  • "what a find - this is a great place to eat, relax and converse"

  • "My party consisted of six people, and everyone was very pleased with their food. A person in our group lives close to this restaurant, but did not know about it. This person said she would be back and would be bringing her family. Also, our waiter was very upbeat and friendly, which helped our group to break the ice and start talking. In all it was a very enjoyable experience."

  • "Great food and service. We had a working lunch and our waitress was great about working with us. The food was wonderful and the service excellent."

  • "This is an overlooked restaurant for lunch. They have a very interesting and innovative menu and buffet - which is unusual. It's easy to get good food and get in and out quickly for a business or lunch meeting."

  • "Excellent Sunday Brunch, good place for lunch. I recommend reservations."

  • "The St. Paul Hotel is full of old world charm. Dining at M St. Cafe is no exception. I felt grand just even walking down to the cafe. Even though my reservations for brunch with old friends were for 30 minutes before the cafe closed on Saturday, all the staff was very attentive and pleasant. All parties enjoyed their meals of omelets and swedish pancakes. Modifications were easily accommodated. Our waitress was very sweet and remained energetic, even at the end of her shift. It was very very quiet as there were only a couple other tables in the cafe at the time. I would like to try Sunday brunch or weekday lunch."

  • "My first visit excellent brunch good service."The smoked salmon makes the brunch" M St. smoked salmon was excellent I'm told they smoke it in house."

  • "We reserved an early morning table for breakfast and had a very nice experience. My breakfast omelete was good, but my husband was very disappointed in the corned beef hash! Our server was very attentive; we always enjoy visiting The Saint Paul Hotel. Perhaps next time we will try the brunch buffet."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "The host was very caring and accommodating when we needed accessible seating for a family member with knee issues. The service was excellent and the breakfast food was very tasty. A great place for a quiet, tasty breakfast with great service."

  • "this was our second visit to M Street Cafe for Sunday brunch, and likely will not be our last! The food, environment, and service are all outstanding!"

  • "My daughter and I had lunch on a day of doing college visits. The wild rice soup is definitely the best I have ever had. The sauce for the Fish Tacos was excellent. Our waitress, did not get her name, was a super nice woman from Malaysia"

  • "I love breakfast meetings. I get some food to start my day and also tackle a meeting. M ST. Cafe is the best venue in Saint Paul for this to happen. You are in The Saint Paul Hotel, enjoy a great tasting breakfast menu with delicious and health-conscious items, and have one-of-a-kind service. When I want to impress, I step up above the rest and bring my clients to M ST. Cafe."

  • "My husband and I went to M St. Cafe for brunch over Memorial Day Weekend and it was delicious. You can build your own omelets, there are a ton of desserts to choose from, there's a hot station with prime rib (so good!), potatoes, veggies, waffles, eggs benedict, etc. and a cold station with salad, fruits, salmon, cocktail shrimp and more. And you can tell everything was fresh too, not old and dry from sitting out in a buffet too long. I'd definitely go back here!"

  • "LOVE M. Street Cafe! Food is always great and they have a daily buffet at a great price with rotating menu items. Great place for a business lunch."

  • "Everything was very good, but not great. Smoked salmon had condiments, but there were no toast points to be found. Shrimp were good, but not thoroughly rinsed. Skimpy prime rib portions. .. you get the picture. Good, but not great. "

  • "Best place in Twin Cities for brunch, food, ambience, value and service, especially service. No wonder! It's located in the award winning, historic and lovely St Paul Hotel. Our favorite restaurant for brunch for two, four or a small group. The buffet style first course with smoked salmon, shrimp cocktail, fresh fruit and green salad and soup is outstanding! Ditto the various egg offerings, including made to order omelets, the always excellent roast beef with a choice of rare to med rare to med well done, the side dishes which are always tasty with fresh sauteed veggies always available and chicken and/or fish always included. The dessert table offers a selection of mouth watering pastries, mousses, cremes and cakes. We visited 4/06/14"

  • "Just thought at $25 price point was very average quality of good Server was very nice. Ambiance I don't know felt like we were in a church basement having a very simple meal."

  • "The salad bar was good, the prime rib was great. Do not take the Eggs Benedict, they sit out way too long. The service was the worst ever. For the price the experience left us questioning why we chose this venue. The clincher was the bad service. We love the St Paul Grill but will never do brunch at M Street."

  • "Charming classic ambience in St. Paul Hotel. Less frantic than St. Paul Grille. Comfortable, great lunch spot."
    Dined on 3/25/2014
  • "You can't go wrong at M Street - breakfast, lunch and Sunday Brunch are all terrific. Sideboard options for lunch are great. The Fried Egg Sandwich is the best in the universe. The restaurant is relatively quiet, so this is a great place for a business meeting or for conversation. All the quality of the St Paul Grill with reasonable prices and a more intimate atmosphere."
    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "Visited on St. Patrick's Day when the sideboard featured braised corned beef, salmon, cabbage, carrots, potatoes and more! The food was warm and delicious, perfectly prepared."

  • "We enjoyed lunch at M St. Cafe after a morning concert at the Ordway Theater. The M St. Cafe is just a short walk from the Ordway in the lower level of the St. Paul Hotel, which also houses the St. Paul Grill. There was a variety of lunch offerings, including good salads, sandwhiches and more. We split two offerings: a grilled chicken sandwhich with melted swiss cheese on a pretzel bun and the M St. Chopped Salad. Plus, we each ordered a cup of wild rice soup. All of our choices were delicious. We had intended to split a dessert but did not have room for that. Our server was prompt and made sure our beverages glasses were refilled. An enjoyable lunch."

  • "The M ST Cafe is a downtown gem. Located in the lower level of the historic Saint Paul Hotel, it is a welcoming and sophisticated lunch spot. A bit upscale yet affordable. Great staff - delicious food. You can't go wrong eating here."

  • "We made reservations for 10am before the hockey tournament and had a great brunch to get us through the day!"

  • "A chronic issue with this restaurant is the slow service. Each time we come here to eat it takes forever for us to get our food, when there doesn't seem to be any good reason for it. The young man who served water was very polite however."

  • "M Street a Cafe is a convenient downtown St. Paul restaurant in the basement of the St. Paul Hotel. It lacks the foodie vibe of the restaurants that come and go in St. Paul, and it lacks the busy sophistication of the St. Paul Grille upstairs. I like it for both these reasons. It is a comfortable place to have lunch with a friend without breaking your budget. Lunch specials are just the right size, small enough to allow room for one of their $2, two bite desserts. The creme brûlée was delicious. One of my favorite cozy St. Paul experiences."

  • "M Street Cafe offers a wonderful spot for brunch on the LL of the Saint Paul Hotel. Everything from omelets, waffles, prime rib, salmon, fresh fruit and greens to yummy desserts. A perfect spot for brunch lovers!"

  • "The food was good, not one of those crazy buffets with everything under the sun. More focused, with high quality, fresh food. Service was good when we sat down. We had a party of 9. We were surprised that (a) basic beverages such as coffee and tea were an extra charge and (b) that they put an automatic 18% gratuity on the check. If it had been a full service restaurant that would have made sense, but not for a buffet. The St. Paul Hotel is a beautiful, classic place and we're lucky to have it going strong in St. Paul!"
