Diner Reviews
  • "I went here for Sunday brunch with my boyfriend. We had a cute corner booth, so we could sit closely together. The restaurant is swanky with an upscale ambience. It would also be fun for a group of ladies, not looking for the typical party brunch. Also... the mimosas are strong and yummy!"

  • "I was disappointed to discover that due to July 4th weekend, their menu was cut nearly in half, without notice on their website. My husband and I came in expecting certain menu items and were very disappointed."

  • "One person in my party has celiac's disease and cannot eat gluten. Before making the reservation she called the restaurant to ask about their gluten free brunch options. She was told that they had a separate gluten free menu and that it would not be a problem to accommodate her dietary needs. However our waiter at first told us there were no gluten free options, then when we insisted he go ask a manager or the chef, he said only one entree was gluten free. He didn't ask about the appetizers or desserts so we had to send him back to ask again. His English was not the best so there may have been a communication issue. He also told us he had a larger party in a different section which I think was his excuse for not serving us often."

  • "Came here for brunch, and am now recommending it to all my friends! Three courses plus bottomless mimosas for $24.95. Couldn't ask for a better deal. The food was all delicious, and the portions were huge! Our waitress was very attentive and friendly, and servers kept the mimosas flowing! Perfect for weekend brunch."

  • "We really enjoyed our food, service and ambiance. Is a very nice restaurant"

  • "The food was all really great. I got the omelette, berry salad and chocolate mousse. Also, the mimosas were very good even though they were pre-mixed. Our waiter was awesome and very fast at re-filling our mimosas (mine never got below half-full). The noise level was good, not too loud or too quiet. We were seated on the upper level and not by the piano, so I'd request this area for seating."

  • "The recently opened patio was fantastic. Great for dates. The lamb kabob and caprese small plates were both great and went well with our Bottle of Riesling. A perfect summer spot in Dupont."

  • "I threw a surprise birthday brunch for my boyfriend in a Sunday. The staff was most hospitable considering the majority of our party was late due to road blocks and traffic from the holiday weekend. Sue was our server and took excellent care of us. Will definitely come back!"

  • "Brunch Cost Overpriced - $34.00 - Normally $29.00 No Music - Normally has music for Sunday Brunch Service was slow with few customers (between 2pm & 3:30pm)"

  • "Went here for the 3 course brunch and bottomless drinks for $25. Service was absolutely amazing and the waiter would refill our mimosas every few sips. We went with a group and everyone was extremely pleased with the food. Dessert menu is limited, but recommend the chocolate mousse. Af for entrees, many great options and all very well prepared. Very accommodating to diet and meal preferences. Great weekend brunch! "

  • "I've been here before and had wonderful service. This time, however was a much different experience. We were siting down stairs where the bartender is also the server. When we got there it took over 10 minutes for him to come take our drink order. At that point he took our food orders as well. After going to enter everything he went and took anther table'a food orders. This table already had drinks. Our first course was served before our drinks made it to us. From there on out service for even worse. Toom forever to get refills and he even forgot to bring us stuff we had asked for. I'm not sure I'll ever return to this restaurant. "

  • "They do not hand you a kid menu, but they do have kid meals. You just have to ask. Our waiter was AWESOME! Food was great, everything was great! It was our last dinner in DC, and I'm happy it was here. Definitely going back our next visit!"

  • "I came here with two others for brunch, restaurant has a few levels and were on the street level which was nice. It seemed like there was only 1 waiter serving out entire level, so food service was a bit slow. He did come around on a regular basis to refill our champagne glasses so we were fine waiting. When the food did come out it was excellent. I had the breakfast burrito and my friends got the full American breakfast. There were no complaints on that end, and I had the chocolate mousse for dessert it was quite nice but def not a traditional mousse. This was more life whipped cream with chocolate flecks, but still tasty! Overall for $25 you get bottomless mimosas, an appetizer, entree and dessert so it's a good deal! "

  • "I chose this restaurant for my birthday dinner with a group of 16. Most of us ordered the Monday half price burger and everyone likesd the food. I liked the cocktail I ordered too. I brought in a whole cake from outside and the restaurant served it with very good service. The restaurant is inside St. Gregory hotel so has nice and luxury atmosphere but the food is reasonable at all. Good location from work too. There is a small bar and I would use for a couple dinner and lunch too."

  • "I went here because I was celebrating my birthday with about 8 of my friends. They were very accommodating when it came to the large group. The atmosphere was great and the waiter kept our glasses filled with mimosas throughout the brunch. The only negative thing was that most of us ordered the chicken and waffles, but there was a malfunction with the waffle maker and some folks ended up getting pancakes instead, which to me defeats the purpose of chicken and WAFFLES. Also the waffle was cold so that bothered me. In their defense the last time I went there with just me and my boyfriend, the chicken and waffles were hot and delicious. So it could've just been prime time.Def recommend!!! Fav brunch spot of all time!"

  • "M Street took very good care of my large group and everything worked out well. Table was happy with the drinks and food. It was difficult that we couldn't split the checks but understand why it can't be done."

  • "One of us ordered the Shrimp & Grits, which was very good & the other the Eggs Benedict, which was just OK....used deli ham instead of Canadian bacon & the breakfast potatoes were hard with an overwhelming rosemary seasoning. Wish they had offered the yummy grits instead. The basket of pastries were nice, but cold; even a slight heating would have made them delicious. Overall, this was a good brunch with generous pourings of sparkling wine, etc. However, we were guests at the hotel & discovered the next day that we should have been offered a $3.00 discount per person."

  • "Took a group of eight from work and it was a beautiful table they gave us. Also, everyone said their meal was excellent. I didn't like the dumpling soup, it was pure garlic. But the vegetable panini was great and the rolls they serve were delicious."

  • "we had a table of eight people and although the restaurant was busy we had to wait TWO HOURS for our food…. once we realized how busy the waitress seemed to be, we decided to order drinks/apps/food at the same time. the apps came out in a timely manner and then it took literally two hours for our dinner to come. during this two hours another table of seven say down, ordered their food, got their food, ate their food, and left. I'm not sure why are food took so long but we were also given no reason and just simple statements like "your food should be out in a second.." multiple times. Good food, but not worth the wait."

  • "My group of four made a 2:15 reservation for the Sunday brunch. Two of us arrived just before 2:15, with the other two were running behind because of the bad weather. Right when we sat down we were served drinks (not given the option of champagne--just mimosas are offered), and greeted warmly. A couple minutes later the manager came up to us and said the last time to order food is 2:15 because we have to leave at 3pm. We were a bit taken aback by this, because why would they allow us to make a 2:15 reservation if that is the last time the kitchen can take an order? Even if we all were there by 2:15 (the others arrived at 2:20), we would need time to look over the menu. We ended up calling our friends and ordering for them over the phone..."

  • "This place was wonderful to accommodate my party of 20. Small enough to never be looked over but enough room to feel comfortable. Dan was my server and he was great. Could not have asked for more from this place. My NY strip was cooked perfectly and paired with broccolini and mashed potatoes. I'm Going back for brunch and def bringing a date here. Also this place has an AMAZING drink list. 3/4 drink ranging in price from $5-$12 bucks."

  • "This is really a great place for lunch if you are interested in having a conversation. The noise level is quite low. The accomodations are comfortable and attractive, and the service is attentive, but not intrusive. The food is quite decent as well."

  • "I WANTED TO CELEBRATE MY BIRTHDAY WITH YOU. This was my first time back to your restaurant in a few years and the Sunday Jazz Brunch experience was delightful. My friend and I want to come back in a few weeks for either Sunday brunch again or your happy hours/. The food, the setting and the music were perfect."

  • "The restaurant was very nice about taking a large group of 11 with only a 3 day advance reservation. The restaurant is very attractive inside and our server was very professional, friendly and accommodating. I enjoyed the fish soup and the lox benedict very much and most of my friends liked their food, although a couple complained that theirs arrived cold. Dessert is not their strong point."

  • "I selected this restaurant for my birthday brunch, and i'm so glad that I did! The food was delicious, and they had vegetarian options all the way down the menu which was a nice change! I did the prix-fixe 3 course option with unlimited Mimosas, at no point did I have to ask for a refill. Josh kept our glasses full the entire time we were there :). We were there far longer than i anticipated, yet we never felt rushed! I will definitely be returning to this restaurant. I've also heard they have great happy hours during the week!"

  • "Some friends and I decided to take advantage of President's Day laziness and meet up for lunch and M Street Bar and Grill hit the spot. The food was delicious, definitely try the quinoa salad with protein of your choice, and the service was very attentive. I'll be adding the restaurant to my dining rotation permanently!"

  • "the ambiance was surprisingly nice. the service was excellent. i got a waldorf salad, lobster tail and chocolate brownie dessert this past valentine's day. the salad was very good. the lobster was chewy and dry (sauce was good) and the dessert was dry/stale. but the price, ambiance and excellent service made up for the lacking in some of the freshness of the food."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "The menu offered was not as advertised. There was a much more limited selection then posted online. The food we selected was good though, and the location convenient, but the server was mildly obnoxious."

  • "M Street Bar & Grill provided the perfect atmosphere for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner with my spouse. They were very flexible with my reservation, making changes on my schedule. The staff was quite attentive and responsive to our needs. Each course was brought out at the right time, and the drinks were replenished as needed without asking. As first timer at this restaurant, the overall this was quite a wonderful dining experience, so don't let the "Bar & Grill" moniker fool you, it is far removed from that."
