Great for Brunch
Best Restaurants in Dupont Circle
The quality of the food (burges,
salmon sandwich and mac&cheese) was good. I would not expect that from a clubbish place (it turned into a loud music saturday night club after 11pm). We'll be back for sure."

The server was really nice and the
food was great! It came quickly and was delicious!"

We were actually a bit late
because we misjudged the distance from our hotel but it wasn't a problem. Service as pretty decent and the food was excellent. We chose Madhatter for a special occasion dinner and the food was a reasonable price, the interior was casual but still classy and all around it was a great evening there. The second visit was the complete opposite. Service was TERRIBLE. There was a big game on so it was PACKED. One exit? Can you say fire hazard? Oh and the server I asked for a table from never got back to me to let me know there were no tables and weren't likely to be until after the game. NONE of the servers acknowledged me aside from the one I initially asked for a table from."

Our annual "girl" trip with my two
daughters and sister caused me to find a brunch place for Sunday morning. It was listed as a hometown favorite so it was right up our alley. We loved our brunch and our unlimited mimosas. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. The location was perfect for us to start our day. We arrived a little early so we walked around the neighborhood while we waited. We will definitely recommend the Madhatter to anyone we know that will be visiting DC."

I enjoyed brunch here. Food was
pretty good, the customer service was great! Our server Jasmin was awesome! The theme was cute."
Dined on 5/18/2014
Our family had a very
disappointing Saturday lunch/brunch. Service was inattentive. Burgers were overcooked. Monte Cristo was the worst I have ever had. Agree with other reviewers that this place must succeed only on its bar and alcohol. Don't go for the food."
Dined on 5/3/2014
for the first time ever, I was at
the bar for 5 minutes before anyone asked me for my order. Had never happened before, and there were two staffers behind the bar. Not so good."
Dined on 5/1/2014
Came here for Easter with my
friend after waiting until the day before to find a spot for brunch. Both of our meals were delicious. Would definitely come back."
Dined on 4/20/2014
They were not open late for diner.
It was already a club, so unfortunately we don't know. "

i dont think it really deserves
the 4 stars that it shows online. the food was alright but the service is what got me. we arrived on time for our reservations and yet we had to wait and a couple different servers came up to us and told us to wait 5 minutes.. 3 times..when we were finally seated, it took so long for the waiter to come and take our orders for drinks/food..basically everything was slow..the waiter had a bit of an attitude to one of the people in our group as well..i wont be coming back."

Excellent service, nice bar, good
food! I'll be back tomorrow."
Dined on 4/8/2014
Came here for Brunch on Sunday.
The french toast was delicious. I would skip the mimosas tho, probably the worst I have ever had."
Dined on 4/6/2014
We went for brunch because they
have an all you can drink mamosa deal for 12.00 or make your own Bloody Mary bar. My daughter said she had been there before. The food was average at best. I had a steak and eggs breakfast. My eggs were way over cooked and dry and the steak was grilled with BBQ sauce. Now, you mat say so what. BBQ sauce, however nowhere on the menue does it say the steak is cooked in BBQ sauce or even marinated. I do not care for those favors on a steak plusit was a bit tough. Won't go back"
Dined on 4/6/2014
The service was outstanding. The
food was decidedly mediocre. My brother ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich, it was completely uncooked on one side. My tostadas ranchers, which came highly recommended, were decidedly so-so. I'm guessing the sweet breakfast foods (pancakes, waffles, etc.) are better than the savory ones we ordered."

I have only been here for Brunch-
which was FANTASTIC, the food was fantastic- the service- bottomless mimosas for $12- everything was really great!. (Make a reservation!) I can't speak for the night crowd."

Our waitress Candace was
phenomenal. She was funny, attentive, and overall extremely nice. She gave honest and unbiased opinions on the food, being it was my friend and I first time. She was superb! Awesome place.......truly"

If u love bottomless mimosas,
Bloody Mary bar, great service and food then go to mad hatters"
Dined on 3/9/2014
The Madhatter was a great brunch
spot. The menu makes it hard to decide what to order. The bottomless mimosas are delicious and the waitstaff is on top of your refills making sure your glass never runs dry."
Dined on 3/8/2014
My group was quite happy with the
fresh coffee, bloody marys and unlimited mimosas. I'd recommend the Hangover Helper and the Bisqwich. The french toast was also tasty!"
Dined on 3/2/2014
Decided to try the brunch at
Madhatter after seeing that they have bottomless mimosas for $12. Our waiter was very attentive and kept the drinks coming even when the place started to get busy. That is something key if you wanna get your money's worth for bottomless drinks IMO. I had the french toast, which they make with thick french baguette bread that was perfect. (not too soggy, etc) Side breakfast potatoes were seasoned very well and the bacon was just the right amount of crispy. Overall a good experience and worth a look for weekend brunch--they have a back patio that should"

We showed up for our dinner
reservation and the place was so crowded and loud we couldn't get in the door. There was a rowdy line on the street trying to get in. We are in the diner next store which was very good."
Dined on 2/15/2014
Ecclectic decor. Came for Monday
specials (including lobster, half-price wine, trivia). Trivia was played upstairs in run-down bar area. Had to go into another room to order food (no specials mentioned at all). No servers ever take drink orders, have to get your own. Food portions were large and quite good."
Dined on 2/17/2014
The food was just okay. To be
fair, we only ate items off the appertizer menu. The dining experience wasn't bad, it was just okay. There are so many other restaurants in the area that have better food and service."

selection is outstanding!!!"

Visited Madhatter in 1/25/13 with
a group of friends celebrating a birthday. Overall a great place for friends to get together. The food was very good and plentiful. Fajitas comb was good, the salmon and steak dish was great. But you must try the big HAT Drink."

I love Madhatter for their
bottomless mimosas, but what really keeps me coming back is their Eggs Chesapeake. A great spin on a classic brunch favorite."

I came here with a group of
friends for dinner before a night of dancing. We were craving some good American food, and MadHatter exceeded our expectations! We opted for the signature Hatter Punch - a spiked fruity soda served in a giant top hat! Split among five people it was perfect for sipping while catching up and mulling over the menu. I went for the fish tacos appetizer and they were fantastic. I'm a big fan of grouper and when paired with the guac and chipotle mayo it was a spicy and tender dish. We stayed downstairs at our table the whole time, but the bar upstairs sounded loud and perfect for dancing! Can't wait to come back and check it out more. I'm sure I will add another star once I've gotten the full "Mad" experience. :)"

The restaurant looked quaint on
Yelp and so we gave it a try. The food was fine. I had the plate with eggs, bacon, a piece of toast and two pancakes, as well as hash browns. I shared with my son, who had the Eggs Chesapeake (benedict with crab). I have a feeling that the unlimited mimosas and the bloody mary bar are the reasons this place may be popular. It seems mainly like a bar that serves food too. Asia was a lovely server and we enjoyed our meal."

I recently went to Madhatter for
my 25th birthday brunch and they could not have been more accommodating. Not only did I change the number of people at the last minute, I actually had to double the size of our party. They set up a private room for us upstairs which ended up being lovely. I even had to add two more chairs at the last minute and our server had no problems. He was also willing to split the checks even though we were a group of 16. Very good for groups!"
Dined on 12/22/2013
Ample portions comensurate with
price. Wait for food to be served seemed to be too long given that the restaurant wasn't busy during the lunch time we were there."
Dined on 12/16/2013
There's something here for
everyone. I usually go for the Best Donut Ever but have also had the steak and eggs, which are delicious. My last visit was with a vegetarian friend and they were happy to substitute the sausage that came with her blueberry pancakes for fruit. The menu isn't extraordinary in and of itself (aside from the Best Donut Ever) but sometimes it's good to know a place that does the classics well. Plus, there's the build your own bloody mary bar and unlimited mimosas for a reasonable price."
Dined on 12/14/2013
We were in a secluded area for
brunch. The food was good but a bit cold. However we were mainly there to have a good time and drink mimosas: mission accomplished. Our waiter was wonderful."
Dined on 12/14/2013
The food and service at the
Madhatter is fine - but I would recommend against using Open Table. The host has twice deleted my reservation, and always has an excuse when I call to ask why - after they have seated me - they have deleted my reservation."
Dined on 11/11/2013
Great late-night find in NW. The
bars closest to our hotel closed a bit early for DC, but Madhatter stayed open until 2a. I ordered the fish tacos and a garden salad- both were good. The drinks were decent. We would go back!!"
Dined on 11/29/2013
Food is always delicious. I love
going to brunch here. Food is inexpensive and makes my tummy happy. Steal and egg burrito and French toast are my favorites."
Dined on 11/24/2013
Went here with a coworker for
lunch and was really pleased with the quality of the food. Will definitely be back soon!"

My friend suggested Madhatter as a
fun and energetic place to meet for brunch. Typical in DC, I decided to make a reservation and OpenTable made it easy. Upon arrival our table was immediately available and I was seated without my entire party present. I like that. They soon did arrive and the friendly hostess brought them to our table. Service was solid. Portions were a good size and reasonably priced. Atmosphere was energetic. I look forward to our next brunch."

Madhatter accepted a reservation
on a night that they were having a special event unbeknownst to me. When I called to confirm the reservation, the person I spoke with on the phone acknowledged having my reservation. When I arrived the tables were cleared and there was nowhere to be seated. I've eaten at Madhatter twice before and it was outstanding. I was surprised at this particular incident."

Went for Sunday brunch with a
group of 5. We had a reservation. If we had a smaller group, we probably wouldn't have needed it. It was pretty empty when we arrived. We sat on the upstairs level which stayed pretty empty. Our booth had a very strange bench:table ratio, but we made it work. They have several varieties of eggs benedict that were tried in our group, and a couple of people had the chicken & waffles. Everyone was happy with their meal. Our server gave us an extra carafe of mimosa after we had paid our bill."

I recently visited for brunch this
past Saturday. Didn't have to wait long for a table at all. Our server was named Freddy and he was quick to offer us drinks and check to see if we wanted to order anything while we waited for another person. Once we ordered food it came out fairly quickly. One person's food wasn't as hot as the other plates at the table, but she still enjoyed her food regardless. Going to the Madhatter is a special treat we give ourselves every month or so and I definitely can't wait to go again!"
