An excellent experience as always. Chris and Julie were attentive and friendly. The food was excellent as always. Their focaccia bread is the best I've ever had and I always order the stuffed quail entree. The setting in an old heritage house is a great setting for a romantic dinner.

One of my favorite restaurants anywhere. The chef uses local, fresh ingredients and combines fantastic flavors from this region. Friendly staff and just a great place for dinner. The penne pasta that I had was fabulous as was the cheese salad. Great place for couples.

I was going to title this "old school focus on food and service' and then thought that people might take that as a criticism. What I mean is that here is a restaurant that still understands and operates on the baisis that eating out is ABOUT the food and service! It's such a treat to be served well and unobrtrusively. It's also a treat to have fine Italian food with an emphasis on freshnes, flavour and creative presentation. One leaves feeling fed in body and soul.

This is my 3rd time here. This was my first time bringing my in laws and sister in law with her boyfriend. You know when you talk something up to someone so much you ate afraid when it finally happens that it won't be like the last time? Well Lupo had continued to make all of my senses come alive yet again and head yet to disappoint me. We head concert tickets for 8 pm and made reservations for 530. It was the first time we were seated upstairs. It felt like we were in our own private room worth our own bar. The service from Shawn was impeccable. Always there worth my wine bottle in hand, chilled to perfection, or with water for the non wino's. Everyone's dish was amazing and we all shared each others bites. My guests were awestruck.

I took some guests from out of town into Lupo last week and assured them that the food was great and service even better. It was a huge hit! Nathan was awesome; friendly, fun and knowledgeable. Started with a shared Fresh cheese and tomato salad which was melt in your mouth. The homemade ravioli was so good, one of our guests wished that he had had that as his primary dish...until he got his Sablefish. It was marinated overnight, giving it a delicious flavor but light and not overpowering. Lemon tart with 3 forks turned into a tyne fight as we all tried to maintain some dignity but get our 'fair share'. All in all, a wonderful night - again. Business is bringing them back into town soon and it is already on their 'must return' list. Thanks!

I lived in Vancouver in the early part of this century, and Lupo (along with the dearly departed Cocco Pazzo) were my two favorite Italian restaurants in this fair city. I wanted to see if my memory still held true, and so I made a reservation recently. I'm happy to say that it is as good, if not better, than I remember it. The pasta was cooked correctly--truly al dente, as it is served in Bologna--and the wine recommendation (from the extensive and expensive list) was perfectly matched to our food. This restaurant is different than most in that it is situated in a converted home on Hamilton. And the ambience is similar--homey, and yet romantic and elegant. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Bill: $90 each, including wine.

My wife and I were attending a downtown show at the Orpheum. We were able park easily on Hamilton in front of the restaurant. The metered parking was valid through to 10pm so for $10 we had parking for the evening. The dinner was elegant and the atmosphere was very refined. The food and menu selection were very good as well. The restaurant had an extensive wine list. We dined leisurely for an hour and a half then walked the 2 or so blocks straight up Smythe to the Orpheum. After the event, we walked down Robson past the Library and back to our car for an easy exit back over the Cambie Bridge and on our way home.

Food was ok.. We had purchased the costco voucher for $95. We are thinking our service was poor bc of it. They limit you to 2 appetizer options, and dinner is limited too. Our appetizers were not good, dinner was ok, dessert was excellent. Overall we were left sitting between courses for a long time. Total 3hr dinner.

We chose the restaurant on a whim and boy were we happy. This neighborhood restaurant is set in an old home that has been beautifully preserved. The food was outstanding - we had specials and off the menu items - and the service was very good. When we go back to Vancouver, this will be on the list to return!

Recently had the chance to dine at Lupos with friends while we were visiting vancouver. Great find - food was excellent as was the wine - both made even better as our choices were expertly guided by Morico, Trusted to his recommendations and the four of us were not disappointed. Atmosphere, decor and service were all excellent and added to the night. This was by far the best restaurant we found in four weeks traveling Alaska, Alberta and BC.

Great reviews which are accurate with one important exception. this is not just a 2 star cost. More like a 5 star cost. Cost of a bottle of Italian wine was a minimum of $50.00 going upward to $300. When showing some discomfort the recommended wine was $80.00

Lupo has the best service and the best food in Vancouver. We always enjoy our time at Lupo. Looking at the other tables, it looks like everyone else is happy too. The staff is friendly and helpful to all the customers. The sable fish, when it is available, is a must try. Tonight, they had a roasted pear for dessert. I hope they bring that back again soon.

The food and service were amazing. Though we came in dressed extremely casually, the staff was still polite and the service was great. Just the right amount of attention at our table. We also both had food allergies but the restaurant was able to help us choose the best options and work with our allergies (nuts for one of us and gluten for the other). Be warned, they will not serve you dessert if you have a nut allergy but this is for your own safety so it's not too big an issue.

Appy of fresh motzarella (special) fantastic! Special entrée sable fish - fish was excellent, vegetables soggy and was over salted. Both of us had swollen up fingers later in the evening from all the salt! No special tweaks allowed to the menu other than to order gluten free pasta if you wished. Waitress told us 'they didn't have whipped cream' when we asked for simply a bowl of fresh berries with cream on the side for dessert. Yet they have berries on other desserts and there was definitely whipping cream on the monte cristos....so just say 'we don't do substitutions and leave it at that. Overall, good meal but I wouldn't go back. It wasn't that special. Dinner for 2 - $235.00 plus tip.

I took my girlfriend here for a romantic dinner in August, 2014. Great location on Hamilton St. The restaurant is a well-finished character style building with large wooden moldings, wood flooring, warm lighting and thought-provoking modern artwork. The service was exceptional; our server Chris expertly described the nights special dishes and was very attentive yet he seemed only arrived at our table at the exact moment we needed. The wine selection was lengthy and varied, expect to pay a minimum of $40/bottle and upwards of $400 your wallet can handle it. Each dish we had was delicious and made with care; we shared the focaccia and the caprese. I had the bucatini amatriciani and my date had pappardelle. Excellent food and atmosphere!!!

I've eaten here before and expected and received perfection again. The server was prepared to meet my gluten free queries. The chef was more than accommodating to GF alterations on the menu. An outstanding Steelhead was most enjoyable.I will always recommend this fine establishment to others. The only drawback is that it does get a bit noisy (even on a Tuesday night!).

Our only regret about our 6 days in Vancouver is that we did not include a third visit to Lupo. We went there our first night, based on Open Table recommendations and proximity to hotel, then made a reservation for our last night (even cancelling a prior reservation elsewhere.) If possible, it was better the second time around. The second time we got a selection of contorni (plates to share) and each chose a pasta, asking the waiter to choose a salad for us and also our wines. Spot on every time. The night we arrived, we ordered a bottle of Amarone but when it wasn't right for our lobster ravioli, they came up with a fine suggestion. That night I had a veal dish and my husband a steak. This place ranks with the best!

I took my boyfriend there for his birthday and booked the reservation online asking that we were seated in a quiet area and also asked at the last minute to change the reservation time. I received a reminder call for the reservation and the new time was confirmed. When we arrived we were greeted quickly and politely and taken to a quiet corner table. The waiter, Mo, was polite, professional, and had an awesome sense of humour. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. It was a wonderful overall experience. I would definitely go back and recommend this restaurant to family and friends.

My wife and I and another couple - both celebrating our 50th wedding anniversaries - went to Lupo on the first day of our Vancouver visit. We chose Lupo partly based on OpenTable reviews and were not disappointed. We started out with a great cannelloni - the best I've had since my San Francisco days. This was followed by Ling Cod (excellent), Risotto Nero (excellent), Fettucine Bolognese (excellent) and Short Rib Brasato (very good). We were there on a Saturday night and it was very busy - and noisy - however our waiter took excellent care of us - and comped us a delicious Moscato in recognition of our anniversaries. Lupo is located in a charming old (but renovated) house and offers a cozy neighborhood atmosphere. My advice: go there!

Lupo provides character that is perfect for a romantic date night as you can actually carry a conversation without layers of back ground noise. I'm not interested in having an eye shot to the kitchen as I go to restaurants to not see work happening. The wait staff were enthusiastic about doing a great job and they did. The food was great. The wine list was limited but with good options which in my opinion suggests they understand the business side of operating a restaurant without needing to charge excessively. It's a great restaurant for an anniversary type occasion. The experience at Lupo allowed me to not feel like I was spending excessively while also keeping the evening special and romantic.
