MacArthur Park - Palo AltoBBQ Baby BacksWonderful sauce on tender ribs, sweet onion strings downed with fine beer. Attentive, friendly service.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMNice surpriseThough known for its Americana, namely BBQ, I was pleased with the spread of the mom's day brunch buffet. Great selection, and I found that I was drawn to the not-so-traditional items more than to the BBQ. Service was great! Though a child in our room was screaming and her parents chose not to do anything (mother's day excuse?), the meal was far superior to what I was expecting.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant Mother's Day brunchWhile I thought the Father's Day brunch last year was a little better in terms of variety, I still enjoyed my Mother's Day experience this year. The smoked salmon was terrific, along with the BBQ chicken and sweet potato tater tots. Our server was very friendly. All in all we had a really nice time. Very kid friendly as well. Parking can be a hassle.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMbuffets are greatMy review is of the Mother's Day Sunday brunch buffet. A very nice selection of meats and sides. Dessert options were geared toward people who were too full to eat more than a few more bites. For some reason they pipe in music that is some sort of modern pop mix that is really not suitable for a special occasion with elderly moms.
Lastly, I wish you weren't greeted by counter people with panicked looks on their faces as you walk up to give your name. This place specializes in these big reservation-only buffets but they always seem to be on the edge of chaos trying to organize seating. What brings us back is the great food choices, the friendly service, and the nice atmosphere.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMacParkWonderful old building, very open and comfortable which meant noise carried a bit. Service was initially prompt, but on the Saturday night we were there they appeared a bit understaffed as the primary server missed a thing or two and was not around as often as needed. Food was very good, ribs, chicken, veggies, calamari and the fries were amazing. Cheesecake and brownie for dessert capped off a wonderful dining experience.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNotable destinationLove The Historical Aspect Of The Julia Morgan Architectural Design, Right Next To Caltrain Station.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe night that I was thereThe night that I was there there were only about 20 customers so it was very quiet.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMEaster FunOur family really enjoyed our Easter Brunch. Our waiter was outstanding and great with the kids. I really appreciated the staff person who called me at home to confirm My round table for 10 and make sure it's location was agreeable to me. Thank you for the good time.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat FoodWe went to the Easter Sunday brunch and the food went over our expectations. The menu has a nice variety, consistent, and delicious. This was our first time attending a brunch. We will book for next year.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was very good, portionsThe food was very good, portions large and prices reasonably. I would go back again with my family3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe "1918" prime rib dinnerThe "1918" prime rib dinner special should attract all meat eaters--$19.18 for a nice dinner Friday, Saturday and Sunday night--the year the building was constructed. It's a bargain and tasty as well. The menue is exactly what one should expect from a restaurant whose DNA is from barbequed ribs and chicken. Everything is well prepared, attractively presented and ample.
If you're looking for an interesting wine list, this isn't my favorite place. Everything is from California. Maybe Faz is making a statement on his preferences, but they do not match mine. Variety would have been nice.2/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
