This atmospheric restaurant has been serving English food with a continental flair for more than 3 decades. The Family operated restaurant has built an enviable reputation for fine food & service. Most of the staff has been on board since the restaurant opened in 1970. Entering this elegant… enclave is like stepping back in history. Reminiscent of a 19th century London Inn beckoning diners into another era. Lyons offers some of the most flavorful and finest cuts of meats in the desert. Eastern corn-fed USDA Prime Rib, NY Steaks, Filet Mignon, Braised Short Ribs, Lamb Shanks and a fine selection of fresh seafood. "Haven't been to Lyons in several years....but its always a dinner choice when I visit Palm Springs. And the visit this time was just like all the rest: PERFECT. Had the nicest server. I like the fact that all the folks who work there seem to have a lot fun and know many of the customers very well. Its the gem of Palm Springs in my opinion."

"Lyons has let the quality slip. Three people for dinner all ordering Prime Rib. Salad were saturated with dressing. The serve Yorkshire Pudding (Pop Overs) lets just say the were burned on the outside and undercooked inside, resulting from a to hot oven.

Prime Rib was acceptable, but I've seen the same at Denny's. Very average and lacking in flavor, definitely not well aged and very tender. Needed a steak knife to cut them.

Consensus from all three "not special, and would not return. All of us had not been there in over 10 years, and it's quality and service have both slipped. Too bad it used to be the place to go for Prime, great service and atmosphere."

"The ambiance and the menu are super outdated...but I guess that's what you go for. The pomegranate martini was too sweet but I'll admit I found myself sailing high through the rest of the meal! My dinner companions' meat was extremely gristly. Our server Vic was greatly entertaining, and as we left he gave us a fascinating tour of the restaurant's various collections."

"Honestly, the restaurant itself is a bit outdated. Felt the decor was not English enough. There is NOTHING worse than fake plants. They are tacky and plain "fake".

The service was amazing. Very attentive waiter and enjoyable to talk and joke with. He deserves to be well noticed.

The menu is like any night club menu in the valley. Plain, typical and UN-English. Two or three items noted from England. The pop-overs were on the verge of being burnt. Fried zucchini was good but serving ketchup is for kids. Why not a piccalilli and a horseradish sauce or something more elegant.The blue cheese sauce was like water. Not what I am use too. The steak and kidney pie was "EXCELLENT"!! and ENGLISH. I will come back for it again.

"Lyon's has been a fixture in Palm Springs for 65 years---and there's reason for that longevity---it's a warm, friendly comfortable place. As close to the warmth and camaraderie everyone enjoyed at Cheers as shown in the TV series. We love it and will be back as long as they're in business."

"Great steak and excellent prime rib. Great ambiance, very old school. Service is great. What wasn't good about the meal was the mashed potatoes (they were from a box) and the bread pudding dessert (it was cold and bland)."
