Had originally called to make reservation and left a message. The restaurant never returned my call. The restaurant was out of every appetizer we ordered. Had to settle for chips and salsa. We received water as we sat down and were never offered another choice for beverages and the water didn't get refilled till we were leaving after our meal. Service was poor considering we were the ONLY table in the restaurant. Once we received our food, the check came immediately after, and no one checked on us till we were about to leave. The food was good but the service was poor.

The food was bland. They were out of half the appetizers. They couldn't sell alcohol. The waiter was inattentive. I will not return here again. I will tell friends to pick a better restaurant to go to. I was very disappointed in the experience.

We went to try Madrid, since we had a Groupon. The apple and beet salad was intereting. The gaucamole and chips were fine, but truthfully not much better than what we would get a Chipotle (just more expensive). The decor was interesting. There were only a few other people there - and none by the time we left. An employee was blaring Guns and Roses and singing along loundly for awhile - and then turned it off and no music then. LOL

limited menu for lunch & currently not open for dinner and not open at all on weekends. Frankly, my daughter & I couldn't find anything on the menu that really sparked our interest but we had a groupon that was about to expire. We ended up getting chicken & chorizo tacos to go, and explained to the waiter that we didn't want soggy shells after a 30 minute drive home. He said he would package the shells separately & we could assemble the tacos at home. Well, he packed the shells in a styrofoam container with hot rice! Guess what, the shells were soggy! We won't go back and I won't reccomend.

I had a great experience at Madrid and highly recommend it to others. Modern and classy interior, excellent service, and fantastic food. I went with two other people and we shared several small plates and starters, which was a nice way to sample their menu. Our table shared a pitcher of beautifully prepared and tasty sangria. We sat in the dining room, but I would definitely come back and sit in their bar area as well.

Loved the look of the place. Swanky w/a romantic feel at the same time. Upstairs is beautiful!!! Food was really good. Portions are so large that my husband and I both took 1/2 of our entrees home. We will definitely be going back and our dinner partners said the same thing.

If they focused on quality they'd do much better business. The place is very nice. Too bad they didn't match the food and service with the ambience.

Service and food close to horrendous. Very standard beer selection yet some not available. Olive appetizer was probably 60 or more in a cereal bowl. Period. The only passable item was the $6 fries, enhanced mostly by the cute little fryer basket. We got a second order we'd not asked for, delivered somewhere between our first entree arriving late and waiting for our second...the calamari arrived after we'd finished our ho-hum steak, and it was difficult to even detect anything other than the way-overfried coating. Server/barperson totally nonchalant and uncaring about the whole thing. If you are in the neighborhood, choose The Elevator. I know I'll not make this mistake again.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2012

Went for dinner at 7 on a Friday night and was really surprised at the number of items that that they had already run out of: three of the appetizers (and we got the last of a fourth), and four of the beers. Even the meat and cheese plate was gone! There were also numerous misspelled words on the menu. The waitstaff was not updated as to these changes and our waiter continually had to come back to our table with a menu so we could choose new items. The odd thing was that we ordered, received and ate our appetizer prior to ordering our main meal. The food was hot, but bland. Not worth the price even with a Groupon. This experience is typical for the restaurants owned by this group.

This wasn't as bad a a lot of reviews I read, but it wasn't fantastic either. The server was pleasant and attentive. But they were out of many items. which I find strange on a Friday night, but we were prepared for that from other reviews. Overall I would say it was decent but wouldn't recommend it. We had a Groupon so it was good for the price we paid, but at full price, no way. I could get better and cheaper options at Applebees.

The menu had changed since the last time I was there, and the items that I liked the first time were not on it anymore. Also, they were out of many items that were currently on the menu, making it hard to find something that I wanted. They were nice enough to provide us with a complementary item after the first 3 things we tried to order were out.

The restaurant is well lit and very comfortable, the new interior is much nicer than Barrio. The server was very friendly and knew the menu well.

The food was good, though overpriced for what it was. They were out of a few things we tried to order and the veggie paella was not so great. Our waitress Molly was friendly and attentive. She made the experience more fun.

Thank goodness for a great server! He prevented us from walking out! They were out of drinks, red sangria and baileys and coffee! How with a full service bar? So we ordered white sangria which tasted like a slightly glorified grapefruit juice with no alcohol, when they took it to have it fixed it had orange juice added to it! Really? Then a friend had a piece of wire in her food after she had ordered a salad that came without the apples on it which she had to ask for! Although my food was good, it wasn't anything near what you would expect reading the menu! My suggestion bring back the old Barrio that used to be there! This doesn't even compare! I don't see it lasting very long! All in all we will never go back nor suggest to anyone.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2012

The best part of the meal was the calamari sauce. The "jumbo" scallops were regular sized and under seasoned. Under seasoning was the theme of the meal. The risotto was bland as well as the Chorizo and Chicken. Adult beverages were well balanced.

  • We went to Madrid for my fiance's
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 11/10/2012
We went to Madrid for my fiance's birthday, but were very disappointed. We ordered "fondue" as an appetizer - which was actually a dish filled with melted grainy Velveeta served with tortilla chips. For entrees we ordered a stuffed pepper and a vegetable paella, both of which were not good at all. The "paella" could more appropriately be described as thick and cheesy Rice-a-Roni. This "paella" was on top of my fiancee's stuffed pepper and was the entirety of my dish. It tasted like it came out of massive pot that they've had on the stove the entire dinner service and just keep reaching into as needed. After about 10 minutes (which is how long it took the waiter to bring the drinks we ordered) the "paella" had become a thick paste.

While a bit on the higher end of the price range, the food was good, the menu was off the beaten path, cocktails were well made and the atmosphere was good. I appreciated having several vegetarian options from which to pick. Only downside, after a long day at work in heels, I wish there was valet parking. :)
