  • "We are from out of town so when we get the chance to go someone much nicer than the options we have at home LUX has become our go to choice. Yes the menu is al a carte, but that is pretty normal at many upscale restaurants & we enjoy that the side portions are usually shareable size. We arrived early for our reservation & were greeted promptly & professionally, they even seated us immediately. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, making some recommendations off the wine list as well as from the drink menu. Our steaks were cooked perfectly & served at the perfect temperature! The manager came over, introduced himself, asked about our meal & made sure we were happy with everything. I highly recommend LUX!!"

  • "is overpriced. Our steaks were fantastic, grilled perfectly. The sides were mediocre. The cheque for 2 people...2 drinks and a meal with a side each....$ 115....and we left feeling we could have ate more. There were 4 of us and we all felt like that and we are not huge eaters. But most steakhouses, you start with bread and sometimes a salad....not here. I don't even recall a bread side to order on the menu? ( I could be wrong but I usually spot that being the Keg's cheesebread is my favorite! ) Our server was amazing - she knew her stuff and she was always there when we needed her but not overbearing. So although we enjoyed our dinner out with friends, we most likely will not return to Lux if it was our choice....."

  • "I went for the server recommended lunch special they had which was a 6oz steak with a side of potatoes and vegetables. Yes, a whole 1(one) potato. The steak was cut into a few slices prior to serving which resulted in it being dry by the time I finished eating the first slice. The service itself was good as always, ambience top notch and I appreciate that they don't bunch the tables together so there is never a "shoulder-to-shoulder" situation. Its a nice and quiet place, despite always being busy where one can have a quiet conversation without having to raise the tone of voice."

  • "They humiliate you if you order your steak well done. They charge you for condiments! I asked for steak sauce and there was a $3 charge on my huge bill. Our bill came to over $140 dollars (no dessert) and I as still hungry after that. Veggies with my meal were cold and raw. They served my $45 steak with chips! Then side dished like potatoes were extra!"

  • "My wife and I went to LUX for Valentine's Day and had an excellent experience. It was quieter than expected, which was nice, but the service was a bit slow considering how empty the restaurant was when we first arrived. That said, the servers were all helpful and on top of their game, they were just a bit slow to get to us when we needed them. The food was excellent. The only complaint is that the brussels sprouts side dish came with more corn than brussels sprouts (which I thought strange, given how inexpensive brussels sprouts are). I'd have preferred more brussels sprouts and less corn, but in the end this is a minor quibble. I'd definitely recommend LUX. It's pricey, even by Edmonton's usual steakhouse standards, but well worth it."

  • "This was our first time at Lux and it didn't disappoint. The only minor things were the calamari was undercooked, and although it was not her fault by any means we did have a very new server and it showed. On another not order the lap of Luxury if you have two hungry people although in reality it could feed four. Simply amazing is all I can say, but ensure you have a large table to accommodate this platter as we had to move to a new table just to fit it. We can't wait to go back and order the lap of luxury with that delicious lobster Mac and cheese and the beef is on point. Cheers"

  • "Food was simply great. The service was lacking, however. My girlfriend and I arrived 10min early for our 7:00pm Valentines reservation and were seated promptly by the host. After 15 minutes we were finally asked for our drink orders, and ordered a bottle of white wine. Our wine arrived, 35min later minus a wine cooler, our food orders were then taken. (Which didn't show up for another 30min, supposedly the "porter forgot it"). Appetizers came - We got the onion rings (usually a side) and kobe sliders. The sliders were nice, however lacking chipotle mayo. Onion rings were a must try. We shared a ceasar salad as a starter, it was salty, however a large serving. I ordered the 12oz ribeye, and my girlfriend the surf and turf. Outstanding."

  • "I had a great time there, I thought the food was good, but it should say on the menu that the steaks do come with a side of seasonal veggies and like crispy potato things. We ordered extra sides which we very tasty but it was way too much food. Also, the waitress we had kept messing up our drink orders and setting our steaks down to the wrong people. I am not going to judge the whole restaurant on one waitress though. She also took all our orders and then another waiter had to remind her to tell us about the specials. Which she didn't even know what they were she had to read them off the specials broad. I over all had a good experience the staff just seemed unorganized."

  • "I've been dining here regularly, about once a month for the past year with colleagues. We take turns making the reservations. Although we are always greeted and sat down right away -- our server sometimes doesn't present themselves for several minutes - which when you only have an hour for lunch, can seem like an eternity. The food once ordered, normally arrives quickly, so we do have adequate time to eat our lunches....however I would suggest having a dedicated lunch menu to get the portion sizes down. No one likes to be over-stuffed on lunch and head back to the office, neither does one want to be wasteful and leave food to be thrown out. There is also the inappropriateness of packing up the left-overs especially if its a business lunch."

  • "a Steak House is supposed to have good steak and cook it the way you order it, and if the server makes a suggestion and you accept it you should be able to expect that suggestion to be implemented. Well on the night we went none of these things were in sink. Also their salads are ordinary for the price. I did like the scalloped potatoes"

The presentation of the food was amazing but the taste of the food was awful :( it was flavorless it was missing something like seasonings. The food was extremely greasy as we'll and some of it even came out cold already wasn't hot at all. I was very disappointed with the food :( I was glad that I used a gift cArd and money did not come out of my pocket I would never go back and would never recommend anyone to go back. I left hungry and our bill was 86$! And it was my first time to Lux. Over priced and tasteless. Now I know why there was not very many people there."

  • "We had heard great things about lux and decided to go there for our anniversary dinner. The service was prompt and attentive and the food arrived within a reasonable amount of time. Our starter salads were excellent. Unfortunately our entrees left much to be desired. Our vegetable were all relatively undercooked and our steaks were over cooked and chewy, something you wouldn't expect at a restaurant with such a high reputation. The lobster tail we ordered was rubbery but the asparagus, scallops and beets were good."

This continued for the duration of the evening. Our meal took an hour and 3/4 to arrive but was overall very good with great presentation."

Loved how we weren't rushed to order, and we were able to have a very nice evening of talk (wonderful that we could be heard), over some delicious food. Our servers (esp. Gordon) were excellent. Only thing that marred the evening was the cold that blasted through the door, when people opened the door (that was marked "Please don't use "- but still was). I think a redesign to include a vestibule is in order... this is Edmonton, remember. Otherwise, a perfect setting for a special night."

  • "Tried Lux this week for the first time. I had the ahi tuna melt sandwich and my husband had the reuben. The reuben was fabulous. The ahi tuna melt left a lot to be desired. The french bread disguised all of the flavours in the sandwich. It was not very flavourful. I have had much better ahi tuna dishes at other restaurants. Lux should incorporate more flavours into this sandwich or pair the tuna with other sauces/garnishes instead. Also it was mostly cooked instead of raw + seared on the outside, which I found strange. Good customer service though. Hot spot during the week at lunch. Definitely get a reservation."

  • "After spending a morning of Remembrance for my fallen brothers and sisters in arms my wife and I chose to have a meal out. The presentation of the restaurant and staff was professional and enjoyable. We were both very impressed by the quality of the food and cuts of meat for our meal. The vegetables were cooked and seasoned perfectly to compliment the meat and the drinks were very good. Lux was a long shot on our list and it surprised us both to a very positive degree. To put a great ending to an already positive meal was the fact the Chef offered us our desserts free of charge."
