  • "ALWAYS look forward to having dinner at Macarena Tapas in Naperville, IL. The food is amazing and the service couldn't be better. Love this place."

  • "We went for a celebration dinner and as always it was phenomenal! It was my fourth visit to Macarena Tapas and I've never been disappointed in food or service! I would recommend it to anyone looking for good food and nice people in a cozy restaurant!"

  • "I can't believe this place was under our nose and out of sight. My wife and I are always trying to find good places to go on date night that aren't chains and this place was awesome. The tapas selection was varied; plenty of options for every taste. The food was well-plated and tasted fantastic! We had red sangria. It was a bit pricey for our liter, but not out of typical range for Spanish tapas. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. The place is bit cramped and it is very easy to hear other people's conversations. We were lucky in the fact we got a nice two-top table on the other side of the bar divider which felt cozier and more private than other tables. Bottom Line: Highly Recommended!"

  • "This was about our 6th visit here and as always left completely satisfied! I stumbled upon this quaint gem on Open Table and I am always looking for an excuse to go back. Service is friendly and quick and the food is delicious! Our latest faves are the Croquetas de queso de cabra(goat cheese fritters), bacon wrapped dates(best we've had anywhere) and solomillo en tostada just to name a few....give them a try you won't be disappointed ...but don't tell too many people so there's still room for us!"

  • "I will keep this short...for a Spanish Tapas bar the Red Sangria was gross....the margarita tasted like i ordered a glass of sweet sour on ice...the dates wrapped in bacon was so sweet it should have been a dessert....the meatballs tasted like processed beef...the plantains were very good but the cheese on it was only partially melted...the garlic potato salad was overpowered with mayonnaise...they need to take some lessons from Mason Sabika down the road, on how to do Tapas...btw it was not very busy so that can't be an excuse....the atmosphere was nice...they have potential here but the quality of food and drink needs to improve.."

  • "Macarena is delicious, creative tapas. I go there with my wife on special occassions, and really, whenever we want tapas. Menu items change frequently and there is a lot to choose from so it always feels new. I have never had a bad dish in all my time there. It is a small restaurant, so I strongly recommend reservations, or you might have to wait."

  • "Food was incredible! The staff was very friendly. It is a small gem, tucked away in a strip mall. Upon entering you feel transported to a small Spanish bar. Really a delightful discovery."

  • "My daughter and I visited Macrarena's for the first time, and thought it was great! We shared 5 different tapas selections and they were all wonderful. Favorite one was the Goat Cheese croquettes....don't miss out on trying these...super yummy! Victor was our waiter and he was lots of fun and also prompt in his service."

  • "The food was good but they appeared to be out of wine this was surprising but we still had a very good meal."

  • "Undoubtably, my favorite restaurant. The food is amazing and the service is fantastic,"
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "We loved the food and the sangria was awesome! The restaurant is very small, though, with a lot of tables crammed into the space. People were bumping into us (and we into others) throughout the meal and I was wedged up against a wall. I would not recommend this restaurant for large parties or small children because it's just too tight a squeeze. I would recommend the owners remove a few tables!"

  • "Macarena Tapas has the most delicious, most elegantly presented, and best-served food that I have ever eaten. The quality of the ingredients is second to none. Their servers are always polite, attentive without being bothersome, and remember their loyal customers. I cannot over emphasize the greatness of eating here. Our table was waiting for us even though inclement weather had slowed our travel a few minutes passed our reservation time. Within moments of sitting down our pre-meal bread was served warm, obviously made moments before. Our main courses were brought back to back to back to back."

  • "We adore Marcerena Tapas! Very consistent and great people and service. Food is delicious and always fresh! Owner is so personable. We have this restaurant in our regular rotation - you must make reservations pretty much always!!"

  • "The food was delicious and so many choices between hot and cold tapas. Try not to get a window seat in the winter, because it got a bit cold; however the ambience was great. We will certainly be going back."

  • "I highly recommed this place ... Especially for couples. Our server recommendation were so good. Good food, Excellent presentation and Flan to die for :-)"

  • "We had a great dinner there and were pleased to try this new restaurant as we usually eat tapas at Mason Sabika in Naperville. Though our service got off to a slow start as we weren't greeted for at least 10 minutes, the service throughout dinner made up for it. The two of us tried 6 tapas and our favorites were the goat cheese croquets and bacon wrapped dates. The crab cakes were nothing special - not very hot and tasted rather "fishy." Other than that, everything we ate was good and we will be back for more! The atmosphere is charming - on a weekend night, the restaurant was full, lively, and on the darker side. It did not feel like dining in a strip mall near an Olive Garden!"

  • "The food is excellent and the wait staff tries hard to keep on top of the service, but it was substandard. They apologized a few times because two people had not shown up for work on a busy Saturday night, so I understand some delays. But, the servers need to remember what people ordered and check on progress without being asked. I'll still give it another try due to the food and the friendliness of the people running the restaurant."

  • "Great restaurant for foodies looking for a place that isn't a chain, not a burger or Italian. The tapas is the best in Naperville and I love the ambience which reminds me of places in the city of Chicago. I would highly recommend the restaurant and make sure to make a reservation seating is limited."

  • "Macarena Tapas has been our favorite area restaurant since we discovered shortly after its opening. Every visit is superb. The food cannot be beat and I often find myself craving some of my favorite dishes if it has been too long since my last visit. Service is great and the staff is always friendly!"

  • "This restaurant is in a strip mall and hard to see from the street, but definitely worth looking for. Everything we ordered was excellent - from the spinach salad to the chocolate fritters. We will go back soon."

  • "Fun spot for a girls night. Lots of interesting tapas to sample great presentation"

  • "The food is wonderful and our server was excellent. The restaurant is a bit small and dark. It is too loud to carry on a conversation."

  • "I would not have discovered this gem if not for OpenTable. I reserved an 830 pm dinner on a Friday for 4. Only a limited # of tables available...very quaint. 2 other families were present when we arrived...snow forecasted & freezing temps that evening. The server was engaged and attentive throughout our dinner. We ordered asparagus, beef, tilapia, chicken & dessert. In about 10 minutes, the asparagus arrived followed shortly by each of the dishes in regular intervals. We were treated to the chocolate fritters...a nice surprise in the mouth and a wonderful finishing touch to our dinner. Every dish had a unique taste...not too salty...not overpowering...an adventure and delight for the taste buds. Pleasant change from Italian or Chinese food."

  • "Food is outstanding! Victor is great. This is by far my favorite restaurant."

  • "They never disappoint! Victor is a fabulous owner/server and treats us like we are in his home eating. The food is phenomenal, especially the potates bravas and bacon wrapped dates. The apple and iced cream dessert is by far the best I've ever had. This place is so great we will always come back. The selection of wine is wonderful."

  • "Restaurant is small with minimal tables. Not for groups nor meetings. FOOD was EXCELLENT. "Garde manger" style as you order multiple food courses. Service was very good. Multiple imported wines, beers & liquor. Great for 2 to 4 person lunch or dinner. Strong Spanish food influence. Deep fried cheese balls with honey and vinegar & mushrooms stuffed with apple as a must have. We will definitely attend again on next visit to Chicago area."

  • "I've been here several times and love the whole tapas concept...it's fun to share the unique dishes, I love the decor and what they did with your basic strip mall store front! The service is always attentive."

  • "Let me start by saying that I love Macarena Tapas. But that might soon be "loved." I have been to Macarena 5 or 6 times in the past ten months. On my two most recent visit, things seemed to have changed for the worse. For example, the bread we were served the other night was rock-hard, and instead of having a bottle of olive oil on the table they brought out little packs of butter--the kind you would expect at a diner or a chain restaurant. When we asked for olive oil, they did bring out a little saucer of olive oil, but didn't leave the bottle. We overheard the people next to us say to each other, "Why didn't we get olive oil?" That is just one example of a "little thing" that makes a big difference, especially to regular customers."

  • "Tapas selection was good and everything we ordered was good - sangria was tasty - but operationally needs tuning - had a reservation but still waited 45 minutes to be seated just like those who walked in - service was also slow but seemed it was not due to waiter but rather they had the waiter trying to cope with too many tables - he appeared to be doing yeoman's labor, he just had too much to cope with"

  • "My wife and I enjoyed our evening. House made raspberry Sangria was very tasty. We had a huge Spinach salad which we couldn't finish. The scallops and crab cake tapas were very tasty. Finished off the meal with bacon wrapped dates and the house specialty goat cheese fritters. Best tapas restaurant in Naperville."

  • "First time to visit for a birthday with family (my kids and significant others) are mostly all 20-something and all (my wife and I are a couple of years older) had an outstanding. Particularly if heading out with a larger group I strongly recommend Macarena."

  • "I'd seen the restaurant before as I drove by but never tried it until I checked out the favorable reviews online. I love tapas type restaurants and wanted to try something new. We loved every dish we ordered and our server was so helpful and friendly. I went the day before my birthday and missed out on their birthday discount but I'll definitely return and bring others."

  • "We love this little hole in the strip mall (just referring to its size...nothing truly disparaging intended!). While the location is inconvenient as heck for access from the street (any street!) and the ambiance of a strip mall is not its selling point, Macarena more than makes up for it with the quality and diversity of its dishes...all the way through the dessert course (which we have observed in our numerous tapas experiences is not often the strongest course!). The tapa here are second to none in the city and I mean Chicagoland, not just Naperville, where it easily is second to none (including its much more famous competition). Go here, try their more unusual sounding dishes...they may sound bizarre (popcorn soup?) but they WORK!"

  • "The tapas are very, very good! The goat cheese tapas were delightful! We also liked the crab cake tapas, the beef empanadillas, and the scallops. The chocolate Grenache dessert was fantastic! All in all a great meal, albeit a little pricey for the amount do food served."

  • "This was our first experience, and we are definitely going back. We had five small plates, and all were extremely good. I highly recommend both the Spanish-style BBQ pork and the goat cheese on toast with artichokes and jalapeños. We also enjoyed the drinks--I had a mango sangria and my wife had a caipirinha that she thought was the best she's had anywhere. The service was friendly and the food was out very quickly after we ordered. Dinner was definitely not cheap, but well worth the price."

  • "Love, love , love Macarena Tapas. The food is great, the service outstanding and the atmosphere is romantic and intimate. Go early on the weekends unless you want to wait...but it is definitely worth the wait."

  • "This restaurant was so noisey that it was impossible to have a conversation with my dinner partners. It's a small room with approx 15 tables. So one party of 10 dominated the room and ruined our evening. Menu was interesting and food was very good. Service was marginally attentive. I would like to try again but doubt I would based on upon the noise level."

  • "Cute place and great food. We were a group of 5 and shared 8 or so tapas- all were very good. I suggest for those who like a big hearty meal to get the paella rather than just tapas. I tried the pina-coco sangria- sweet and tasty! Service was a bit slow-we were there at 7pm on a Saturday night, which is a busy night for restaurants."
