"The ambiance is comfortable yet lends itself to a jeans or elegant dressing for a special date. The service is good and the food I found flawless - the salmon was my choice for lunch and my friend loved her steak. A good choice whenever you want to celebrate (it was my friend's birthday) or just have a good meal with a French touch."

"This small French bistro accommodated a group of 10 comfortably in a side room. We enjoyed the price-fixed lunch which was the entire lunch menu. The appetizers were delicious . I had the escargot which were very tender and tasty. The entree of beef braised tips was flavorful and very tender. Only one person in the group did not enjoy her entree of shrimp and risotto -4 small shrimp. The desserts were heavenly. I had the chocolate molten cake. The sorbet was presented beautifully , the Napoleon looked great and there were raves for the crime brûlée . It was a great value for lunch and right across the street from the Morgan Library."

"I have had problems with the service in the past at Madison Bistro, not this time! The waitress was attentive and very knowledgible. The food, as always, was very good. I like that the menu is unusual."

"The service was charming and welcoming. If only the food had been better! Strawberry tart so hard I had to pick it up like a cookie, and then it was just a biscuit with sliced strawberries and some kind of cream on top.... and so on. Not terrible if you have to eat in this neighborhood, but disappointing"

"I understand the restaurant has recently been redesigned and I found the new ambiance a little too spartan. While quiet when we arrived, the room got very noisy as the evening progressed. There is nothing in the decor to absorb sound, so it does get too noisy. Even tablecloths might help.
Staff was friendly and attentive. Given the "bistro" nature of the menu, the wine list prices are skewed too high & some less expensive options are needed.
The menu is authentic bistro style and the food is good, but not outstanding."

"A very nice lunch in a relaxed and mellow atmosphere - tasty, fresh and moderately priced. I met a good friend who I had not seen in over a year and we talked and talked for three hours and no one ever rushed us to leave. I would definitely go back again."
