  • "Honestly, we picked Mac's from the net...a list of top steak houses on LI. Wanted to try a new place, & it was a convenient pick. But we had a GREAT time! Reservation was at 7; quiet when we got there, and although it got crowded, the volume never rose to a noticeable point. Table service was GREAT, helpful & never pushy. The sommelier was extremely knowledgeable & took some time to chat. As a matter of fact, our party of 4 bought 2 bottles of wine, and our dessert was comped. That wasn't necessary or expected, & has never happened anywhere else we've been. Food was fantastic. We will definitely be going back."

  • "We dined there on a Monday night and to no surprise place was mostly empty. But the food and service were great, as always. Steaks cooked perfectly. Apps and sides were also very good -- and price is reasonable compared to other local high-end steakhouses. Our only issue is that music they pipe into the restaurant is really cheesy Muzak, which is very annoying and distracting. ADVICE TO MANAGMENT -- CHANGE THE MUSIC! Otherwise would be five stars."

  • "This was my second time dining at Mac's. I had made reservations several weeks prior to a birthday for one of my sons. We got seated upstairs, which is like a forgotten land when it comes to service. Waited for at least 15 minutes without our drink order being brought to us. Bread was served, but no bread plates in sight. It took a few minutes more to find a busboy to set up the plates. 5 of us ordered steak, all mid-rare, but one of them, a porterhouse for one, came out mid-well. The waiter didn't come until we were almost all done with our meal. Simply unacceptable for a steakhouse to get steak temperatures so incorrect. The manager did try to bring out a new steak, but the rest of our party were done with the meal."

  • "food awful. Steak unedible. Service terrible. They broke my martini glass with the martini in it and just removed it without telling me. Only replaced upon my request. Menu says 1.5 lobster but it is lobster out of the shell and just a few pieces. Certainly not from one lobster because there were 3 tiny claws and not much else. Almost no discernable lobster in the lobster quesadilla. I called next day and told the manager about our experience and he said he would call me back - but never did. Would never return at any price or with any coupon."

  • "Returned to Mac's for a Friday night dinner. Have been there several times over the past few years and was pleasantly surprised to find the food has gotten even better. The Lobster Quesadillia appetizer was so good and such a generous portion that it could be a main course. Had one of the best veal chops ever -- juicy and flavorful. My husband's bone-in rib eye was large enough to take home for a second meal or it could be shared. The dessert menu could use a remake as they looked rather heavy after a large meat meal so we passed. Prices are equal to those of Long Island's top steak houses but watch for bargains on places like Amazon Local and Groupon. The restaurant was packed on our last visit so be sure to reserve a table."

  • "We have been at Mac's for dinner two times previously and each time we were disappointed with the service. The food was good, but service non-existant. Severs standing around avoiding eye contact. In spite of this, we decided to give it one more try for lunch with friends. Nothing has changed. Food was good, but service non-existant. There was one waitress to handle the whole downstairs and also be the bartender. Can't blame her. The Manager, if he was there, never showed up to see how things were going. They did have a large party upstairs, but it would have been booked ahead of time and management had ample time to staff the downstairs to provide decent service. For a pricey restaurant, they should do much better. We won't be going back."

  • "We have been to Mac's Steakhouse for dinner at least a dozen times , if not more. We have eaten there for quiet romantic dinners, family dinners, birthday and anniversary celebrations, and just dinners with friends. This Saturday night we went to Mac's and it was one of the best dining experiences we've had in a while anywhere. As we entered the manager greeted us by name, the waiters came to say "hello" and, the best part, the food was outstanding!!! Our entire dining experience was perfect!!! From the tomato and mozzarella salad, Mac's Oysters, the Chilean Sea Bass with baby Bok Choy and the 1/2 Duck, EVERYTHING was prepared perfectly!! KUDOS to the Chef!!!! And KUDOS to Mac's Steakhouse!!!! Keep up the EXCELLENT work!!"

  • "We enjoyed our night at Mac's, the highlights were the excellent filet mignon, excellent wine recommendation and atmosphere of the first floor dining area ( second floor was too bright). We ordered the Chilean sea bass but quite frankly it had very little flavor so we returned it, luckily we ordered the 16oz steak which along with the excellent shrimp cocktail and tasty Caesar salad was enough to fill us. The Cappuccino tasted like dirty water and the coffee not much better, but by then we were pretty stuffed and didn't care. The Manager picked out our wine, was very attentive and apologetic about the sea bass. The wait staff was ok."

  • "I made reservations for 8:45 and wasn't seated until about 9:20 with only "sorry" as an excuse and nothing in exchange for my patient waiting. (Free side or free drink maybe? I'm sure if I made a scene I could have gotten one but I'm not that type of person). Other than that, food was good and waiter was punctual. The fresh mozzarella served with tomatoes didn't taste fresh but actually pretty dry. This steakhouse was good, but I've had better. Franks steakhouse and Peter Lugers are a must."

  • "Reservation times mean nothing. We were seated at 8:45 for an 8:00pm reservation as were all other 8 pm guests. No coat check. Bar was too crowded, so most of us stood in the main entrance. Claim was their tables were too large to accommodate all of the couples on Valentines Day and the girl at the front desk was by herself so she could not check coats! For what they charge, not eorth it. There are better options in Huntington"

We had the calamari -which is arguably the best we ever had, House salads - nicely done, skirt steak / NY strip - cooked to perfection and had great flavor, dessert - Apple pie / Cheesecake - BANGINN. Def going again - worth a shot if you haven't been"

We had the Chateaubriand for two, one of the Valentine’s Day specials, and it was cooked exactly as requested. Along with the grilled asparagus and potato au gratin it was an outstanding meal. The ambiance is quiet and relaxing and the service is attentive but not overbearing."

  • "Overall our dining experience was good, but nothing memorable. Our waiter was attentive and professional. I did observe some confusion with the other waitstaff. It appeared they didn't know what table the food was intended for and we were asked twice if a dish was ours when it was not. At one point three of the waitstaff congregated behind us within earshot and were talking loudly. Food was average. My filet mignon, although cooked perfectly on the inside, came seared to the point of being burnt. The creamed spinach was a bit bland. Could have used more seasoning. My advice: train the waitstaff better. No one should be wandering around the dining room with a lost look at their face and a plate of food in their hands."

  • "A coworker suggested this restaurant. I was looking for a quiet, adult evening with good food. I got all of that plus! Service was very quick, attentive and very organized. My husband and I loved the meal from appetizer all the way to our exceptional sweet bread pudding and caramel cheesecake. They have valet parking which is perfect for this area. The mood is very romantic and well set. I will suggest this place to friends and return for another parents night out!"

I had made a reservation mid week for a Saturday night. For reserving so early I was not happy to be sat by a curtain just outside the kitchen. I would not recommend and I will not return to Macs."

  • "The Friday night Surf and Turf special is amazing........I had the lobster bisque (onion soup also available)which was flavorful and had an ample amount of lobster pieces in it. The wedge salad (Caesar salad also part of the special) was large enough to be shared. The filet of beef was perfectly cooked as was the large lobster tail. Bowls of mashed potatoes and creamed spinach complimented the entrees. Dessert and coffee/tea along with rich chocolate cake or creamy cheesecake finish off the meal . I know of no other restaurant that offers a feast like this for $70 a couple. You must ask for the special which is only available on Friday night and is not on the menu."

  • "We really had high hopes due to a nice visit in the past, however: The oysters were overcooked, dried out/hardened My moms sirlion cut was tough and had no flavor & to make her dining experience even more pleasant, the employees kept bumping in to her chair throughout the night to the point where me and my father almost jumped up & clocked them. Lobster quesedillas had way too much gobs of cheese & enough lobster The restaurant was allowing smoking in an enclosed vestibule at the entrance so that smoke would come into the restaurant. On our way out, my family was choking on the cigarette smoke due to the laxed policy and inconsiderate smokers. Too many other better restaurants in the village that we wont need to return to this one"

My one complaint is that the hostess seemed annoyed with having to work on New Year's Eve. But otherwise it was a good experience. I would recommend this restaurant."

  • "Has a varied menu which includes more than just steaks, which of course is their specialty! Good fish options.They had some great a la cart sides which you can either order separately or substitute your sides that come with entree. Bronzini was great, not a large portion but adequate.Cesar salad was good and definitely able to split for two people. I had the black truffle Mac and cheese which was fantastic. Creamed spinach, which generally is a favorite, was just average. Rolls/ bread basket was excellent. Service was very good.well filled wine glass.The dining room is elegant, with lovely paintings of cattle, which were surprisingly nice.There is a separate glass enclosed room, that seats about 10 people- nice for a larger group or party."

  • "Early Sunday dinner. Chopped salad and an asparagus salad - wife raved about the asparagus salad. NY Strip steak was solid, wife's filet was standard. Side of scalloped potatoes with the NY Strip left little to be desired - it looked like it had been sitting in a pan all day, they can do better. Banana Foster for desert was very good. Decent steak joint - two steps below Blackstone, a step below Pace's and P&G. Excellent waiter. There was a young, bald assistant manager or maitre'd bragging to a couple near us that he was let go by Mac's for "beating the sh*t" out of a waiter but was asked to return shortly thereafter because "I make this place what it is." Classy. We'll back but it's not in my top 3 in Huntington."
