One of the best places in the East Bay for scenic outdoor dining by the water. I had heirloom tomatoe salad & whole Branzino which was delecious. My husband had the Seafood stew which was also good. Service is friendly and professional.

Beautiful setting, mediocre food. Menu reads great but execution leaves much to be desired. Flavorful panzaneta salad, but they used crotons instead of real bread. Pizza came with an inedible crust. Long gap between 1st and 2nd courses. Ligurian menu that was a bit light on the seafood. But the room was nicely done and the view spectacular at sunset. I really wanted to like the place but it needs work.

My husband and I loved the entire dining experience. We used to go there when it was Ms Pearl Jam's and I have to say that they did a great job in changing it over. The restaurant has a very warm and inviting feeling to it. The menu had a lot to offer and our selections were delicious The only area that could use work is the wait staff. Our waitress was really trying but she seemed stressed out and was a little delayed on delivering some items. We will definitely be return customers!

I had to wait for the rest of my party - so ended up spending 3 1/2 hrs. there. Never felt rushed. We shared the red polenta app - very good. Then shared a salad, ravioli and prosciutto pizza. We enjoyed them all with a carafe of wine. Was my first time at Jack London Square.

  • Ribollita that is not a soup

    Dined on 8/15/2013
I prepared Ribollita many times-it is a soup. I googled it now again-it is a soup. I ordered it at the restaurant thinking I'll get soup. I got nicely plated mixture of leftovers. I have to admit that it was not bad, and Ribollita does mean 'reboiled' in Italian yet I expected soup, not what I got. Also, would have been nice to have a fish knife for my whole fish.

My fiance and I came here to celebrate my birthday and it was a wonderful experience. Our server knew everything about the menu and was patient with our millions of questions. The drink menu is amazing and they also have a decent ($15) corkage. The best part was that we are both gluten free and they can make all their pizzas and pastas with gluten free flour. Everything was delicious and super reasonable.

  • Too Much Salt

I liked a lot of the ideas and concepts of this menu. We had the Salmon and Trout Crudo, the ribollata with egg, the fritto misto, squid ink, chard, broccoli rapani. everything was just a little too salty but our waiter thinks that it might have been owed to some line cook. I had to order bread to counter the salt but even the foccacia had too much salt and butter so I had to pick that part off. Broccoli came out so salty that we had to send it back and they recooked it. It was better 2nd time. The texture of everything was good, the squid ink was yummy as were the clams, everything just too salty. I'll go back at one point and make sure to tell my server that I'd like to make sure that there's no heavy hand on the salt.

Last minute changes to dinner plans as there was a problem on the bridge. Instead our visitors took the ferry over and I needed to find a reasonable, casual, kid friendly Italian place easily accessible from Alameda. Read a number of yelp reviews, and the location and the review was good enough to give it a try, though I hadn't been there before. Not disappointed. Wait staff and front of house managers were friendly, accommodating, and professional. Restaurant was clean and comfortable, food was tasty, nicely plated and reasonable. Will return.

The Restaurant has a beautiful view of the water and nice decor. The hostess's were professional, friendly and very accommodating. They offered a "prefixed 3 course dinner" for $30 with choices of Rose, bianco, red blend or syrah (bottomless glasses). Our group opted to try the pre-fix. The appetizers were good, the main course pizzas barely had any potato or sausage on them, they were just pizza dough (very, very disappointing).) I think they should have not skimped on the entrees and given us smaller scoops of dessert. This is the 2nd time we've dined here. The first time we had to ask them where the fennel was for his pizza? It's a huge beautiful space and an interesting menu but they need to beef up their portions! .

I really liked the food although the portions were small and the prices were very, very high. $26 for a fish with no sides dishes, $18 for a pasta with no sides is really too much. I really want this restaurant to do well as we need good restaurants in Oakland, however, with these prices and portions, I do not think it will survive.

Food was good and fresh. Portions of antipasti were generous -- the pasta portion was too small to satisfy my big-appetite boyfriend. But we each had a salad, and I ordered to antipasti for my entree, so he ate most of my second antipasti. The salmon antipasti was delicious, but I'd just had something similar at Dopo that was better (though the Lungomare portion was about twice the size). The polenta was delicious and very rich -- could be a nice way to satisfy a big appetite for a bargain on that menu. My wine, recommended among the tap wines, was the most expensive. It was OK but didn't wow me. I would go back with out-of-towners, big spenders and lovers of seafood, but we probably won't be going back for date night.

If the weather is warm, be sure to book an outside table. This restaurant is right by the water on Jack London Square -- a great location for people watching on the weekend. The food is very good. The service was amateur and neglectful. It took too long to be served drinks. The waiter completely forgot to bring an ice bucket that was requested for the white wine. We finally got one from a different staff person. The food came out of the kitchen promptly and was delicious. But our waiter missed all opportunities to sell additional drinks and generally failed to look after us. We went in search of salt & pepper and water refills on our own. Still, we'd go there again and give it another try because the food and location are so good.

This was my second visit to Lungomare -- and they definitely do a better job with dinner than with brunch. Everything about our brunch was a disappointment. Bloody Mary was sweet and too thick, service was ridiculously slow (25 minutes for a pizza), and food was very mediocre. I might consider going to dinner again - but not sure if I can return after such a poor experience at brunch.

The first time I went to Lungomare the pizza was so good it took my breath away. It reminded me of the best, fresh, wood-fired pizza I had in Italy. looked forward to trying it again, but my second try bore almost no resemblance to the first. I don't know if they have changed the recipe or cooking method, or if the pizza chef just had a bad day, but I was very disappointed. They had something special I came back for and dragged my friends for, and now it just tastes like everybody else's. The gazpacho we had first, though, was brilliant.

Split wild mushroom pizza for a starter, which was satisfactory. I had the mezza luna pasta with spring peas, walnuts, etc., and it was delicious. Highly recommended. My friend had the rotisserie chicken, which was quite good (and substantial). The Linden Street draft beer was good. Attentive service. We sat inside because it was a dreary and cold day. Would be very pleasant to sit outside on a sunny day. Only about 4 tables in the huge restaurant were occupied at any one time while we were there from noon to 1:30 pm. Almost all the stores in and around Jack London Square are unoccupied, so not much reason for people to come here. Eat here soon because there's not enough foot traffic to sustain this restaurant, which deserves better.

The adage: "The closer to water, the worse the food" is true here. We had to ask for translation as the menu was written in Italian terminology--without explanation. So pretentious, it's nonsense! The gnocchi with rabbit didn't indicate it was smoked, which was unpleasant tasting. Arugula salad underdressed. Squid ink pasta bland, portion tiny. Our server came back much later to say she had forgotten one order (what was it?). So we had to wait an inordinately long time for entrees to be served. Only positive is the beautiful setting, sitting outside at the harbor on a beautiful night with good heaters.
