Lyon HallBrunchI had brunch for the first time at Lyon Hall. I got the steak and eggs - with the eggs poached! Really good. Large portion (large steak and 3 eggs) + vegetable + side salad. Also bread for the table. My friend got French toast. She said it was ok, not a lot of flavor. She was expecting a fruit salad on the side, but it was more of a berry compote. The bread, which I usually find really good, was a little dry. My meal was amazing though! I didn't get a brunch cocktail, but they looked really good! I love Lyon Hall because their entrees are always well prepared and delicious.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMdinner at Lyon HallWe chose Lyon Hall for an anniversary dinner with friends after it was listed in Washingtonian's 100 best restaruants. My husband and I split a large, delicious frisee salad, and our friends loved the onion soup. Sausages are a speciality and ours were delicious. The side of pommes frittes was wonderful and we split what was left because they were too good to leave. Service was attentive. There was a good mixture of more and less expensive dishes. We highly recomment Lyon Hall.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMPretty good eveningWas a few minutes late to a 8:45 reservation, but was seated quickly and with choice of outdoors or in. Waiter was pleasant, cocktail menu was fun, food was unique. Enjoyed the frankfurter appetizer -and mussels provencal. Overall enjoyed the experience and would go back. Noticed that as it got later the music became louder and the waiter was less attentive, but those things didn't ruin the night.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasantly surprisedDefinitely make reservations since the placed get busy. That said the food was fantastic and our waitress was very fun to interact with.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrationOur first time at Lyon Hall was enjoyed outdoors to celebrate our birthdays. We were seated in no time and served by a most pleasant and attentive waiter. Our meal was great! We were then very surprised when served a "platter of warm donuts" of various delicious flavors such as pineapple, chocolate chip, etc. I'm coming back! Great first impression.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMNoisy But Good FoodNoisy but very good food. We were there during the Memorial Day weekend. Thie service was excellent. We will have to wait for another holiday weekend to return. Found the menu selections to be very different and enticing.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food! This was my third time at Lyon Hall. They have great creative brunch options and fantastic mussels. I would definitely go back.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGood brunchWe went to the restaurant for Saturday brunch. There are various food menus and they are reasonable.
Especially, donuts are very nice.
We would like to visiting once again for dinner.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMMost amazing time at brunchWe went to brunch with a friend and had the most wonderful time. The ambiance, the food, the drinks, and the service were all perfect. They have one of the best Bloody Mary's I have ever had. The vin blanc mussels were delicious and my husband's pork schnitzel sandwich was awesome. We really enjoyed the fresh made donuts as well. We had never been to Lyon Hall for brunch, but we will definitely go back soon.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMVery Reliable Arlington FavoriteNever can go wrong at Lyon Hall. Service is always terrific and the food always good. Love the cocktail and beer offerings as well.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a reservation for 1:00We had a reservation for 1:00 on a sunday, but weren't seated till 1:30. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed their meal. There was a delay in the service in that no one checked after our meal was served and so the item I was missing took about 15 minutes to arrive. Also, it took awhile to get our check paid.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyable evening at Lyon HallHostess was very welcoming - our table was ready upon arrival. It was a crowded Friday night, so noise level was loud. Waitress initially had trouble connecting, but warmed up as evening went on. Food was well prepared and came in a timely manner - cocktails were fun and well made. Would definitely return.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is a nice little restaurant. This is a nice little restaurant. First time there. Wanted to try someplace new. The food was good, portions good, price a tad bit high for brunch. My wife and I were there for mothers day. The staff was very good, polite, very accommodating. We had a baby and stroller and they put us at a perfect table. Not always easy to squeeze a car seat in. We woiuld go back and try it for dinner.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day 2013Nice place for a special celebration. The menu is varied enough to offer food options (small plates, salads, sandwiches, entrees) for all ages and interests, and the price range is good too. An extended Happy Hour was a good place to start before we were seated. Tables are close but you don't feel that your are imposing on your "neighbors" or vice versa when conversing with your party. Staff is a little overeager in wanting to remove plates but we weren't rushed. If I lived in Clarendon, Lyon Hall would be a favorite hang-out of mine given the ambiance, menu choices, and price.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Brunch, Helpful StaffI had made a reservation for 10 for brunch, but accidentally made it for the wrong date. The greeter was very, very helpful, and got us a nice table for 10 anyway. He was willing to go out of his way to make it work. The food was really good, and plentiful. Brunch menu is varied enough for any taste - from seafood, vegetarian, game, regular breakfast fare. We had a great time. I've had dinner here a few times also, and their menu is inventive and tasty. It can be a little loud at night with the bar.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMUpstairs table was fineWe had a business dinner at Lyon Hall upstairs (quieter). The server, Erin, was very good, and so was the food. Large list of very good beers.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMy girlfriend and I splitMy girlfriend and I split a beet salad, mussels provencal, and a cheese plate. The house-made cheese was probably the best (impressive!) and everything else was very good. The mussels' seasoning didn't totally do it for me, but I tend to like my mussels a little more 'traditional' I guess (garlic, white wine, butter).
The table was quite cozy next to other patrons, and while I actually enjoyed rubbing elbows, this aspect probably wouldn't be ideal for an intimate date where you want to ignore the world around you.
My gf and I have been here once before and got sausages, which were really fantastic, but since then we've both become vegetarian besides occasional seafood. Great place for that occasional seafood for a special occasion!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA perfect spot for dinnerA perfect spot for dinner with friends. If you're a cheese fan, don't miss the cheese board selections!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place!Continues to be one of the best places to eat in Arlington. Excellent food. Excellent service. We eat here frequently and are never disappointed. I wish all restaurants were this well run and this consistent with their menu quality and their service. Highly recommend it!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA true gem in Arlington!Lyon Hall is my favorite Arlington restaurant...the food, ambiance, wine list, and service are fantastic. It never disappoints and keeps us coming back time after time. So glad they opened three years ago and continue to offer classic and modern French bistro food in cool atmosphere with impeccable service. A+++5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThe house made sausages andThe house made sausages and mussels Lorraine were both delicious. Fantastic selection of good beers on draft. Our server was knowledgeable, personable, and efficient. Best meal we've had out in sometime and it was bargain when we got our check. Overall, a great experience! We will be back for sure!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was delicious, theThe food was delicious, the ambiance was energetic with great music playing and the service was outstanding. Can't wait to go back!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGourmet Brats n Beers (n much more)Great food and service. The tables are a bit on-top-of-each-other, but still no too bad or too loud. Good wines and drinks, but darn good domestic & European beers. Solid European Style Belgian Bistro.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent cocktail, beer andExcellent cocktail, beer and food menu. Excellent mussels and triumphant Daube de Bouef that simply melted in your mouth. Skate cassoulet tasty. Saturday night got loud with the adult singles-scene and 1980s dj taking over the front of the house. It was like a 30 year high school reunion gone wild. But not in a bad way.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't wait to Return! What a great meal! Don't come here if you're on a diet, because the food is classic French and German, but if you're in the mood to dine on some wonderful, hearty cuisine, this is your place. I'm a carboholic and the breads were even fantastic, which means that you really shouldn't waste the stomach space ordering pretzels unless you're with a group of at least four people. It's just too much food. My friend got the sausage medley, which he enjoyed, I got the braised beef short ribs, which were spectacular, and we shared the truffle spatzle. I'm been fantasizing about that ever since! The wait staff took a bit of a team approach, which can sometimes be annoying but here it was just helpful.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMSome childhood friends andSome childhood friends and I had brunch here and were very happy with all of our dishes. We ordered the doughnuts as a starter (nice variety and quite delicious). The service was great. Food came out promptly.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful! We went with aWonderful! We went with a party of eight on a Sunday night (an iffy restaurant night for sure) but we were pleasantly surprised. Our server was amazing and the charcuterie was delightful. The beet salad was also very good. My salmon was overcooked (I confirmed that they would
Serve it med rare). The other guests enjoyed their entrees, but everyone agreed the apps and service were the stars of the meal. The kruellers were the best thing at dessert.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was fantastic - as usual.Food was fantastic - as usual. Nothing beats their pretzels and mussels vin blanc but the Pinot Noir by the glass on the menu was slightly less than stellar. Looking forward to trying brunch!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMonday Oyster Deal!I've really enjoyed Lyon Hall for two main things recently - $1/oyster Mondays and an great beer list! As the weather warms up, its also a great neighborhood pub where you can enjoy the ambience of Belgian pub style inside in air-conditioning or leisurely sip your brew on the patio.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWas very impressed on threeWas very impressed on three fronts. Depth of the beer menu. Any place that has Gouden Carolus on draught... exceptional.
Food choices were all top notch. Compares very well alongside Belga Cafe in DC.
The Staff on every level was great. They worked together seamlessly, had good insight on menu selections, gave us three different tastes of our wine choices to help make the decision (was really tempted to abuse that) and were unstintingly polite and happy.
Will definitely go back4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love sitting at the barWe love sitting at the bar at Lyon Hall. Our bartender was so great on Easter that we couldn't wait to return. Sadly, on Saturday morning the bartender was completely dead. We aren't very excited to return this time.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but priceyThe place is convenient for me as it is only a block or so from the Metro. I enjoyed the mussels, lamb chops and house Sauvignon Blanc from Bordeaux. The service was timely and friendly. The place is a bit pricey for what you actually get (you can spend a lot of money here and wonder what it was for), but the quality of the food is excellent. I will return.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place never fails toThis place never fails to deliver great food paired with great service. I am fortunate to be able to eat there regularly.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMMy girlfriend and I were celebratinMy girlfriend and I were celebrating our 4 year anniversary. We both work in the food/bar industry. We were looking for something new and edgy in our new neighborhood. We booked a resi for 2 at 7:00. However, we arrived early for the bar happy hour. We arrived around 5:30. We were greeted quickly and graciously by the only bartender there (scruffy, witty, and knowledgable). We liked him immediately. We liked him so much that we quickly told the hostess to scratch our reservation. We were comfortable eating at the bar.
Speaking of food, the happy hour mussells were lights out. To our surprise, you can get the HH mussells done in any of 4 ways. The scruffy, awesome, (cute cause my GF said so), bartender described them to a T.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server's knowledge ofOur server's knowledge of the beer and the dishes on the menu was quite impressive, particularly since the food portion of the menu had just changed for spring. She was enthusiastic, as well, but not overbearing, which allowed for a very nice meal.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food! Great beerVery good food! Great beer selection. The place is a very noisy, but no so bad that you can't hear the other members of your party.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMA little bit of France in ArlingtonI chose Lyon Hall because of the on-line reviews. It was my husband's birthday and I wanted a restaurant near Synetic Theater for dinner before the play. I was impressed from the beginning when I phoned to say we would be delayed and was told the table would be held for us.As for the food, it is lovely from the breadbasket on.I had the swordfish and my husband had skate.I would go back just for the saffron white bean sauce that accompanied my meal.My only issue is that the my fish was not hot, more lukewarm.Good wine list and terrific service. The chef sent an amuse bouche, two perfectly seared scallops,to our table and my husband's desert came with a candle! This is a thoughtful reataurant about the food, service and ambiance.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMService was wonderful. ContraryService was wonderful. Contrary to many reviews, the noise level was not intrusive..conversation was possible!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall experience was good,Overall experience was good, but the restaurant is small and loud. Definitely not a romantic place, but delightful menu.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe pork schnitzel sandwichThe pork schnitzel sandwich on home-made pretzel bread was delicious!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMFun place. Great beer. GreatFun place. Great beer. Great apps. Main courses lacked. Service outstanding!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for brunchHad a wonderful brunch at Lyon Hall. Attentive service, as usual. A favorite place that hasn't disappointed since its opening.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBreakfast was good, they justBreakfast was good, they just need a new potato recipe.
Afternoon tea - was not an English tea and it was not done in the dining room so there were not enough seats for everyone who came.
The dinner was excellent, the only negative being the time between courses was a bit long.
We were in one of the smaller dining rooms, only 6 tables, which had a fireplace - very nice environment.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the food and how friendlyLoved the food and how friendly and knowledgeable our server was. The only downside was how incredibly loud the music was, even upstairs.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a birthday party upstairs! We had a birthday party upstairs!
