In addition to indoor and outdoor dining, Madera offers two private dining rooms with private terraces and cozy fireplaces. The Lemon Room seats up to 10 guests, and the Orange Room up to 14 guests.

This Menlo Park restaurant is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner and for Sunday brunch as well.

  • "Had high expectations for a Michelin star restaurant, but the cod was flavorless as was the beef entree. The appetizers were also non-spectacular. The vegetarian options were much more flavorful but at the prices charged, we were sorely disappointed overall and will not be back (at least for dinner)l!"

  • "It's a lovely spot - but I feel like there was too much emphasis on trying to be trendy / creative and not enough on taste. For instance the Halibut Crudo appetizer - it was pretty to look at, with interesting little pearls of melon and sea grapes but the dish overall was bland and tasteless. My wife ordered the salmon - it was inedible - it was cooked sous-vide - again very high tech and creative - but led to disgusting texture and she said it just didn't taste good. At our table we also had the steak and duck entree's - they were both just ok - the steak came with pickled mushrooms - which again was just a weird decision and strange taste combination. My advice to the restaurant - calm down on presentation, and focus on taste."

  • "Please do NOT waste your money here. The food was so bad. I sent my parents for their anniversary and they had to send back their food and choked down some of the inedible food just to not make a scene. The lettuce was wilty, there was no seasoning on the food, the salmon was raw."

  • "It was certainly entertaining from a people watching perspective on a Thursday night with the ladies circling outside the bar area like sharks. The food was nothing to write home about and was quite disappointing. My sole was salty and so was the pasta appetizer. I would stick with the bar food, the tuna tartar was very good but again, salty once you reached the bottom of the plate. Also, I would avoid Thursday nights unless you want some entertainment or looking for love in all the wrong places."

  • "The Rosewood is still one of my favorite spots in the Bay Area, but it's lost a bit of sparkle for me on this last visit. Our server was fantastic - quite hilarious, actually. Great service. However, the hosts were disorganized and made an awkward "check-in" & 1st impression for my guests. We (3) all ordered the heirloom tomato appetizer, but the dishes were inconsistent. 1 dish had 2x the tomatoes vs others. 1 dish missing melon balls & pesto sauce. - No fresh-squeezed juice - Disappointed with the basil spaghetti, not flavorful - We didn't go with the server's dessert suggestion, which may explain why it was just "ok" (not excellent) I remembered Madera as a world-class experience, but it didn't live up to my expectations."

  • "I have had lunch and dinner at the Madera and both have been lovely. The setting is relaxing and the pace of the meal is well timed. The food is good depending on what you order. We had the duck and though the skin was crispy the meat was hard to cut. It was tasty and the vegetable along with the dish complemented the duck. The lunch menu has something for everyone and the salads are excellent."

  • "My guests and I spent a wonderful eating and dining experience!!! It was my son's birthday and they put a Happy Birthday Brian, on the menu. The server was wonderful and helpful. The meal was delicious---beautifully served and great to taste!! The desserts were delectable. I would refer anyone for a wonderful dining experience!!!!"

  • "Although my husband thinks it is. Ate outside in lovely weather. A little windy and the sun nice. Thought the freeway was loud but maybe because of the wind direction. Food sophisticated but easy for those dieting. Nothing really hit it out of the park but nothing approaching bad. My husband loves this place for business meetings and for the food so maybe it was just me or a sort of a blah night? I am certainly willing to try again..."

  • "I don't know how the restaurant received a Michelin One Star. The service and food was awful. Specifics below. Our reserved table was not ready. In fact we were told that they had no idea when the table would be ready, so we were put in a private room in the back, not by choice. We felt very isolated and forgotten. Our server told us to simply throw something at them if we need to get their attention. The timing between salads and appetizers were way to long. The appetizers were bland. Every main dish had to be sent back. The pasta dishes were overcooked and burned. The steak dishes were either cold or extremely tough and confirmed by the manager The cod fish was dry and vegetables overcooked A special birthday was ruined"

But the location makes it an easy choice. It's right off 280 at Sand Hill Road. There's not much along 280, so this is an easy choice to meet with a combined SF, Peninsula and South Bay group."

  • "I was disappointed with lunch. The food was ordinary and wine by the glass had an exorbitant markup. For the prices charged, I expected higher quality food. The best dish we had was the cannelloni starter - there was one quite small, but excellent avocado crab cannelloni for $18. The dining room itself and the balcony are lovely spaces."

  • "We are not hard to please but this was a bad experience overall. We were about the only diners to check in around 5:30pm. The hostess wanted to sit us in the back, away from the windows. When we asked to be close to the windows she seemed very put out and placed us next to a windy doorway. We asked that the lamb be prepared medium, it came out rare so it was sent back. On dessert, we noticed that one item didn't appear to have dairy and confirmed it with the waiter. It came out in a bowl with cream all on the bottom. We had five different waiters over the course of the meal which we noticed was was occuring with the other tables. No one seemed to remember what we asked for plus they were hard to find as they rotated so much. Not Good!"

  • "This was our 5th dinner at Madera this year. We are always excited to see the new items on an already creative menu. The amuse bouche is always a nice surprise,the last one being a pico de gallo consomme. We ordered scallops crudo and lamb rib eye. W have never had either one before and both were absolutely delicious. For dessert We have ordered the beignets 3 times and still think about them at home. They are rolled in cardamon and sugar and served with quince sauce and honey. We always order vanilla ice cream too! It's a good idea to order them at the beginning of the meal as they take about 15 minutes to make The service is lovely and the waiters are very knowledgeable about wine pairing. We're looking forward to our next dinner!!"

  • "I had been here for lunch before and liked it. Have been wanting to go for dinner. Considering that this is a Michelin starred restaurant, the food was very disappointing. May be they were awarded the Michelin star based on the excellent extensive wine list, which is indeed impressive. But the food was bland and my halibut was overcooked. The presentation of the food was gorgeous but that's form over substance."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed a very pleasant brunch at the Rosewood. We sat on the patio with a beautiful view of the surrounding hills. It was slightly chilly and the attentive server noticed and immediately offered to turn on the overhead heat. It was a lovely day with superb service. My wife has a number of food allergies and the staff was very considerate of her special needs and made sure her meal was properly prepared. I enjoyed a rare treat of fried eggs, bacon, wheat toast, and breakfast potatoes. Since I am a health nut I enjoy this feast maybe once a year. It was FANTASTIC."

Limited menu, the appetiser was good but the main dish '"salmon" was like an appetizer with little or no garnish. The server must have been a graduate of the "Olive Garden". He never explain anything and while we did not have dessert because it was cold and he never asked if he should turn on the heater. We went in the bar had dessert and the service was outstanding! Recommend bar and stay out of the main dinning room unless you like poor service and over priced food!"
