Fresh pastas made in house - the pumpkin capellaci and cacio e Pepe were delicious! Roasted Brussels sprouts were a bit overdone. The saltimbocca was good but next time I'd order a starter and pasta. Great wine list although I'd prefer to pour myself. Olive oil cake was just okay though the spiced poached pears were tasty.

It can be a bit intimidating to look at the wine and food menus and not be able to know what you're looking at, since everything is in Italian and it's an Italian wine list (which I am not familiar). Ask the staff and they are MORE than happy to help you. Everything they suggested was wonderful and we didn't leave a bite of anything on our plates! This is my 2nd time to eat at Lupa and I will be going again on my next New York visit! Everything is so fresh and simple, but made to perfection. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

Been wanting to try this restaurant for years and dinner here the other night with a girlfriend did not disappoint. Service from the moment I got into the restaurant till the end of my meal was on par. The food was amazing! We got the bucatini, gnocchi, and the pork and veal sausage. The suggested wine from our server was also delicious! Overall, I would come back again and definitely recommend Lupa to my friends.

Lupa came highly recommended and we weren't disappointed. Primi course pasta mussels and jalapeño was a spicy delight. Main course dishes were all winners for table. Typically close quarters for village restaurant but noise levels were tolerable and conversation was easy across the table. Waiter handled diary allergy issues with ease and immediately checked with the chef to guide one of our party through the menu selections...without drama, eye rolling or huffiness.

I made a reservation here for a very special occasion, my husband's arrival to america after a year of being apart for the visa process. After being promised on the phone the back room where there are nicer tables, when we actually got there the hostess said that it was against policy to guarantee that and shoved us in a corner. There was no sort of apology or accomodation whatsoever. To top it off the food was sub par. I have been there several times before, but I definitely think the quality has gone down. We didnt even bother to get dessert we just wanted to get out.

This was our first dinner at Lupa and we are really pleased. The front room is very busy and a bit loud but we were seated in the back room which was quiet and relaxed. My green salad was full of bright flavors and the pasta special was cooked perfectly. I couldn't pass up the tartufo dessert which was out of this world. We will be back.

I have been going on annual trip to NYC for 15 years with three special friends and we always eat at Lupa on our last night of the trip. We usually let the waitress pick some menu items for us but over the years we have come to love certain things that we always get such as the peppered pasta and gnocchi. Also highly recommend the Beets with Pistachio and Ginger! The wine suggestion was just right as well! Looking forward to next October if not sooner! Ended the meal with coffee and Lupa Tartufo - pretty perfect.

Lively and fun. prosciutto was great. My friend had Cremini mushrooms and parmigiano which was also great. Pasta course was duck orchietto and was too salty. I has the skate for a main course which was ok but nothing great. My friend had the salt inboxes which was terrible. It looked like a cowpie. It was a solid disc and we could have picked it up and played frisbee. It would have been better used as a frisbee than it was as good. Very disappointing and not at all what yiu would expect in a restaurant of this quality.

My husband and I celebrated our 1st anniversary dinner here. This was our first time to nyc and many of our friends recommended Lupa..now we know why. The service was beyond excellent and their knowledge of Italian food was top notch coming from a couple who's first generation. We even were treated to some extras such as an awesome dessert and champagne to celebrate our special night. My husband had the baccala and I had the pasta with black pepper-simple yet delicious. Come here you will not be disappointed!

Food is always spectacular and we return over and over again as the years go by. We were a little annoyed that our server rushed us through our meal. I realize there are a lot of folks waiting in line to eat but we barely had to have time to finish our food before the servers kept coming over to ask if we'd finished. Then they pushed us on trying to order dessert in a hurray and were a bit snippy when we asked that we just be given a chance to finish drinking our wine first. I will still come back and I know EVERYONE wants to eat here because it's so spectacular but I think the reservations should be spaced out a little more if possible.

If my experience wasn't five star it was probably my own fault. I booked a table for two and a friend joined at the last minute. Lupa tried to accommodate by unfolding a tiny leaf on our tiny table but when the third person arrived he was blocking half of the waiter station. I felt awkward. Knowing that we were going to have a third person, it didn't make sense to give us that table. But maybe because the reservation was made that same day, we had basically the worst table in the house to begin with. Besides all that, the food here is amazing (the "meatless Monday" pasta special was the best thing I've eaten in months), the service is professional, the setting is lovely, and overall you feel that you are in good hands.

Went to Lupa for anniversary dinner with the wife. Was very disappointed with the quality of the food and overall atmosphere. We ordered the spaghetti, gnocci, and skirt steak. The spaghetti gave a whole new meaning to "al dente" which was undercooked to the point the spahetti would get stuck in your teeth. The gnocci tased quite similar to some canned products I frequently ate as a child and the skirt steak was like rubber. On top of all this, the house music consisted of Outkast, 2 Pac, IceCube, and Bone Thugs N Harmony. Not what I was expecting from an Italian Restaurant.

My wife and I celebrated our 15th year anniversary this weekend at Lupa and were disappointed. For starters we had squash and shrimp with mint which were both lacking in flavor. For our entrees, we had the striped bass which was a disturbingly small portion and the "sides" were actually underneath the disturbingly small portion of fish. To be fair, the fish was good but did not have the flavor I`m used to: I make the same fish every week and it tastes better, costs a lot less, and I get a lot more food. My wife had a pumpkin ravioli which she also said lacked flavor. Lupa was overpriced, lacked flavor, and portions were way too small. We will not be back.

I don't remember ever being disappointed here. The pastas are fantastic; our most recent selections being the pumpkin cappellacci and the beef ragu orechiette. My husband had the heritage pork Arista and I the skate; both cooked perfectly. The skate had rich flavor, creamy texture. The pork was moist and delicate. The food is consistently good and the location is great. We will always go back.

the menu is obscure for the sake of being obscure so it just takes a long time to read. The wait staff is the best part of the restaurant however the food is very overpriced for the quality that you receive. I don't prefer restaurants where you have to sit close to other couples. This was one of the most awkward close situations I've dealt with in a long time. Another couple was practically at my table and I was forced to listen to their conversation the whole time.

I have always loved Lupa, and have dined here each time I visited NYC. This latest meal was a huge disappointment. We ordered the pasta tasting menu. The first course and the ravioli course were excellent. However, Three courses contained pork belly, rendering them too similar, greasy and without complexity. I even requested lemon to add brightness to one dish. There was not a hint of green - no basil or parsley - nothing fresh tasting. Even the amatriciana, which was the only dish with any visible color, lacked a single morsel of tomato. Luckily the wines were excellent, providing some acidity to an otherwise bland, greasy and altogether disappointing lunch. Our server was delightful.

The restaurant is quite small but although it was fairly full during my recent lunch there, my guest and I enjoyed a very nice lunch in a comfortable atmosphere. I started with the Carciofe alla Giudia (Jewish fried artichokes) which I first experienced in Rome and the Lupa version was very authentic. Furthermore, because it was served in small chunks, much easier to eat then the whole artichoke presented in Rome. We then split a spaghetti carbonara which was also well made although it could have used a bit more bacon. For the secondo, the Lupa sausages over broccoli rape, very spicy, but delicious, especially for my guest and I, both of southern Italian heritage. Overall, a delightful meal with excellent service.

Waiter came over to our table roughly 7-10 minutes of us being seated to take our drink orders. We didn't see him once there after, except for drinking at the bar which I can only assume was beer. Eventually after I had finished my first drink, I walked it to the bar myself to have it refilled. Manager, or host took out dinner orders, and eventually I did not see the waiter anymore. The food was decent, a little bland and lacking sides, though that could be how we ordered. I wouldn't reccommend this place. Oh, and 4 shots of whiskey was apparently $54.
