The food was great, the service not so much. We were basically the only table there at the time and our server was MIA most of the meal. Our water glasses never got refilled after first . time. Not Impressed!

This was one of our favorite restaurants, they had quiet tables in the back and a good lobster/steak special on Sundays and Mondays. Fortunately, MCCormicks and Schmicks has the special too and is a nice place on the plaza.

We don't live in Kansas City, but had child in college nearby, so have eaten on Plaza many times. This was 2nd visit to M&S because we enjoyed 1st dinner there. Review is only "good" rather than very good--a mixed review. We had drinks & appetizers in the bar, which was GREAT experience: good service, excellent crab tots! After moving to dinner table, both service & food went downhill. Our waiter was nice, but inefficient--maybe he was suffering from DT's--definitely had shakes. We got no bread; plus, 2 steaks, ordered medium rare, came out medium (1) & well-done (2). The well-done steak was replaced w/rare (red cool center) not medium rare (red warm center). The manager did come over to apologize, but overall, disappointing experience.

the waiters are bad. ordered iced tea and had to ask for it after waiting 15 minutes. had no knives to butter the rolls that we had to ask for after 20 minutes and we were told that the knife gnomes must have taken them. we ordered buffalo chicken strips and they were honey glazed and we were told that the menu must be wrong as they do not have buffalo chicken. I will not go back as the food was expensive and I expected better service. it is a shame because the food is really good.

We had 11 guest for dinner on Friday night. The large square table was the perfect setting to be able to talk. And it was quite! The food was very good and the service was good. We did have to ask for more water and bread but for a large party the waiter did a good job

We are usually very happy at M&S or McCormick that's why we choose it for special occasions, but I think the staff (kitchen and wait) were worn out after the Mother's Day Brunch. We had reservations for 4:00, didn't get seated until 4:15. My wife and daughter ended up with chocolate stains on their skirts from the booth seat that was not properly cleaned before we were seated (hence the low ambience score). Service was ok, but the server looked worn out, and the food was ok-to-fair (presentation and palate-wise). I'll be sure to get my reservations made earlier, if we go back for another Mother's Day.

We enjoyed our brunch for Mother's Day very much. The food was great and our waitress was wonderful. The only thing that wasn't great was the waiting area - we had made reservations and I don't know if there were a bunch of walk-ins or what but the waiting area was very crowded - people were bumping into you coming in, going out, and there was a poor older man trying to get through the crowd with his plate of food and his table was in the back southeast corner of the restaurant! To me there shouldn't be a table there - expand your waiting area into that place and make it a little more comfortable for people.

The buffet food was not what I expected from M&S Grill. The food was lack luster and the Buffet when I went to get my entree, there were many empty or near empty containers. There were at least three to four that were empty. The salad bar was bare minimum and few choices. The food was not the quality I was expecting. I could get meat loaf at any local diner.

The food was on par as usual for what you would expect for a Moter's Day Brunch and not necessarily typical for M&S Grill regular menu. The throngs of people taking their Mother's to Brunch made for a little wait time but since we had reservations we were seated fairly quickly even though most in our party had not yet arrived and were a little late. The Service was outstanding and could not complain. I expected the large crowd and the noise but the food was hot and kept fresh on all the service tables. My party of 5 did not have to ever wait for any drink refills and all the empty plates were taken at every opportunity. My Mother was pleased and that's saying something.

We went for Mother's day brunch. The restaurant was crowded, I felt they had crowded a lot of tables in the space to get more people in, walking to the buffet tables was a chore. The food was so-so, they had just 2 options for eggs, and no omelet station. There were no placards to indicate what was being served on the brunch tables. They had very minimal vegetarian options. The server was great and very attentive. All serving staff were very polite and friendly. They gave a free dessert to all mom's- a chocolate covered strawberry that was very good and a nice touch. I would not return unless they organise it better, improve the menu and stopped cramming people in small spaces.

Not a terrible experience but overall just a bit disappointing. We went here for Mother's Day since it said they had a nice buffet. It took us 15 minutes and asking 3 different people before we got the high chair we specified in our reservation. There was no omelette bar or carving station and they were having issues with their Belgian Waffle maker. The waitress was friendly but made no attempt to introduce herself or welcome us to the restaurant nor did she explain anything about the buffet other than to say help yourself. The food was very plain/average and the selection was unimpressive. While I wouldn't go out of my way to tell you " don't eat there" I would definitely recommend you try somewhere else if you have the option

I made these reservations for my wife and daughter for Mother's day. They started their "girls night out" with a few drinks and then a very enjoyable dinner. They shared this the event with me later that night. Each of them received a rose upon arrival...a little added touch to make the occasion just a bit nicer. Thanks for treating my special girls special on this evening.

Years ago I had one of the best kids I've ever had. Unforturnately, the bar staff now doesn't know the difference between a kir and a kir royale. The hostess sat us at a table in the back and before we left there was a party of 6 and 4 right next to us while the rest of the restaurant was pretty empty. It seemed to be more for the convenience of the waiter than consideration of the patrons. My husband and I shared a meal and had to ask for separate plates. I ordered a glass of wine with my meal and stopped eating so I didn't finish before the wine arrived. I don't think we'll be back in the near future.

Meal was pretty good but you definitely had to come hungry! I wish there were more "breakfast items" vs. all the lunch items. Loved the eggs benedict hash (???) but after that it felt most the options were geared as lunch items. Loved the fruit and cheese and the waffle station was great! We swore we saw the meal advertised as $20 but were charged $26 but still went with it. Not a bad experience at all!

The food was good for an Easter brunch. I was disappointed in my dessert selection. Service was above average. I'm probably not a good source for this because I am a very good cook and baker. I don't eat out that often. The only reason I didn't cook Easter this year because of everyone's schedule. It was more important to me to be able to spend quality time. For me there was no wow factor at this brunch for the money spent.

This reservation was made several days before Easter. Our party of four was seated in a very dark area of the restaurant in a booth. The choices for the brunch were excellent. Orange juice was expensive...and the individual cost for the brunch was exceptionally high priced, and not mentioned when I reserved the brunch. I have been to this restaurant before for dinner. It was wonderful! I would not return for brunch, in the future.

Went with a group of 5 on a Friday evening, atmosphere was relaxed and quiet, which made it nice for visiting. Was able to score the corner table in the bar area with windows on two sides... people watching and a view of the fountain, it was great! Highly Recommend!

We went for my father's birthday. The staff, from the hostess to the server to the manager, all wished him a happy birthday - but without embarrassment. (No singing) His menu was personalized to say "Happy Birthday" - an unexpected keepsake. The server, Rae, was top-notch. Food was great. The only drawback was that it was Prom Night. So it got a bit loud with lots of teenagers in the room. However, it did not detract from our dining experience.

However, the food was not up to par and the our server Ron...I believe that was his name was not very interested in my party of two. Moreover , while this my not be a standard at M&S, my guest ask for a straw due to dental work, he(Ron) in formed us that he would bring one at the start of the meal. Needless to say, we were on our last bit when he finally slid the naked straw in the glass with his bare hands. By the way, take the Mac and Cheese off the menu.....a fat kid would not even want it.

Bar service was ok, but bartenders were not very engaging. Table service was medium, took 15 min to get drinks refilled (both times), left dirty plates on table even though waiter was by to check on how we were doing. Food was bland -- Steak and Lobster was NOT worth 30+ bucks (didn't even have veggies), friend's parmesan chicken was mediocre, salmon was good, friend's double cut porkchop was really good and of a good size, however other portions were small (probably what I really needed, but for the money, a HUGE disappointment) --- I've had better service and food at Applebees for one quarter the money. Will probably not be back unless I need to feel 'johnson county pompous' and drop a bunch of cash for medium enjoyment.
