M Restaurantgreat meal, great foodWe arrived early because we had tickets to an 8:00 PM show. We were sat inside, but moved outside upon our request when drinks arrived. It was mostly empty when we arrived, but had a nice crowd by 7:00.
House made Tonic for the gin was fabulous, and the food was top notch as we expect from Mitchell.

It certainly did not disappoint. The staff, as in all his other restaurants, is extremely courteous and knowledgeable. It is clear that people enjoy working there and that taking care of guests is the top priority. Because we often visit our daughter in NYC, we find ourselves comparing fine Columbus restaurants with those in Manhattan and Brooklyn. CameronMitchell's restaurants, especially M, compare very favorably with those world reknown places. For those who enjoy a nice cocktail that menu was fantastic. I also loved the ambiance. It was a very clean and soft feeling restaurant. The food continues to be fairly average, in my experience. The sea bass was good but not outstanding. However, one chooses a venue for more than the food and when ambiance is considered, M is still one of the very few (painfully few) choices in Columbus to enjoy a satisfying dining experience. The decor is pleasing; however, the white curtains do deter from a more open view to the outside and the bright white is a bit stark. I'm not sure of the purpose of the cloth. M's menu seems to have a nice variety for everyone's taste, wine list is above par and the mixed drinks ( we only ordered one, the marquee, and it was delicious) but I'm sure the rest are just great.
1st visit we had the Halibut and salmon, king crab ( I think this is their signature dish) they were all delicious. Staff is very friendly and the location has a contemporary look and you can even eat at their balcony area. perfect for a romantic dinner.
I will definitely go back, M has escalated to my #1 restaurant in Cbus.

We had a very pleasant special occasion evening. We have two complaints. We were seated at a round table which was surounded by a curtain. The tablecloth was not ironed and the white curtain was filthy. I tried to not look at it but it didn't work. At a restaurant of this level, attention to detail is very important. Has roses on our table. Our waitress was excellent. I wish I remembered her name but she was one of the best servers I've ever had. We had the scallops for a starter-amazing. I had the apple salad next. It was delicious although larger than I'd hoped. We both ordered the steak in a bowl entree. Both were cooked to perfection. The sauce in the bottom was very good yet very rich. There were a few thinly slices fingerling potatoes in the bowl. Not really enough to be considered a side. We were surprised our waitress didn't offer a side. A couple of the appetizers were outstanding (foie gras and pork belly on lentils is a highlight). The main courses we had were well executed but not perfect. For instance, the salmon entree was perfectly cooked with a nice tomato pesto on top. However, the gnocchi accompanying the salmon were chewy and had clearly sat around for too long. I wont go into the whole story but due to a miscommunication the staff let us walk out without the bill being paid (it was being covered by our friends). Our friends did get back and pay later but the fact that they didnt want to spoil our evening and could have potentially lost money but never said anything is a testament to customer service. The veal is out of this world. My wife has food allergies and they took care of it without a hitch. The cocktails were delicious - between the 3 of us we tried the Black Orchid, Vanilla Old Fashioned, and a Vodka Tonic (made with their homemade tonic water) - and each of them got rave reviews; I copied the Old Fashioned's ingredients so I can try to make it when I get home. We ordered the Pork Chop, Steak Bowl, and Lamb; each of them was cooked to our server's recommendations and each plate was cleaned. The Pork Chop was the biggest piece I have seen in my life and was so delicous.
