We visited the Mad Greek with neighbours because we had found another Greek restaurant too loud. Saturday was a very busy day as there was an international dance competition in town. Our helpings were generous and tasty but we had to adjourn to a coffee shop to continue our conversation.

This hidden gem is tucked away off busy Westminster Hwy. From the outside it doesn't look like much but then inside the restaurant is huge and filled with Greek ambiance. This open room with vaulted ceiling creates spaciousness, perfect for large parties. The food was good but the signature dishes displayed in Dine-Out-Vancouver left more to be desired. The traditional 'slab' of feta on the salad listed on the menu ended up being a very disappointing tiny dollop. The spinach & feta pie had an overwhelming amount of spinach with no sign of feta. Customer service was lacking. The candle was an LED light. The loud group tables and hockey game were distracting from our romantic dinner. This restaurant needs improving but has potential!

The waitress was nice, food is good. We ordered the Niko Platter for two, it was kind of big for two, we couldn't finish it. I tried other greek food before, the chicken always overcooked, but here is just so tender n juicy. would love to visit again soon to try other items on the menu.

The servers were very busy. It was not their fault but it took too long for water, etc. The noise from a large group at the other end of the room was no less than shouting. The taste of the food was not as good as the last time. I will opt out of honing back.

The portion of the food has shrunk. There was no Greek salad and just a half of potato on each plate of entree. There was no refill of pita bread. We were a little bit disappointed. the restaurant may charge a lot more for a standard Canadian portion.

We chose this restaurant for proximity to the hotel where some out of town guest were staying and because it was greek. I would say we all enjoyed ourselves but the prices seemed a little high compared to the portion at least for the chicken I had. The service was good.

Food is over-priced. Very expensive for what you get. Too bad because i really used to like eating here. An order of lamp chops used to be $16 (which includes a small side of greek salad) before they moved to their current location on Westminster Highway. Now, the lamp chop is $23 and you have to pay an extra $2 for a side greek salad (totalling $25). The lamb chop seems to be smaller too and not as tasty as before. Unlikely coming back.

Food is overpriced for what you get. I used to go to this place even when they were in their original, smaller location. Lamp chops including a side greek salad was $16 back then. Now its $23 for the lamp chops and you will have to pay an extra $2 more for a side of greek salad. I noticed that the lamp chops were smaller as well. I looked at the other items in the menu and there were at least 25% more than other comparable greek restaurants. I think i've had my last visit to this place.

We had an opportunity to dine out at Mad Greek Restaurant in Richmond, BC on Fri, 1 Feb 2013 during the Vancouver Dine out season. We were thrilled and excited to try out Vancouver Dine out menu. We ordered roast lamp and vegetarian moussaka. We did not enjoy the dinner due to over cooked and no flavour. We were very disappointed with quality of the food. We did not finish our plates and left the restaurant unsatisfactory and unhappy. I never had the worst experienced such a bad quality of Greek food on my entire life and never ever will go back to the Mad Greek Restaurant. The name represents a lot. Overall the food and atmosphere were great. The only criticism I have is that the food portions were quite small. I am not sure if this is normal or the plates were scaled down for the Dine Out Vancouver offerings. If the latter is the case, I feel it is counterproductive as the restaurant is trying to attract new customers. I believe this is the 1st time I have ever left a Greek restaurant still hungry.

The restaurant was very busy as expected as it was the first night of Dine Out Vancouver. In spite of that the server was pleasant and quick to bring our drinks and food. Everything was hot and served within a good timeline. The appetizers (we all had the spinach pie) were excellent, crisp and flaky with a nice bite from the feta cheese. Our next course was the prawn souvlaki and it came with a spiced rice and potato along with a bowl of creamy tzatziki for dipping. All in all a very satisfying dish. The baklava for dessert did not disappoint either, it was not too sweet and just enough to finish off the meal. The only item I would not order again was the dollar a piece pita, it was very white and tasted like styrofoam.

Walking inside the Mad Greek, we were unprepared for the expansive taverna that awaited us. The atmosphere was energetic and the staff was very accommodating and cheerful. The food was very good and the servings were good size. I was amazed to see that there weren't more hotel guests there. It is just across the street from a number of hotels. It appears to have a small parking lot and it appears small from the street. Surprise! there is lots of parking at the back and the restaurant is roomy and bright inside. Definitely a find worth sharing in Richmond.

The small exterior look shelters the high vaulted ceiling inside. The woodwork combined with the Greco stylings inside make it a perfect Greek Restaurant visually. The food was hot, well portioned and delicious. The service was impeccable! She was delightful, suggested food options, and was very attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant. Excellently located by several hotels in the downtown core of Richmond BC. I would recommend the Lamb and the Keftedes! Succulent, tender and perfectly spiced.

When the appetizer is a supermarket bag salad, the entree's major feature is a plate full of reheated frozen peas and the dessert is rock hard (when it shouldn't be!), then it hardly needs to be said that there's a problem with the menu. Aside from mediocre food, the service was also indifferent, disorganized and slow. We would not return again.

I thought the Dine out portions were not filling. Had to eat more after we got home. We ordered the lamb chops which were good (3 tiny individual chops, not enough) however the side vegetables was made from a bag of frozen mix of peas and overcooked green beans. I was pleased with the service but the meal was not something I would recommend to others nor return for.

Went here on a weekend. The restaurant was packed and was so incredibly noisy that you literally had to scream at the person sitting across from you to be heard. As if that wasn't loud enough, they piped in even LOUDER music for the belly dancer's performance (which wasn't that great either). The noise was headache-inducing and really detracted from the experience. The food was not as good as it has been in the past---the steak wasn't very tasty, the accompanying pasta bland, and my companion's prawn souvlaki was mediocre. At least our server was good and prompt.
