  • "This was a first visit, and the reputation that preceded the restaurant was one of excellent cheese and charcuterie, an extensive craft beer list, and limited but creative entrees. It did not disappoint on all accounts. Our group of four shared charcuterie and cheese selections, then moved on to mussels for entrees. Two of us had the Vietnames mussel preparation, and it was unique and flavorful The accompanying frites were top notch as well. The only downside to the evening was the noise level. Tables are closely spaced, and it was difficult to carry on a conversation over the din."

  • "I have eaten here a half dozen times over the years and have always had mediocre service, at best. The wait staff is alternately harried and indifferent. The waiters are assisted by many who consistently try to remove your plates. I have sometimes felt like I was being rushed, and this last visit was no exception. The food is very good and very fresh, though my scallops were not terribly hot--as though they may have been sitting for a little bit. The service was such a big turn off the last time I was here that I wouldn't have come back, but for the gift card I received for Christmas. I recommend some additional training for staff."

  • "The food is always good. The service is too. Last night's visit impressed me. I went with a friend who had just gotten her American citizenship. She was excited and proud and wanted to celebrate somewhere fun. We ordered a bottle of champagne. Our waitress asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. We told her about the citizenship and she congratulated her. We ordered appetizers and our meals. Then one of the waiters brought over an appetizer we didn't order. We thought it was a mistake but he told us it was a gift! After dinner they brought over an almond layer cake with ice cream as an additional gesture! They really did a great job making my friend feel special!"

  • "We have never had a meal that was less than memorable! Sausages, fish, pretzels , beef tartare.... List of favs gies on and on. The only strange thing this visit was that the waitress brought us a bread basket. We decided to wait for our meal. Good thing because a few minutes later, she took it back, and gave it to the table next to us! She didn't look to see if we had endulged. But, our two tables laughed it off, as they offered to share. ;). Looking forward to our next visit!!"

  • "After a great experience here a few weeks ago when my partner and I stopped by the bar for drinks and a snack, we thought we'd try the restaurant. The ambiance here is great, as is the service. Our experience with the food, however, was very disappointing. The onion soup, while full of flavor, ended up causing my partner severe stomach upset for several hours after the meal. My main course mushroom schnitzel with spaetzle was a complete disaster and should be removed from the menu. It had no flavor whatsoever, and the spaetzle was unrecognizable. I honestly could not eat this dish, and had to order another entree. The pasta dish that came next was actually quite good. My advice: Order drinks, pasta, bread or the soft pretzel."

Our friends enjoyed the trout and beef bourgigon entrees. The duck cassoulet was very salty.. and not special. Extremely loud even upstairs on a Saturday night."

  • "Lyon Hall is unique, very modern, with a terrific perspective on the menu and food prep. Don't miss out on the Charcuterie (some of which is house made) and the Cheese boards (also local or house made). Cassoulet was excellent and a modern interpretation of this proper peasant dish. Fish was fresh and well prepared. Desserts were equally interesting and delicious. The wait staff are very well trained and the recommendations of our waiter were spot-on! The bar was packed the whole evening, and as the footprint is small, that with the music and televisions made for a loud atmosphere. But is also fit with an trendy restaurant in an upscale new community."

Our waitress (Diane) was absolutely wonderful and had great suggestions. I will deffinitely be back :-)"

  • "My boyfriend and I have gone to Lyon Hall a few times in the past and have enjoyed our experiences, but this time it was just okay. We had to wait 30 minutes for our table even though we had a reservation. We would have gone to the bar when we arrived, but the hostess said the wait would be 5-10 minutes, so we hung around by the front. Unfortunately, we kept waiting and waiting. The hostess did send us some cheese once we sat, though we would have preferred a round! We ordered the mussels, which are an enormous serving, and my boyfriend had the tagliatelle while I had the pork schnitzel. Everything was good and we were able to get over our initial disappointment, though it was so loud, I had to shout across the table."

  • "My parents like coming to Lyon Hall for Sunday Brunch en famille. The upstairs dining room is very cozy with large enough tables for groups. The homemade doughnuts and lattes are delicious! Though I like the food, it can be a bit heavy and over salted. Perhaps the spring menu will be a little lighter."

  • "Terrific updated take on a French brasserie, with lots of traditional Alsatian sausages and seafood plates to share. We tried two of the kinds of mussels and were "wow'ed" by both. We also enjoyed the house made cheeses for dessert. The wine list isn't exhaustive, but it is well matched to the food and our server was excellent at making recommendations to suit both our individual tastes as well as the food we were pairing with. I would definitely recommend this - and their sister restaurant Liberty Tavern - to locals or other visitors to the area such as ourselves. We'll go back next time we're in the Arlington area. BTW, the restaurant made note of the fact that we were celebrating a birthday and brought us a dessert w/ a candle!"

  • "First time dining at Lyon Hall. My wife and I were impressed with the beer list and menu online and wanted to check it out for dinner on the Monday after Valentines Day. The restaurant was pretty crowded for a Monday night. Love the concept, with their extensive beer list and house-made sausage & charcuterie. Service was a little slow, and looked like they tried their best to keep up. We had the pretzel and sausage platters. Both were delicious, with well-made sauerkraut and selection of mustards. Not cheap, but good value. We love Flemish and Belgian sour beers, and one of the selling points was Duchesse de Bourgogne on tap, but It was out. Our server was extremely helpful in selecting an alternative and giving us samples."

  • "Dined with another couple on a Sunday evening. Our party of four enjoyed our meal and left satisfied, but not blown away. Just about on the same level as neighboring Tallula but with less ambience. Ordered a white wine off the list and it came out room temp. Waitress attempted to correct it with a different bottle but that was also not a good temp. Too bad because it was a great glass! 3 out 4 meals were good, the only meal really lacking was the Tagliatelle. The Boeuf Borg. is NOT traditional and more like a spare rib though it is tasty. The spaetzle that accompanied the pork schnitzel was unique and tasted almost like popcorn. Unfortunately, while it was a decent meal, its not enough to bring us back to the pain that is Clarendon"

  • "The food was fantastic but the only problem I had was that I had made a reservation and I waited so long that I might as well not have. I came with a group of six and they looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for my table. It became clear they forgot about my reservation when they offered me a couple of high top tables. Luckily they were able to pull together a table and we ended up having a great brunch."
