M Bistro & Wine Bar was our favorite restaurant in Richmond, Virginia. My wife and I loved to go as a couple and with friends. We especially loved the special menu items and themes created by Chef Michael. We were sad to hear the restaurant closed and it will be a loss to Richmond's dining experience.

While we were dining I heard our server tell another couple that the limoncello cake was available that evening so I asked our server to see if he could save us 2 slices. That he did! As our delicious and empty plates were whisked away, 2 slices of that wonderful cake were delivered. Wonderful food wonderful service!

I went there for the first time on New Year's eve after friends suggested I try it. I had to wait an extra 15 minutes to get a table (even though I had a reservation and the restaurant was less than half full), the waiter for my area never came to my table to check on me and I eventually had to ask the hostess if there was for my table at which point she had to bring my menu and water to my table. Once we did get a wait staff to come to our table he never apologized for "overlooking" the fact we were seated in his area and that they were "extremely" busy - yeah, right! The menu for the night was limited and the food was cold and unappetizing. This was my first and last visit and I will not be recommending this restaurant to any one else

We were on time for our reservations at 8:30. The place was only half full. It took 30+ minutes for our drinks. They were out of the first two wines I chose... It's a "wine bar" why are they out of wine? So then we order dinner from the special New Years Eve menu. $65 per person and very limited choices. The server couldn't answer the questions about the food or the wine. After waiting over an hour for our first course, we paid our check with cash(knew not to give her the task of different cards because that may take another half hour). We all have worked in food service before so this was a first for us. Bottom line. Food sounded great(expensive) I wish we could have tried it. But the service is so horrible that we will never be back.

Everything we ordered was amazing! Seared sea bass was a nice mix of sweet, savory and spicy. Every bite provided new delicious flavor. The chicken was also perfectly smoked. The food was so good in fact that, despite living on the other side of town, we plan to head back soon!

My lady and I enjoyed the ambience, food and service at the M Bistro. The wine selection was nice but a limited (by glass) selection. Appetizers and main courses were very limited but what we had was delicious. I recommend the M Bistro, and hope they expand their entree selection as time goes by.

My wife and I have eaten at M Bistro several times, and have had a very good experiences during each visit. While the service was very good, and most of the food was delicious, the filet mignon that I received had a large layer of fat around half of the steak. The rest of the steak was just fine, but with the overall presentation of food always very good, I was surprised that this dish made it to our table. I let the server know (when she returned after most of the steak had been eaten), but asked only to inform the chef.

M Bistro has everything going for it except for the service. Both times my husband and I have gone, it has been horrible. We have had to remind them that we actually ordered dinner and to bring it before breakfast time. Last week I took a big group. We were the only ones in the restaurant and were still served a good 1 1/2 hr after we ordered. And 45 mins after ordering, 3 of us were told the dish we ordered had ran out…despite there being no one else there! Other than the service being better pretty much anywhere else you go (including diners), the food was great and ambiance wonderful. You guys really need to figure this out because we're not going back until you do!

Went to M Bistro for brunch for a birthday celebration. We had a large party and even though it took a while for us all to arrive, the restaurant was very accommodating. Our server was greatly informed on the menu and was able to make several dish recommendations. At the table we had the following dishes: shrimp & grits, eggs benedict with crab cake, elegant eggs, open faced smoked salmon sandwich, southern french toast and the lobster roll. All plates were scraped clean. Everything was delicious! Between the awesome service and the amazing food, I most certainly will be visiting M Bistro again soon.

My chicken was so salty that it was inedible. When I told the waitress, she said "oh". I should have asked for something else, but her response threw me off. She still charged me too, even though when she cleared the table my entire entrée was still on my plate. My husband and I have been there several times, but we're not going back.

This gave us a great opportunity to try new menu items and see what we like. All the choices were absolutely delicious, well prepared and had great sauces to accompany them. I am not sure what is going on with this restaurant everything was off, food and service. The food we received was not cooked properly and the taste was weird, for example if something was to come with balsamic vinegar it tased more like malt vinegar. Had to ask for bread twice before we got it, received it about an hour into our meal. Needless to say we will not be returning to this restaurant, way to many other great restaurants in Richmond!

No doubt about it the place is nice and new, from the kitchen to the furniture to the decor. The color choices and the "wine bar" leave a lot to be desired. Improving the layout and the view towards the bar and kitchen would appeal to foodies and wine lovers alike. I feel the 25.13 was well worth 3 courses from executive chef Michael Hall any day. However after reviewing the regular menu I won't be in a hurry to go back, prices are above other restaurants of this caliber. I'd like to see the menu tweaked to get the entrees down about 5-7 dollars a plate and then I would be happy to return for another dining experience. My lamb was good with the sauce but borderline tough. I could tell it finished to medium well and my starch was cold.

We went to M Bistro & Wine Bar for Richmond Restaurant Week. We always like to try out a new place, and were very happy with our choice. The noise level was perfect. We had a group of six and were able to hear each other without having to yell. The waitress was very helpful. We did not order wine, but the wine and mixed drink looked very extensive. The food was fabulous. I could have made a whole meal out of an order or two of the flatbread appetizer. My scallops were perfect, and my husband's shrimp and grits in a tomato-based sauce were amazing. That was a new and really creative combination. The funnel cake strawberry shortcake dessert was another creative and delicious menu choice.

I went to M Bistro with my fiancee for an anniversary dinner. It also happened to be restaurant week. There were only 2 waitresses in the restaurant, therefore they were very busy. However, it did not give an explanation of why we received our entree at 8:40 when we were seated at 6:50. Our appetizer came around 7:30 which causes for a long time to just sit. I don't know if it was our luck of the night to have that wait, or if it is normally that way. On a brighter note the food was amazing....just wish the service had matched. Even if the waitress or chef had come out to apologize or at least acknowledge our long wait time, it would have made it a little more enjoyable of an experience.

We visited M Bistro with a coupon deal on a Thursday night. There was just us and another table of 2 people in the whole restaurant. There was no soup of the day. No special of the day. They had none of their signature crab cakes that I really wanted. I cannot see how this restaurant can stay open with no patrons and no food! The only good part of the experience was the waitress who was very nice and very apologetic. Of course...she could be very attentive with no one else in the restaurant. Glad I went on a coupon deal that was half price. I would never pay full price for this restaurant.

This was our first visit to M Bistro but it won't be our last. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic. It's one of the few times where I could have easily ordered anything on the menu and been very happy. There was a large event going on in half of the restaurant but it wasn't intrusive on the rest of the dining room. Even though our waiter had a large number of tables to serve, he did everything he could to make sure we were happy. He was knowledgeable and professional. I'm truly pleased we discovered M Bistro.

I ordered the mint chocolate cheesecake for dessert. It was divine! In addition to the food, the service was wonderful. Our waitress was very polite and attentive, but she did not rush us through our meal. I highly recommend M Bistro's dinner and brunch as well. You won't be disappointed!
