cart was quite a show. The Dip & Dot cheesecake was a must, and the ice cream was very good."

  • "We have watched for years as this restaurant has gotten better and better. It is now the favorite place for special occasions or just for a quiet romantic supper. Wonderful, creative food. Best wine list in Sonoma County. Fresh ingredients from their garden. A beautiful, flower-filled landscape. One of the best features is that they do not turn over tables. Your table is your table for as long as you wish to stay."

  • "This is my 6th or 7th time at Madrona Manor and I must say that each time has been unique and individual. The service has always been friendly and impeccable without being overly stuffy or pretentious. The food flavors are delightful and complex. I particularly enjoyed the young cheese server who was so serious and intent on his mission to provide just the right information and serving size. Great sense of humor and yet, still knowledgeable and simply into his providing us with interesting tidbits about each cheese. Sommelier was friendly and wanted to make sure we tasted before purchasing, to ensure we truly enjoyed. As with each previous dinner this most recent experience rates among my best!"

  • "My husband took me here for my big 60! The grounds of the Madrona Manor in the month of March were beautiful and meticulously kept with tulips and flowers everywhere. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. They knew ahead of time it was a special birthday and prepared a "memory" menu saying Happy Birthday Linda with the list of menu items. We had the" Chef's Grade Dame" and in addition to the menu the chef prepared many tastes of additional interesting items and the presentation was just out of this world. Highly recommend for a special occasion. Even the bar area( if you can call it that) was very elegant to start your evening off with a delicious cocktail."

  • "Our experience at this wonderful restaurant was exceptionally SUPER GOOD! The meal paring and the wait staff was just outstanding. They treated us as special guest and for our 40th anniversary it was special; the wine was excellent and the setting was also excellent."

  • "Perhaps my expectations were too high since I had one of the best meals of my life there 2 years ago. We had the six course chefs recommendation. Some of the courses were excellent, but some of the nibbles they brought out between courses were on leaves and tasted like grass. The lamb was a real disappointment - overcooked and lacking in flavor."

  • "I can't say enough about Madrona Manor! The service was excellent! So friendly, attentive and knowledgable. It all started great- our reservation was for 8:45 but we optimistically strolled in at 6:30 and they were able to seat us then- so pleased by the luck of that. From the beginning each member of the staff that visited the table was so cool and fun. Not often seen at most 'fancy' places. The food and the many gifts were delicious and perfectly made. I cannot wait to return! :)"

  • "Superlative over use can be off-putting and actually defeat its intent, however, one cannot be overly effusive when commenting on the Madrona Manor. Whether you stay at the mansion or just dine there, you will not be disappointed. Each of the rooms are truly special, and the restaurant is without doubt one of California's finest. In short, go. Stay for a visit and dine at the restaurant. You will never forget it."

  • "We went to Madrona Manor for Thanksgiving dinner. Other places that we love were already booked so we decided to try Madrona Manor. It is beautiful. The grounds quite lovely even in the dark. The four of us all felt that for the price we should have gotten more. Very small portions. Every one was disappointed. Nothing ventured nothing gained. We won't go back on a holiday. There are other restaurants in the area that do Thanksgiving at a better price and quite delicious."

  • "I am impressed, Madrona Manor you take the award for best restaurant in Sonoma County. A hidden gem tucked awake in Healdsburg. One of the most beautiful venues I have ever dined at: very classic & regal environment. Service is impeccable & food is beyond my initial expectations. Favorites: Amuse Bouche = Egg Froth Course = Local Urchin Course = Carnaroli Risotto w/truffles The staff here are friendly as you would expect at a restaurant like this. What set them apart from the rest were their playful interactions during the service. At the end of service the Executive Chef, Jesse Mallgren went table to table to thank the patrons and to ask for any feedback."

  • "Beautiful setting and grounds, the manor is eye candy. Friendly and attentive wait staff. Amazing menu with food focused on flavor, presentation, aroma, and texture. Every course an experience. Ambiance lovely but not stuffy. Four hours felt like 15 minutes we enjoyed our time so much. I'd have to say it came very close to our dining experience at Laserre in Paris. One star Michelin well deserved! The chef is very talented."

  • "Located in a historic house, Madrona Manor has wonderful food. Basically, the menu has two tasting menu options: one where you compose your own by picking one of three options for each of the five courses and the second that is a chef's selection. Both have optional wine pairings and optional extras for some courses. I would have like a few more choices, but everything I had was spot on."

  • "Great fine dining experience. Food was delicious and enough to feel satisfied. The only dish my husband and I didn't like was the 'The gift' I love beats but this dish was beater and didn't work for my palate We will definitely come back"

  • "We visited MM on Valentines Day. The rooms were set for couples throughout. The Old California/Sonoma County atmosphere is just right for a romantic dinner and the food in variety and composition was tops. The young people serving at MM are well trained and enthusiastic...but not overbearingly so. We had the fixed menu and each course surprised in sophisticated composition and presentation and rewarded the palate. MM continues to be a favorite of ours for special occasions. The wine list, of course, is extensive. Oh...the mixologist is tops so don't hesitate to try one of the house specialties."

  • "My husband and I spent a very enjoyable romantic evening at Madrona Manor for an early Valentine's dinner. The food was absolutely delicious, we had the four course dinner that had a variety of amuse bouches between courses! We tasted items we never knew existed! The presentation of the food was quite artistic, the service was wonderful, very friendly and engaging wait staff. Not an inexpensive evening but well worth every penny! We will be back!"

  • "Another perfect experience with the team at Madrona Manor. This was the third time my wife and I have chosen MM for our anniversary celebration, and it has never failed us in ANY way. Their remarkable and inventive chef Jesse Mallgren, is meticulous in his presentation and his combinations of delicious flavors. We chose to do the tasting menu, and were quite blown away by each of the eight-plus courses we were served. In the three times we've done this menu, there has never been anything remotely similar, kudos to Chef Jesse!!! Our menus were personalized for our occasion, the wine list was outstanding, the entire friendly staff was involved in the meal, and most of all, the meal itself was unforgettable and awe inspiring."

  • "The Madrona Near My Homa: I have lived in town 12 yrs, first visit. Your place is very like the departed Cyrus in approach and price, with better ambience. Odd that it was so hard to get a reservation online. When I was there, you had a score of empty tables in the various rooms. The food was INTERESTING and tasty but overpriced, and you had a very limited menu (small plates only, and will it be the 5-course or the 10-course?). I did enjoy the meal, but the food vocabulary seemed a trifle pretentious and I really needed a companion Oxford dictionary. Also, it seemed pretty hard to eat plant - based without starving(toast w/creme fraiche slathered on it).But given the >100 dollar per person menu, you really don't want to let anything get by."

  • "We have been here many times and have met Jesse the chef: wonderful! We really enjoyed Josef, the maitre d', however he has recently retired. Josef's charm was infectious, often speaking French with my husband during the evening and telling great stories, keeping a light and jovial spirit thru the evening. His absence is noticed... The food was/is fantastic, creative and a pleasure to enjoy! However, we have decided we will not dine here again unless we can be seated outdoors on the deck. It is a completely different experience sitting inside. It's dated, smells horribly and is not clean. There is a lot of crystal throughout (dated) that is dusty and flat. It is a challenge to not bolt during the 5 course course meal. Sorry Jesse."

  • "For those who rarely dine with tasting menu's, this restaurant should be on your bucket list. Nothing was off limits, and the combination of textures and flavors was really fun and very special. The wait staff wore suits and were available for anything and everything, which included fielding compliments for the exquisitely presented, prepared and flavorful dishes. The restaurant felt a little 'Adam's family' - old victorian, etc, but the food was as eclectic, fresh, and modern. It was perfect, but be prepared to pay for the experience $$$"

  • "Best dining experience in North Bay. Went to French Laundry last year for 30th anniversary, this was better and a way better value for the money. Had the 5 course pre fix plus all the special chef tasting bits. Loved the Uni (sea urchin), the soup, ice cream made at the table, the wagu beef was worth the extra, Lots of other great stuff. Service was perfection, friendly but professional. Dining in a turn of the century home(1900's), too cold to eat on the patio but great ambiance. Patio is great when it is warm enough. We have been here 5-6 times and always had a great experience. We miss Cyrus but this is just as good in a different way....Not cheap but if you love great food, this is worth it."

  • "The menu choics were weak compared to last visit. The experiments that came from the kitchen were, in several instances, completely uninspiring. The service overall was a large step down. We had to pour our own wine many times. In short, the price point is no longer worth the trip. Such a letdown as compared to our last visit and we will definitely have to think hard about whether to return."

  • "The amuse bouches are the outstanding part of the meal. Maybe there were about 8 of them! Nothing wrong with any of the main dishes but nothing said WOW. Had the 5 course dinner. Service is exceptional."

  • "Just a fantastic experience. From Helen, our server, to the bar lady who went to great lengths to invent something to our liking, no loving - and of course, to Chef Jesse who's skill and passion for his art are abundantly apparent. And the all the various wait staff who were a seamless pleasure. Thank you all so much for a wonderful experience."

  • "If you go to Madrona Manor, expect wonderful service, very nice atmosphere, but little to no food. I had a 5 course dinner and left very hungry! The food was good, I guess - hard to tell as it was arranged very nicely on the plate, what little there was of it. To charge $80 to $100 for a meal and have the customer leave hungry it not my idea of a good time."

  • "Our experience at the Christmas themed Dickens Dinner was delightful. Every aspect of the evening was five star from the unique food courses to the thrilling songs offered by the strolling Dickens carolers. Service, presentation and ease of parking factored in to making it an unforgettable holiday night."

  • "We had a room to ourselves, seven in our party. Service was attentive without being intrusive. The wine list was good and reasonably priced not like some restaurants. We had the four course tasting menu with each course having a choice. Between us we probably had all four choices from all four courses and thought all were excellent, fresh, well presented and providing some interesting flavours. There was also some tasty morsels between courses to enhance the meal. We opted for the cheese tasting, which was excellent and not too excessive and with a good commentary , and for the ice cream made at the table. All who tasted the ice cream were suitably impressed. Great place would love to go again, but a bit far from London!"

  • "My partner and I came to Healdsburg to get away from it all and celebrate an un-traditional Thanksgiving. Meaning just the two of us as kids and other family members were all over the country. We were fortunate to secure a reservation at Madrona Manor and we were looking forward to it all day. The dinner, from the hostess' friendly greeting to the service, and dinner were impeccable. The menu was prix fix with wine parings and delicious innovative flavors, perfectly served and romantic. We were impressed with the quality of food, especially the turkey which is difficult to make consistent for such a large service as the dinner."

  • "My husband and I went here on our annual kidless vacation. We decided to leave our fate to the chef and he did not disappoint. I lost count of how many different plates of food we had. Everything was a new exploration for our taste buds. I only wish I was not pregnant so that I could have indulged in the wine pairings. I would highly recommend this restaurant looking for a nice night out to test your culinary boundaries."
