As far as restaurants with a view go, you cannot beat Lure in Victoria. Whether on the patio or in the dining room, there are fantastic ocean and inner harbor views. The service is spectacular, a great venue for special occasions.

The view on the patio is lovely. The waiter was nice and helpful. Even after dark, there were heat lamps to keep us warm, which was really helpful on a cool September night. The only downsides were that they forgot our appetizers and had to bring them after our main courses, but they didn't make us pay for them so that was good customer service and they apologized profusely.

As usual, the ambience, food and service at Lure were outstanding. What was a surprise was that the menu was not as extensive or imaginative as it used to be. It seemed like a decision had been made to change Lure from a fine dining restaurant to an enjoyable place to meet friends after work for drinks, with food being secondary. I'm sure there was a good reason for this change. We will continue to come to Lure. But we no longer place Lure in the same category as the Blue Crab or Vista 18. But we did enjoy our meal.

I liked the restaurant and the view and the food was very tasty. Sadly, our waitress ignored us most of the time. We waited at least half and hour for our food. I had to send my son up to see what was happening. The waitress said that she got caught up serving a table of twenty. She could have come by and told us and given us a basket of bread while we waited. Then again at the end, she gave me the bill, but never came back to take my credit card. We ended up going up to the cash, like you do at Denny's. She did take 7 dollars off the bill for having made us wait for so long, but I did not feel good about the experience. I live in Esquimalt and was hoping for a place to be a "regular". I would hesitate to go back.

This was our first visit after the Reno to our former favourite restaurant. We were shocked that of the fine dining we were used to it was now essentially pub fare. The menu was so disapointing, and where was the formerly best clam chowder in Canada? The food wasn't all that bad, but the variety was apaling.the lovely harbour view has been destroyed by the added section, and the flamethrower were distracting.we were a party of seven, and all diaponted by the food- too much fried, and no vegetables. It will be a long time before we try this place again.

I liked the ambiance and the venue. Close to the harbour with a nice view of the water and lights. It can be romantic in the dinning area or comfortable and relaxed in the bar area. It is trendy, selections of the food are limited but good.

This used to be a beautiful, high-end romantic spot with a great view back toward the Parliament. Now it is noisy, with low end fare. The main courses ranged from burgers to chicken sandwich. I would not go back again ... unless for something like a frat party or bachelorette night.

While the view was superb, the food was not. I ordered the salmon which was very bland. My husband ordered the steak which was overcooked and not very flavorful. The one star was the oyster - beautifully presented and freshly delicious. Service was fine. I'd suggest appetizers and drinks for the view, but suggest that "foodies" move on.

This has got to be one of the worst dining experiences I've had in Victoria. The food was mediocre at best; overpriced and not that fresh. But the service was terrible. We made a reservation for a nice dinner with a view, and when we got there we were stuck in a dark, dingy corner in the lounge, despite the fact at there were open tables in the proper restaurant. It then took nearly an hour before we got our drink orders. The food took another hour. Our server never came around to see how we were doing, or refill our drinks. If the restaurant was busy and we didn't have a reservation, I could understand putting us in the lounge, but that was not the case. I will certainly not be returning, and will advise others not to as well.

We went to Lure for my dad's birthday. Great atmosphere, beautiful view, friendly fast service! The food was delicious and they use lots of local ingredients. Drinks were reasonably priced, and lots of wines by the glass to choose from. They have a few local beers on tap. My brother was excited about the Hoyne Dark Matter. I'm not a beer drinker, but I had a glass of Sandhill Pinot Gris which was great with my meal. My fish and chips were fresh and crispy, not too much batter and not oily. The steak sandwiches were a hit with my dad and brother. I loved this restaurant, and I'm planning on going back with some girlfriends this weekend for cocktails and appies on the patio!

Went to this restaurant for the first time during this years (2014)symphony splash event. Food was excellent, noise level atrocious! Loud music, Couldn't hear the symphony playing across the water or the waitress. very nice patio, but speakers outside ruin the atmosphere. The bruschetta (3pieces) and crab cakes(served alone, no greens) were wonderful, 2pieces halibut and chips came on a plank and were done in a thin crispy batter. Steak sandwich was pretty good: served open faced on 1/2 bun, maybe a little pricy at 19.95 for what you got, but delicious. Service was slow, but we didn't care as we were enjoying our evening. Great food, room & view, Probably would't go back because of the noise level-never did care for the disco dining model.

Took friend for a farewell dinner, looking forward to the "new Lure". Beautiful! but ended up only staying for appies, as main menu was extremely disappointing. Food was tasty (flatbread, polenta fries, steelhead carpaccio) but had expected to have a "nice meal" as one could before the reno. Of the mains offered, 2 are sandwiches and 1 is a regular beef (C.A.B?) burger! The mains do look good for a roadhouse-style meal and we may return for a more casual supper, but we felt sad that the fine dining feel (seafood dishes, local meats, interesting veggies and sauces) and the previous excellent wine service has disappeared. Our server was friendly and tried hard but really had no clue and certainly knew nothing about wine or food pairings.

Although we made a reservation for our group of 8, the table was not ready for another 45 minutes after we arrived. Lure had just renovated this scenic space, but the bar area is so loud it is difficult to hear your neighbour. The server was unattentive and unfortunately gratuity was already included in our bill. Appetizer plates were not cleared before entrees. As a large group, we did not feel the restaurant cared for our presence.

Lure used to be a "go-to" place for special dinners. Since the reno, it isn't. It is now an extremely loud, noisy place where it is difficult to enjoy conversation with your meal. The food is still very good and the view is wonderful, but it is no longer special. And, with so much noise, it isn't a place to go to with people whose company you want to enjoy. If they would get rid of the music it would help a great deal. One highlight was our server who was terrific.

I knew the "old" Lure and... deeply regret it!! This "new" place is tacky, looks like a bistro. Lure used to be a classy restaurant, not anymore. The patio is now taking out the wonderful views for the customers choosing to dine inside. All doors leading to the patio remained open so customers are left in the middle of crosswinds, horrible! The menu has changed for the worst with weird mix of food AND YOU NEED TO PAY 6 DOLLARS FOR BREAD AND BUTTER!!!!! NO NO NO NO NO AND NO. Shocking!!! Food wise: the oysters were not chilled, the wine list became very poor and the famous goat cheese cheesecake has disappeared from the menu. I will never go back to Lure. They just lost a very loyal customer and I am not the only one. A waste of money/time.

Once a place with an excellent red wine sauce to go with its oysters, the Lure has revamped itself to attract the younger set so that all through the meal there is just this dull throbbing of bass with the listener clueless as to actual song. I miss the sense of fine dining it used to have, but the food remains good if greatly revamped. Re the mixed seafood platter as starter for $45 ~ I feel the condiments could be wider in selection and include a rose marie sauce. What the older generation has lost in fine dining, the younger set have gained in a seafood bar.

Having dined at Lure several times previously, prior to a re-model, I was expecting the same good quality of dining experience. Sadly, not the case. I could hear the noise from the first step into the hotel lobby, which didn't bode well for the experience. This restaurant, like others, doesn't seem to understand (or is doing so for its own perception of ambiance) that piping loud music into a restaurant only forces the patrons to be equally loud. Maybe fine for a pub but not for a restaurant. But perhaps that is the intent because the menu is now more like bar food selection than restaurant selection. After having to use a loud voice for a simple conversation over the dinner period, I am not planning on returning to Lure.

The lunch lasted forever because of slow service for food to be ready. In our case this was OK it was a special occasion but could have been frustrating. Our appetites are not huge and VERY disappointed to be charged extra for splitting halibut and fries = all we needed was an extra plate, so not acceptable. The food was good.

Visit started with an unfriendly hostess. Then the server did not visit our table for over 10 minutes at which point we were dying for coffee and had to flag down a server from a different section. The food took a long time and came out cold. Overall can't say that my pancakes were super tasty, quite bland. Server dropped off our food and then disappeared without quality checking us. Then she brought the bill while we were still eating (Denny's ring a bell anyone?)! All throughout the meal had to constantly flag people down for basics like more coffee, ketchup, hot water for tea. Very unimpressed with Lure and as a 'new' restaurant it needs to step up its game to compete with all the amazing places in Victoria.

I came with a group of 8 on the pickle boat pub crawl for my birthday. We were seated on the patio and it was a beautiful sunny day. I did have a reservation but forgot to ask for the patio. Good timing when we arrived a table was just leaving luckily! We got a lounge with a fire place in the middle. Very comfy casual. Delicious wings were served free as part of the pub crawl and the drinks were refilled promptly. Delicious red sangria!

Although the food was more along the lines of pub-type fare, it was all quite good and tasty. The service was also attentive and professional. The problem was the noise level - we had to lean in to the centre of the table to hear each other speak. Also, the music was better suited to the bar area than to the restaurant, too "thumpy". We dropped by for a drink late the next evening, and even though there were fewer people in the establishment, the noise level was still quite high.
