Lupa TrattoriaA true neighborhood gemI live in Philadelphia but come to SF a half dozen times a year and stay in Noe Valley. Lupa is the bext restaurant on all counts in the area, and one of my favorite in the city. The staff are larger than life in the good sense--friendly, welcoming--they remind me of the waiters in Little Italy when I was growing up in NY. For value, service, and superior food, this is the place to go no matter where in SF you are.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat little spot!I was looking for a place for my husband and I to take my Dad out for his birthday. My Dad has lived in SF for about 40 years, and sometimes it seems like he has been to just about every restaurant there is in town, so figuring out a place to take him can be a challenge. I found Lupa Trattoria on Yelp and the reviews were so good, and more importantly, pretty consistent, that I decided to take a chance and book us a table. We were not disappointed. First off, the wait staff is really great. Secondly, the interior is really nice and cozy looking, which is just what I was hoping for. The wine list is a nice mix of by the glass versus by the bottle of Italian wines. And, the food was delicious. I will definitely be back.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThisnisnangrat little neighborhoodThisnisnangrat little neighborhood restaurant. The food, especially pasta are good. They always have some interesting twists on salalds(currently artichoke and fennel). It is our go to restaurant for visitors!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGood, consistently good ItalianGood, consistently good Italian food. I love their pasta, esp. the "con funghi" one. Great service, there but not in your face. Friendly, accommodating staff. Def. a repeat. In fact, I did repeat it -- on both Monday and Tuesday nights! Buona or -o, or -i.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGood, solid Italian food --Good, solid Italian food -- consistently good. Love their pasta! Always good service, too: friendly, accommodating. I go there often; in fact, I returned the following night!4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMService was great as alwaysService was great as always - prompt but not rushed. Love the dining room - when it is full, it can be crowded but does not feel like you are sitting in your neighbors lap. Table favorites are always the prosciutto & pear appetizer, the beef & pork tortelloni, and the veal saltimbooca. We liked the fava been special and the asparagus risotto this time too off the specials menu.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMDelish!Everything was amazing. Can't stop thinking about the white chocolate lemon torte for dessert. The lamb was cooked perfectly!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMEat here.....and oftenDelicious Italian food in a casual setting.
The place is not fancy but the food is so fabulous you won't notice the bare tables
I have never been disappointed in one of their pasta dishes especially the homemade pastas
The only time I found it a bit noisy was when there was a table for 12 celebrating a family event.
We did my mother's 90th birthday here a few years ago - rented the entire restaurant for the evening.
The service was so friendly and attentive and caring you would have thought they were doing it for their own mother4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAte here for the first timeAte here for the first time while on vacation. We were a party of six. Every single one of our order was very good. My only complaint is that the serving portions are small. Smoked mozzarella a la fungi is excellent and the fettuccine with several types of mushroom was addictive. Very authentic to No. Italian cuisine.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good Roman Italian food.Very good Roman Italian food. The unremarkable decor is more than made up for with excellent food and warm, excellent service. No fru fru pretense on the plate: the grilled radicchio with goat cheese starter was gone in seconds, the gnocchi braised in wild boar sauce was spectacular, the lamb chops in a balsamic reduction were deeply flavorful, and the veal special was tender and flavorful. Neighborhood vibe, diverse diners. $18 corkage. We will definitely be back!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA great find in wolf's clothingHad passed by Lupo back in November while taking a walk in Noe Valley and took note. Glad we gave it a try. Excellent saltimbocca and best fried
Polenta I have had anywhere. Intimate interior with highly attentive waiters. Definitely transported me to Rome.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMA neighborhood gemThe quintessential neighborhood trattoria -- wonderful food, plenty of wine, quiet attentive service, comfortable as old shoes. Small family birthday at adjoining table, young couple holding hands, the gentleman reading Tolstoy over his solitary supper, two bearded ones deep in discussion after a toast to the new pope, and our table of four old friends planning a trip to London and Venice -- typical Noe Valley enjoying dinner out on a midweek evening. Every dish was perfect -- salads, fresh pasta, tender duck breast, mussels, accompanied by two bottles of smooth Valpolicella. We skipped dessert, but Tolstoy enjoyed his! Warm ending over expresso. Highly recommended -- perfect for a relaxed date night.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is the best restaurantThis is the best restaurant in Noe Valley. The food is creative and delicious. Service wonderful. Reasonably priced. I get to San Francisco about 5 times a year, and never miss an opportunity to eat here.1/13/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently good food, service,Consistently good food, service, ambiance, etc. They never rush you either!!!!!!!! Great find.12/27/2012 12:00:00 AMService is always great -Service is always great - very attentive. Food was delicious! Pastas are done perfectly. Lentil soup was yummy. We've learned to skip the desert, which works out fine as we do not try to save room & devour every last bite of dinner.11/17/2012 12:00:00 AM
