Diner Reviews
  • "We travelled to Vancouver for my husband's 50th birthday. I found Lupo online and made reservations. We were not disappointed. There were 5 of us and we all had a fabulous dinner. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. The ambience was fabulous. We loved that Lupo kept the character of the old house. The food was wonderful!!"

  • "This place was great, It looks like it used to be a house converted to restaurant. Food was amazing. We had an amazing time."

  • "We dropped in to Lupo while over-nighting in Vancouver prior to an early morning flight. We googled restaurants near the Westin Hotel and made this great discovery. We were quite under-dressed as we were off to a beach holiday, but we were made to feel welcome anyway. The service was excellent and all of the servers were friendly ad many stopped by our table to discuss the food with us. Everything tasted great! Not inexpensive but well worth the price. We look forward to going back to this restaurant."

  • "Waiter could have had more polish. Also would be nice if tables had table cloths, some did, but ours did not."

  • "I tell all my friends and family to go here!! Food is wonderful, wine is just damn good, and overall the place is just a gem. I've gone here a few times now, takes me a hour or so to get there but Lupo's has never ever let me down. The price and portions are perfect, yes small people say you pay to much for the amount of food you get or blah blah. Ever been to FINE dining in Vegas!? Double the cost and half the portions!! recommend Lupo's to everyone that wants a wonderful night out and amazing food!"

  • "fanastic experience. Brought a client there, and was told that it was one of the best dinners they have ever had in Vancouver."

  • "The veal and tuna appitizer was fantastic. Melt in your mouth good. Beautifully presented. The entree, steelhead trout, was magnifico. ☺️"

  • "The food as always was wonderful. We started with meat balls and the flavor and texture was perfect but the sauce made this dish. My menu choice was basic Italian, but the food was beyond basic. The service is wonderful. The staff know how to be helpful, attentive, but not intrusive. If we had to eat only 1 meal in Vancouver, this is where we will eat it."

  • "Overpriced. Food is mediocre at best. Not impressed."

  • "Lupo is has been our favourite restaurant for many years now, and everytime we come, it reaffirms our commitment. The staff always make you feel like you are the most important table in the restaurant. The front room of Lupo is a great place to have a party. It looks like it can accomodate 12 to 16 people. The large square table and enclosed room (with windows all around) is way better than the long rectangular tables that most restaurants offer for parties of this size. One can see and talk to everyone else at the table."

  • "Service is always outstanding at this restaurant. Attentive with seemless execution."

  • "The food was superb! all the dishes conveyed that lovingly hand made freshness and delicateness that you can taste the difference in immediately even if you aren't a foodie. The sauces and way the food was spices were absolutely delicious, nothing subtle, these were bold big flavours yet nothing was overwhelming anything else on the plate or my palate. the use of salt was just right without everything heavy or bogged down in the sauce like in many italian places I've been to. The friendly and attentive wait staff made the experience all that much more enjoyable, they were very knowledgeable about the menu and could handily provide advice about wine pairings."

  • "Our recent two dining experiences at Lupo's was outstanding. The food was superb...."compliments" to the Chef. Everything was hot, beautifully presented and delicious. The "service" was exceptional. What a wonderful jewel. We would definitely dine there again when we are in Vancouver and we will definitely recommend this restaurant to others. Thanks for the great dinners !!!! Marilyn (Regina, SK)"

  • "Overall, I enjoyed my dinner at Lupo. Our server was fantastic; very attentive and knowledgeable. She provided excellent wine recommendations. The appetizer (burrata) was very good, but the portion could have been a bit larger to share between three people. The entrees (we had the short ribs, veal and fish special) were excellent. The desserts (caramel apple pie, bread pudding and cannoli) were OK, not outstanding. Unfortunately, the people at the table next to us were very loud, so that made it difficult for us to talk (this brought down the score on "ambience"). Our table was not the best located either - close to the front entrance so were distracted by patrons and servers contstantly coming and going. Pricey, but would go back."

  • "We've dined at Lupo a number of times and found it exceptional. Last night was wonderful. The plates were absolutely hot to the touch. The napkin linen was first quality. Our waiter had an encyclopedic knowledge of everything on the menu, including the specials. Although we chose our own wine (super list, fairly priced), he knew of what he spoke in the wine department. My wife and I shared an appetiser. She had the Ossa buco, I had a pasta dish. Both were flavoured wonderfully. My wife also had a cappuccino. The foam consistency was silky...a real nice touch from someone who knew what she/he was doing. There are many Italian restaurants in Vancouver. From the ambience of the old character home, to the service, to the food: it's top quality."

  • "After reading reviews for Lupo I expected a great culinary experience. Not so. We dine out in the area every weekend so we know what is good and what is not. This really is not good and the price point is very high for both food and wine. My steak was so dry it was not even edible. It was supposed to be a ribeye but I have my doubts on that. My wife's pasta was noodles, oil and mushrooms. Terrible. The beet root salad was so tiny with barely any beets and it cost about $14. The service was good but service doesn't mean much when the food isn't good. There are much better Italian restaurants around Yaletown and downtown I would say skip this one."

  • "Lugo is a gem! Start with the Negroni Lupo! We began with the burrata special and then shared the lobster risotto as our primi course and asked for an Italian white wine pairing. The Soave paired beautifully and the risotto was incredible. We savored every bite. Our second courses were veal breast and veal New York. The flavors were terrific and again, our wine pairings were excellent. The veal was cooked perfectly. While sharing dessert we overheard a special and dessert being shared with other tables that our waitress failed to share with us. Service and overall would have been rated five stars but for these missteps. We would love to visit Lupo again if we ever visit Vancouver again. And if we go again, I will not be sharing the risotto!"

  • "It's been a long time since I was last at this restaurant, and although the name has been changed (from the old Villa de Lupo) it is clear that the original TLC and care for the customer has returned, courtesy of the first owners taking charge again! Terrific food, never felt rushed, staff were superb. Everyone was attentive, ready to adjust things to suit our requests, and to make the dinner an experience for me and for my family. I would not hesitate to recommend Lupo to anyone seeking authentic tastes and seriously good service."

  • "Beautiful restaurant in an old house. The food was superb. The marscapone polenta was incredible! Service was top notch. Overall, this was a wonderful dining experience"

  • "The ambiance is great. The restaurant is set in an older home. I couldn't stop looking at the leaded glass windows! Our server was fantastic recommending wine choices and delighting us with mouth-watering descriptions of the menu. You must try the mascarpone polenta. Oh, my!"

  • "We went pretty early (5:30 ish), so we were the first patrons of the day in the restaurant. Both the host and the server were super attentive throughout the meal. Maybe it was because it was pretty quiet in the restaurant when we went (early evening on a Tuesday), but attentive nonetheless. We order off the special menu only. Everything was excellent. Burrata cheese was great (but you can go buy Burrata in the market and have pretty much the same experience at fractions of the costs). Creamy pasta with white truffle shavings (shaved at the table) was super delicious but pricey. The server was nice enough to shave extra for me. Roasted lamb shank was superb--succulent yet not gamey so even my wife, who normally didn't like lamb, enjoyed it."

  • "Being Italian, I found myself feeling back home in italy. The service was amazing and Patricio was an amazing waiter. The sound of dishes breaking (server and guests), made a more homy feeling. The food was amazing and I tell everyone I meet that they MUST go try this restaurant. We were a table of 4 so we did alot of sharing and tasting. The pricing was at the medium scale."

  • "The hand made Lobster Rivioli is a must try. It whao me. So delicately made up. Service was excellent. Always smile on the serve s face. Overall food was made up nicely...score perfect. Just a little overly butter of the pasta dish...and they made the correction at the end which made the whole dinner perfect. ."

  • "I thought to foie parfait dish was excellent! The pappardelle was just ok. I would have enjoyed bolder flavors in the sauce, as even with the rabbit, it was a little under seasoned. I also thought the pasta was a little too al dente for my taste, maybe a little undercooked. However, the table near me loved their pasta, so it may have just been a fluke. The dessert was rich and tasty, but the presentation was not as elegant as the rest of the meal. I thought the raspberry sauce on the raspberry mousse/ chocolate hazelnut dessert was a bit old school. It would have been better and less sweet without it. I would definitely come back to try other pastas, and entrees. The server was very kind and friendly, and authentically Italian."

  • "This is the best restaurant in the city. We were here on Valentine's Day and the service and the food were as perfect as on any regular night. It has been a while since I had their mushroom/chili pappardelle. It was magniticent. The pastas here are so good that you will have difficulty choosing just one."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Lupo. We hadn't been there in several years and the restaurant had been renovated since our last visit. Newer, more updated ambiance but same great service, food and charm. I highly recommend this spot. It's one of Vancouver's best!!"

  • "Note:I cut most of my review as it was too long. Overall I was happy with my experience at Lupo. I left feeling like it had been an ok idea.Dish: was well plated, very hot with the pasta being perfect. But the sauce was absent from any flavor to the point of being bland really. The only other thing was that with 3 courses each (from the set Valentines menu), one glass of wine each and tip, I left $200 lighter! That certainly puts this restaurant - and likely many others like it - off my list, or at least on the very special occasions category. For me: lower prices and if my dish had the same complexity and culinary creativemess as the linguini with mushrooms (sorry about the spelling) - then my experience would maybe have been worth the bill."

  • "The staff at lupo are the best in town. They make every guest feel like they are the most important in the restaurant. Return customers are noticed and greeted by name. The steak, burrata, sable fish (when available), bean soup, lobster risotto, and all their pastas are fantastic. My wife and I love this place!"
